That is actually very pretty video clip, thank you - saw him again in "The Best Years..." and liked him so much that I searched for "Laura" and others, what a star...
I just found this tribute to my father, Dana Andrews. It's a treat to see! How in the world did you ever find a photo of my dad hugging my brother and me - one that I have never seen before? I thought I'd seen everything! (He was a great, great hugger.) I wonder if there is any way that I could find that photo. I'd love to add it to our family's memorabilia cache. I think my father saved every letter ever sent to him and an enormous number of photos. Not that one, though.
Thanks for this tribute to Mr. Andrews. Gone..but not forgotten. I had the pleasure of meeting him and he told me his favorite film role was "The Best Years of Our Lives".but of course he's best remembered for "Laura".
@tallpaul521 tht must of been really awesome! was he has handsome up close as he appears in movies and pictures:)?! The Best Years Of Our Lives was an incredible movie and he did a terrific job playing a returning soldier. He definitely did his country and military proud witht th roll:)
@Terrikins4ever I met Mr. Andrews at a film festival in the late 1970's - don't know how old he would have been, but he was still quite dashing and handsome. Also met, Vincent Price, who co-starred in "Laura". The festival was in Houston, and Gene Tierney was living there at the time -- too bad she didn't attend, would have had 3 of the 5 main "Laura" stars. Miss Tierney is buried here in Houston.
Captain Harvey Ross in the 1944 Purple Heart. Still as great speech as a American B-25 flyer on the Doolittle Mission condemned to death by an Imperial Japanese Military Trial
I'm twenty and I love Dana Andrews' movies. He is one of my all time favorite actors because of his quietness, swagger, smile, eyes, voice, etc; whatever it was, he had it. I can't say which of his movies I am most fond of because I truly love them all. I enjoyed watching this video, thank you.
Gosh thank you for this and I agree he was never given the recognition for his fabulous craft , truly a sensational person I imagine. And so very handsome and confident. It makes me so sad to see how gorgeous these people were in the old days to be beat by father time grow old looks change. I can fall in love with dana just from watching his photos and movies ;) Ms Maryann
One of the very best and my favorite film noir actor. I wish there was some clip out there with Mr. Andrews singing since he was opera trained. Too bad they did not know for State Fair. I read where Dana though the singer dubbing him needed a job so he stayed quiet about his singing background. Rest in peace! Thanks for posting this beautiful piece.
He was a great actor, and so handsome, and it's really sad that nowadays almost nobody know who he was (at least where I came, Peru) Anyway, I am going to be his fan forever
Andrews was a trained singer who hid his talent so as not to become another Dick Powell. Still, I think he did sing in State Fair when he takes Jeanne Crain on the carnival rides. The voice IS his unless someone can prove otherwise.
What a GREAT tribute! THANKS for sharing it with us! I agree that the late great Dana Andrews (whose real life brother is actor Steve Forrest) was a VERY underated performer. I remember as a teen seeing those 70's TV commericials he made on behalf of the efforts to fight alcoholism. He & later Jason Robards are the only two celebrities I recall that did such public service announcements on that subject. He appeared in MANY classics. I hope you & yours have a VERY Happy New Year!!! :)
Dreamy tribute! Saw him in State Fair at 18 and fell in love with everything about his character (the eyes, the manner, the elegance). Later in film class, the prof was talking about the genre of film noir and made us watch the movie Laura-don't think that was a coincidence. He'll be forever young in my mind.
im 18 and he is one of my favorite actors ever. When i first saw Laura i was o in love with him, theres something about the quiet character he played in the beginning that just draws you in every time and the emotion he shows later when questioning her in the interigation room. he was just so talented really underrated and i hope other young people feel the same so he won't ever be forgotten.
Great tribute. Dana Andrews was so terribly underappreciated and underrated. He was very, very good - The Ox-Bow Incident, The Best Years of Our Lives, Where the Sidewalk Ends, Laura, etc. It was a shame that he never got to showcase his skills as a singer! And what a speaking voice he had - just listen to his radio drama I Was a Communist for the FBI and you'll know what I'm talking about. And he seemed to be a wonderful family man, so down-to-earth. Thanks for this :)
a quality tribute,,,,a great actor who sadly never became a superstar but non the less is a major star of fourties classic cinema whos everyman good looks and down to earth acting style gave realism to the dramas of that period
Great photo at 4:18 of Gene,Dana and vincent in the Autumn of their years nice to see them together once again, and Gene though no longer in the summer of life, not quite in the winter of life, still sparkled with beauty and elegance.Where did you source the picture.
God he was soooo sexy!! Great tribute!

Dana Andrews, an all-around beautiful person. Of all the movie stars, he's the only one I would ever have wanted to meet. May he rest in peace.

Dana Andrews: underrated actor, incredibly handsome man, to die for smile, and the most expressive eyes I've ever seen.
I watched The Oxbow Incident for the second time in my life just a few days ago. I think he deserved an Oscar for his acting. Also for Laura.
Here's to you Dana, where ever you are.
