I just finished producing a how-to DVD called Making Wooden Spoons that shows the step by step process of making wooden spoons in a wood shop with standard power tools – no lathing or hand carving required. It is available at Amazon.com by searching "Making Wooden Spoons DVD"
@Dmajorproductions But don't people cook with and utilize wooden spoons every day? My dear ol' ma probably has 25 wooden utensils in her kitchen right now that she uses regularly (is a retired chef). Makes sense about bacteria and such, I would think that's just an issue if you fail to clean things properly, no?
@touchnova oh i never thought of those spoons, haha. i guess its plates that are bad, if you are in a kitchen, where you are going to clean it on a regular basis, then i guess theyre ok. but in the wilderness, or camping, i dont think i would use one.
youre right, unless you dont clean regularly, it should be ok, but i still prefer stainless steel for MY spoons (im an aficionado, what can i say ;) )

i thought eating off of wood more than once would give you diseases?
Dmajorproductions 2 years ago
Could you clarify? Do you mean the toxicity of some woods (Taxus/Yew) or that foodscraps will get stuck in the fibers?
