The camrea isn't the highest res ever and given the height the ground might appear deceptively smooth, but it seems possible it could have been gently rolling or too uneven to want to risk putting down on.
It's hard to see on Youtube, but there are trees and bushes all over the field directly beneath the helo. It's not a grassy field. Obviously they would have landed if possible. CG must have been the only available asset capable of the rescue since they have the winch and litter. The hurt kid was a BIG boy. That's why the probs. They could've used a winch inside to pull inwards. He really freaked out though. Scary.
yeah i don't understand y they didnt land the chopper. I'm a paramedic and I see airlift choppers land in areas like that all the time. The wind has nothing to do with him possibly having a neck/back injury.
Your guys could do with taking lessons from the Royal Air Force and UK Coast Guard. No way would they allow a casualty come up on his own like that. Also the door on that helicopter is far too small for that type of rescue.
people it dose not matter is they land or not all that matter it the person they was resqueing is alright

Look closer and you can see 15-20ft trees spread throughout the clearing that's why they didn't land
