Dana really is an unlikable bitch. She's two-faced, selfish, doesn't make any sense and she's treating bowie like a blundering little kid when she can't be more than a year or two older than him. Oh and absolutely zero character development.

@Snowyflaker11: I think she made the right call. Bowie got caught....when she explicitly asked him not to. In this ep, he hasn't been "on point" and he needed to be taught a lesson. Plus, it brought out the softee in Nova. Frankly, I think this was realistic behavior. Bowie was acting like a careless child (i.e. getting caught twice) and so, he needed to be taught a lesson.

@icejet11197: Dana's realistic. Might get me shot, but I've had bosses that acted like this. It was for Bowie's own good in the end. When your boss asks you to do something (i.e. not get caught) and you get caught, it means u can't be counted on. And on a mission like the one they're embarking on, that's something she couldn't afford to have on the team. She made the right call.

You should read the Robotech novels by Jack McKinney. The book version of Dana is much less unpleasant.

I don't see what's so special about the 15th Squadron that all other Robotech forces prove to be inferior to these missions.

This is awesome, a good reason to see the whole Robotech series all over again--to check out all the deleted scenes. Drawings of frisky, nude Dana are cute. I like the series separate rather than linked together, though. Continuity is an issue. The other cool thing, despite the nudity, is the empowerment of women by having them as capable leaders.

They are. Dana was a preteen when the SDF-3 left Earth for Tirol (homeworld of the Robotech Masters) and Max and Miriya went with it. There was a cancelled series called "The Sentinels" that was to cover their adventures. All that was ever made was the pilot, which introduced the "new" Alpha Fighters.

That's the ironic part of the whole series. As the REF was on it's way to Tirol, the Robotech masters came to earth for the protoculture matrix.

Consider the artstyle here. It's so low-detail and full of animation errors that you have to ask yourself...does it even matter that she's nude?

And yeah, the creator/main artist of the Super Dimension anthology (Macross, Southern Cross, Orguss) tended to offer up his own form of "fanservice". But again, it's more like the bland nudity of old paintings.
