  • these casinos will be mainly slot machines, correct ? most slot players aren't interested in betting on horses and vice versa, they are different breeds of people. That's why a lot of ohioans go over to the Erie,PA Casino instead of spending a night at Northfield Park or Thistledown. If horse racing dies, it's because it's dying already. focus more on keeping the Walter Case Jr. type people out of your sport than worrying about slot machines.

  • By placing these casinos in Ohio, it is going to cost a lot of people their jobs. Why not put in ones like PA has where everybody wins - the horse people and the the people not connected in anyway - everybody wins

  • I don't really have a strong opinion on Issue 3 (and yes, I live in Ohio), but this is a pretty blatant strawman argument. Even assuming every single person involved in horse racing lost his or her job, Issue 3 would still be a net job gain for the state. And to think that no one would go to horse races just because casinos are two hours closer than they are now is odd. That's like saying the OSU Buckeyes would have no fans at their football games if Columbus gained an NFL team.
