@mistermoen yeah, she probably should have left the subject of his wife alone. It was like she punched him in the stomach. The camera is off of him when she's offering condolences, but you can hear him choke-up a little bit.
I didn't know his wife died. It makes me sad to think that one day not too far off, we will loose Noam as well. This will be a "celebrity" (not that he is really a celebrity) death that will actually affect me.
Chomsky has certainly affected the direction of my life more than Michael Jackson or Princess Diana.
@QuantumProphet I dont like to dwell to much on Diana's contributions to humanity but to compare her to Paris Hilton is just low. Diana did far more and and was a far more caring person.
i am worried about what he finds worrisome, the rise of Fascism. This man is a true speaker for the people! I hope he stays with us for a long time , and maybe one day, we will have a leader(s) who would listen to wisdom, such as his! That is HOPE!
@winbri5 I'm more hopeful that the population will understand that the system needs normal citizens to step up. Too many leaders have failed, and I'm getting the impression it's because it's very hard for them to make positive change without active-peaceful popular support. Since when did history produce a 'good' leader. The population needs to step in so that fair government is established. Even the homeless these days are looked at as a price tag instead of a moral obligation to care for.
@coffeebeaner No crap he looked sad! First she asks him how does it feel to be really old and then a few minutes later reminds him that his wife is dead so he simultaneously thinking about dying and the death of his wife; you think he'd look happy after that?!
As for the "Weimar moment" thing, we've (and this goes for all countries) always been just a few steps away from a genocidal society; decency and so-called civility is just a fascade covering the rotten core of the human condition.

When the truth behind the events of September 11th is accepted by the mainstream, this man will be shown to be a fool. A shame... He could contribute much.
God damn, speaking of dogmatics! All 9/11 Truthers need to understand and hopefully agree with Ward Churchill's "little Eichmann" analogy, then maybe there can be some face-saving and forgiveness for being so silly.
...
That said, Robert Freeman's article "America Is In Its Weimar Moment" and Noami Wolf's argument should be understood and taken very seriously. Even Ron Paul warns well in his arguments of rising US fascism. What all of them disdain is the use of violence to resist... Not wise.
He didn't like or expect them to mention his dead wife, did he? Poor old bastard.

Maybe she could have done it differently.

Jackson only changed the direction of my dancing. Diana was just another rich Paris Hilton although refined type dying.

@coffeebeaner Amy worded those questions so terribly, and Chomsky hates personal questions... Poor guy.
