Thanks for the comment!:) Yeah, I miss him too. He had tremendous talent and it's a shame not everyone was able to appreciate him. Like you said, you don't get one like that every day.
He was off for his debut, the Monmouth Stakes, and Haskell Invitational, so he did win without them. Plus the steroids he was on weren't performance enhancing but for keeping up his appetite. He flopped at Belmont because he was running with a painful loose shoe and after missing training due to injury. Raven is great, I don't know whether Brown could have beat him, but he was working well with Kip Deville and sitting on a big race. He would have given a good account of himself in the Classic.
Although Im not a fan of his connections, Big Brown is one of my favourite horses. In January I decided for the first time to follow American racing so i went on the Kentucky Derby website and started following the contenders.Originally War Pass was my favourite but when he was injured I started following BB so he has the distinction of being the first US horse I ever followed. (Imagine my dissapointment when he lost the Belmont)
Nice job. I really love this! Thank you for adding his last two races,I'd have to say the Monmouth Stakes was my favorite race of his. This is such a great tribute! Thanks again.
Thank you, I appreciate the kind words. The Monmouth is one of my favorties, too, because he showed such courage in going to the front and turning all challengers back in the stretch.:)

Oh, and I forgot to add, according to Iavorone he was off steroids for the Preakness too, and the Preakness was arguably his best performance.

Terrible?
Terrible doesn't win the FL Derby, KY Derby, Preakness, Haskell and a Turf races against graded stakes company.
He was off drugs after the Belmont. Which means he WON The Haskell and Monmouth off drugs.
Stop spewing propaganda.
Oh, and your golden boy Curlin was on drugs all of 2007 :D

Finally someone else who can appreciate how good Big Brown really was and see the truth beneath all the negative press! I agree with you 100 percent.
gallantbloom 3 years ago
Actually, he wasn't on drugs for the Classic, just thought you should know.

Huh, I read a couple places he was on them the whole year, except for October. I don't know, maybe it's wrong, but it was more then one place.

I was a big War Pass fan, too, though Big Brown stole my heart as soon as I saw his three-year-old debut.:)
