  • How the heck do they winch up a 13.5 ton bell?!

  • Smashing, Absolutely Smashing. Only complaint is that I did not take up the Master of the Worshipful company of Clockmakers (Andrew Crisford , I think) on a personal tour after He visited my Clock Shop's Turret Clock (1865 John Moore & Sons) In July of 1997. I would guess the offer still stands. I just have to get to the UK. Cheers and Thanks for the Video Collections.

  • I always wanted to know, i'm glad I found this video.

  • in america we thought that the clock was big ben! i never knew it had a bell very cool!

  • I live in Argentina and I love England...Each morning I can find myself full of regret at not living in a lovely place like you, dear English Man...Having nothing of Culture, only rubbish in a peronist place... Big Ben, plenty of beauty...¿Who made thy?

  • actually the real name is St. Stephen's the public knows as quite a few things but it was originally named St. Stephen's

  • you could not have moving video ? you have got to be kidding me keyframe zoom outs and tracks across still images WHAT !!! ?? WHY ? in this day and age you can do a video that doesn't show doors exits and entrances and security sensitive information it is all in the editing typical!

  • This is bigger than the Tsar Bell in Moscow. And the Tsar Bell is so called "the biggest bell in the world." People do not know how to compare

    -_-

  • This is by far the most informative video about Big Ben I have ever found. Thanks to Parliament for sharing this amazing information about my most favorite public clock.

  • Would anyone happen to know if the pendulum actually needs to be stopped to add or subtract old pennies for fine-tuning?

And are they simply placed on top of the pendulum?

  • simply balanced.

  • As a boy I was lucky enough to get permission to do this tour and I was up there when it struck 3pm.. Very loud it was to.. I also got to the top of the GPO tower in 1966 which I was able to record with my new Argus Standard 8 cine camera. And I must add my appreciation for those who allowed this listing.. Thank you

  • what an educational video!!!! so nice to get a tour of the most famous clock in the world!!! A++++++++++

  • Wonderful video! Thank you so much! I want to visit London so I can see the clock tower!

  • I know the tower is closed to public. To see it you must be authorized by a Member of Parliament if you live in UK or by your local UK embassy. I know also that photos and videos in the machine room are forbidden so this is a really unique document

  • extreamly informative and entertaining
