  • "pretty demanding score" he says about "the king and I" ...MMMM....it was written for gertrude lawrence who didn't have the greatest of voices and sounded rather flat by that stage of her career..;and Richard Rogers knew that very very well...so he custom made the songs for mrs. Anna (and certainly for the sprechgesang of Yul Brynner) not too demanding...we're not talking full trottle soprano here..Angela lansbury did it just as good...

  • This is interesting - I love Marni Nixon and I know she sang for NATALIE WOOD in West Side Story but I really wish that Natalie's original tracks existed somewhere ~ Natalie is no longer with us and it would just be nice to hear all her tracks, even if they weren't quite strong enough to use.
