The problem they had with the infrared lasers is that they used night vision instead of an infrared Camera tuned to the same frequency. If they had they would have seen those beams. Night vision and infrared camera's are not all the same, and you do want filters on those babies to eliminate background noise.
So not so much busted, just nobody did there homework.
As for the glass use a Co2 laser, and as glass is not transparent to the Co2 laser it will cut right through it.
