I really want to see more Grey Knights in MWG. I collect them and battle my friends but I really want to see them against Chaos. Out of all of my friends that collect 40K, none of them collect any kind of Chaos. Which kinda sucks being Grey Knights and all.
matt, i,m a new comer to the 40k world i nedd to know what to do next i have space marien tac squed, drednot, space marien capten and devistator squed now what do i do plz respond .
dear miniwargamer matt i am a tyranid player and i would like to know your opinion on where and how to get the best tyranid terrain as i am looking for some and also if not having any genestealers in my 3500pts tyranid army is a bad thing
I don't get why he decided to use Anrakyr for this game: Except for his Immortals getting Counter-Attack and Furious Charge and Mind in the Machine (Allows him to control the weapons of an enemy vehicle), he's just an Overlord. Since 'nids don't use vehicles, he'd been better of with Trazyn, Zahndrek, Obyron, or a normal Overlord for HQ, or just flesh out his court. Anrakyr is 165p, that's 2-3 lords, 3-4 crypteks, or 10 immortals, just to name a few examples.
@legionthantos Upcoming Tyranid book by Ward...they are now buddies. Talked things over and are allies against the Imperium. Until Draigo kills them all in the next edition GK codex ;)
@GriffinPilgrim Kinda weird Tyranids were added or Necrons in the warhammer universe. Both just bring death. Even Chaos builds shrines and daemon worlds, and Orks colonise. But yet, there are two races that only destroy..
@Schneboll That's probably why they were added, something different. Mirrors of each other as well: one all flesh, the other all metal. Though the Necrons don't just destroy. I'm not clear on the reboot, but previously the Nightbringer's Necrons just destroyed, but the Trickster, well there was no predicting what he would get up to.
@Schneboll Basically with the new fluff, Necrons just want to reclaim the worlds that belonged to them, contra how the old fluff described them as an emotionless race that just kill stuff. Necrons have strict codes on how to wage warfare *IF* they consider their opponent worthy (which is rare). For example, in the codex there is a recording of a msg to an Imperial world that tells them their world is rightfully Necron, and give them one month to withdraw, else be taken by force.
@GriffinPilgrim Ehm well, that's the start. As Imotekh the Stormlord put it(paraphrased): "10 thousand years have passed and you haven't done jack to show for it". Basically once their kingdoms are restored, they will conquer and place everything under order. So in a way, they are a bit like the Tau, except less hippie about it. This is just my thesis but: If you swear to follow their rules, they might allow you to live under them. They also want to become mortal again, of flesh.
@kodain Again: by 40K standards that makes them really nice guys. Frankly I thought the old fluff was more evocative, but hey ho. Do they still not have souls? 'Cos a soulless, powerful but not too "kill 'em all" army could really help the Chaos issue. And great for fighting Tyranids, because they are the only army that don't make the 'Nids stronger if they lose.
@GriffinPilgrim C'tan: *om nom nom nom, souls*. The Necrons are all soulless, while practically all but the warriors retain memory or personality, they are hollow as they have no soul(Bit like Vampire Counts from Fantasy). Also amusing as I just re-read the new codex: The C'tan actually sought the Necrontyr out, and the Necrontyr forged them the Necro-Dermis to make them materialize in this world. And the C'tan took the shape of their gods to trick them.
@kodain Clever, clever Star Gods. Well, not so clever in the long run but who the hell is?
Y'know, reading your conversation with the other guy: something that always bugs me is how so many 40K fans object to the slightest bit of light. Like the Tau, who were designed to be the "good guys" of the setting then were retooled as jerkass commies because people whined. And now the Necrons aren't allowed to have anything going for them? I liked the old 'Crons but not because GOOD IS WRONG!
@kodain If you ask me that is bad fluff. Goes against the core of the Necron being I think, to even consider talking or warning living beings they are on their way. Necrons=Destructive, life hating, deathless Nihilists. In my opinion. :)
@Schneboll Well it is highly rare, and depends on the Nemesor. If you check the old rulebook, there's hardly any fluff at all, but it does mention that some of the Necrontyr retained their intellect and personality. Basically, the nobles of the Necrontyr got higher-grade bodies, they are Lords, Overlords, and Lychguards since they are bodyguards. They retain their sense of self, wheras Warriors are just automatons completely stripped of self. Immortals got some, but not much.
@Schneboll Basically the Necrontyr wanted was immortality, and got tricked. They are sentient beings in a robot's body. Make no mistake though: They are in no way friendly. They consider more or less anything inferior, but they aren't the mindless murdering machines for the C'tan as they were originally depicted. If you ask me, this makes them more individual and flexible, as they can acrually think and plot. I know not all like the new fluff, but personally, I do.
@kodain As I understood Necrons from say the Dawn of War series, their sense of self and intelligence is only to better and further serve their star gods who hates all life. It is not like the Warhammer universe to let lesser beings think they are not part of some grand scheme from some old god, be it emperor or chaos - "greater good" ideal or otherwise.
@Schneboll In the new fluff, the Necrons turned against the C'tan at the end of War in Heaven in revenge for tricking them into their metal prisons and gorging on their souls. As a result, the C'tan are broken and shattered into crystals, serving the Necrons (So much for lesser beings huh). So no, Necrons don't really serve any gods, they are their own masters now. Their technology is the most advanced of all, even after 10 millenia, they don't need gods, by the power of science!
@kodain@kodain I could buy it the star gods are not perfect, and their enslavement of the Necrons not perfect either - and like some factions breaking out. But what you just wrote is just as absurd as if the Black Legion were to throw off their alliance and enslavement to the Ruinous powers, or even the High Lords of Terra burned the remains of the Emperor. The 40k universe has to be a grim place, the fluff you describe is too happy...
@Schneboll Happy as in having lost your soul and condemned an entire race to a hollow existance? To wake up after 50-60 millennia and find that all you've known is gone, thousands of worlds lost, and several misfunctions in the statis sleep? Chaos own their subjects by the soul, and the Emperor is the only thing protecting mankind atm, he is loved. Necrons got nothing like that.
@kodain Necrons existence is not happy. But your description of them unshackling themselves is. As I wrote, a faction here and there to break free is fine, but killing their gods? No.. The Emperor does not protect, biggest lie the Imperium (=rot and corruption in a fancy package) and fans seem to always fall for. The Emperor is the carrion lord and he is only keeping the astronomicon alive, nothing more..
@Schneboll Astropaths can only work because of the Emperor. No Emperor, no Astropaths. No Astropaths, no communication nor travel. None of those, and mankind is doomed. In other words, the Emperor "protects" mankind. Don't get caught up on a word.
@kodain Your understanding of protection seems vague and misguided. The Imperium protects it self with the lives of its citizens. Keeping a lighthouse alive is not protecting, that is ensuring a point of direction.
@Schneboll Really, you're caught up on one word. Without the Emperor, mankind would just be sitting ducks on their planets without any ability to get anywhere nor communicate with any other planets. Every ship in space would cease to function, getting lost in hyperspace, or drift around endlessly. The fall of mankind would just be a question of time. How hard is that to understand?
@kodain Again, keeping a lighthouse alive is not protecting which you seem to say it is. You are the one caught up on one word. Is this so hard to understand?
@Schneboll Dude, seriously, drop the damn protect issue already, it wasn't even the starting argument. And how do you suggest the Imperium survive without the Emperor and therefore, their Astropaths. Please do tell.
@Schneboll If you're so stubborn to stare yourself blind upon semantics, then by all means yes I am wrong, you are right, be happy now. I'll stop commenting now; it's not worth it.
@klrchimp Might be because it's one of the worst, most limited armies in the game atm. And their up-coming remake hasn't been great from what we've seen so far. And they've removed all the old models from the store, so unless you shop from an old retailer, it's impossible to get some of the units currently in their codex.
