Man, I don't think Franchitti trained to be a Pilot:). He was a lucky in the fact that no one speared him as he was falling back down onto the track. Glad he won this years Indy 500 race, it certainly makes up for this incident:).
No, this race wasn't rain delayed. That was the year before and I remember it being something like a four hour delay. But 2006 was a very safe race - no crashes at all.
You don't know what your talking about. Ovals has its place in racing, and you do have to brake and get the power on right to get out of a corner or your going to get pass, it is more about power than a road circuit but it takes a differenct discipline of racing. Ever heard of Brookland? It was really the first high speed oval sort of speak built in england. Ovals are fast and dangerous I agree, but it does has a place in racing
Don't get me wrong, I prefer F1. But I will say, no one wants a piece of Rick Mears on Oval because..He was smooth, he knew how to take the right lines on very very fast ovals. It pisses me off when anyone disses any type of racing, it is all great, its like women, just because you don't like a girl with a big ass doesn't it aint fun to ride. Peace out guys L:)

lol on commentators! Horror crash and Dario Franchitti with the correct pronounciation, but when they're trying to say Michigan, it turns out to Mishigan or so. I hate german comentators.

Yeah, but if Franchitti's and Dixon's helmets would've hit each other or something both would have died likely. But that's the thing about open wheel racing. You can make the cockpits really safe but if you somehow get hit in the head in high speed the helmet likely won't help you.
yep, this is because IRL cars and ChampCars are still using high ammount of negative downforce (ground effect). Low cars are banned from F1 in the mid 90's, to avoid accidents like this. BTW F1 cars never go over 350 km/h, but these IRL cars are running at 370-380 kmh constantly. Probably this crash is happened at this speed.
i was there, wicked crash it was!
