i don't think thats what brother nouman is saying but rather you shouldn't reduce dawah to just an aggressive attack on someones belief from rational perspective although ahmed dedat and zakir naik may do this at times to increase impact they also take the soft approach. He's saying dawah shouldn't be shouldn't be used in a way just to boost your ego.

Salam alaykum. I agree with everything that is said. But, how do you give dawah to people that are soo ignorant. There perception of Islam is shaped only by what has been said by the news and T.V. Example, people like the protesters at the Orange County Fund raising event. Muslim brothers and sisters were raising money for the community and Kufar were outside shouting at the Muslim families (AND KIDS) coming into the building. Peer ignorance.... These people are the hardest to deal with

I ask people these two questions, Do you believe in God, Are you a seeker of truth, then I give them my youtube channel link, which has all kinds of videos to remind them. My job is done after that, because now it's up to them to take their time to learn the truth.

so don’t stop doing good, because you think you’ve got too much bad in you. work towards goodness and the bad will naturally disappear.

if you do not pour any water into the container, then the container is left stained with the ink and there’s no way you can get rid of it. at least by doing good, you are trying to cancel out the bad. even if you do a little bit of good, at least it dilutes the ink and makes it easier to get rid of. the more good you do, eventually, the good will exceed the bad, getting rid of the ink and you’ll just be left with the good stuff :) i hope that’s clear and easy to understand :-)

a simple metaphor to explain why, even if you still do bad things, you should still do and spread the good things:

imagine a container filled with say, ink. every day you pour water into it. eventually, there is so much water in it, that it overflows and eventually, the ink overflows with it and is removed from the container.

the ink is the bad thing, the water is the good thing. by pouring water (doing good), at least you are filling the container (yourself) with goodness.
