Justin should have been where the hammer strikes the string..splat!
Whether Joplin composed this or not I like it , but it seems boogiewoogie came just slightly after joplins heyday, but I'm not a purist so I'm guessing..
Damn fine Ivory ticklin, I have to say. Really enjoyed it fo sho !! All the big classic rock stars give the blues credit for their inspiration in their early years getting started. Check out some of their interviews here on the Tube.
@lagier8 you do, if you sit down with a pencil and staff paper (blank sheet music paper) at the piano and transcribe this recording!!! It will take a long time but be worth it!!!
At first I thought Axel Zwingenberger but now that you mention could be Wellstood. I don't have Wellstood's version in collection but I have been at party while Axel played and this even and smooth feel sounds similar check out Thundertrain.
Yea right good luck trying to find sheet music for this. I'ts just a classic boogie woogie improv in Gmaj. I'ts the kinda thing you have to pick up by ear.
I would be interested to know who actually wrote/performed this, however. It is a very good blues. I should also make mention that this is NOT the Jimmy Blythe composition "Boogie Woogie Blues", either.
This is a Dick Wellstood Performance! Its on his CD "Ragtime Piano Favorites" - One of the best ragtime/stride albums I have ever heard, by the way. I think this was just a Wellstood improvisation, because he just titled it Boogie Woogie Blues, and then had a track on the CD later called "More Boogie Woogie Blues" or something to that effect. A very very neat tune indeed, and I highly recommend picking up the CD too! :D -Will Perkins
@wilscool Thanks Will! It is good to know this is actually Dick Wellstood who wrote this and is performing it in this audio clip. It is too bad whoever posted it decided to mess with people and claim it is by "Scott Joplin"!
This is NOT a Scott Joplin composition. He never wrote anything even vaguely similar to this. The bluesiest he got was in "Magnetic Rag", and still, that resembles a completely different blues style than this.
I'm not sure it's really scott joplin's song. I couldn't find something conclusive on web. That's an ordinary name of song, with so many authors. Many information may be wrong. Scott Joplin was a composer of early decades of 20th Century. Ragtime, not blues.
The best blues piano song ever, or at least on youtube

There's also another versione called "More Boogie Woogie blues" still from Dick Wellstood. Basically the same but faster and with some variation!

Is not a Scott Joplin song but it's "Boogie Woogie Blues" of Dick Wellstood! I don't think exist sheet music about it, 'cause it's an improvisation!
