  • We're made of frozen light... And some people can't see the poetry in that simple statement but see beauty in tales of slaughter...

90% of humanity sacrificed its hability to marvel at reality for second-rate pre-digested philosophy...

  • It's really funny, it looks like all the fundamental constants conspire to make the planck time so ridiculously, vainly small :

    tp = Sqrt( h G / c^5 )

    h : Planck's constant, G : gravity constant, c : light speed.

  • In Germany "Quark" is some kind of yoghurt. So, you are made of milk.

  • Hey, you've got some pretty great vids phil. I don't want to sound like an ass and I realize that you already posted a corection but I'm almost sure the proper notation for 1/1000 of a second would be .001 instead of .0001. Forgive me if I'm wrong or if this has already been pointed out.

  • I'll take a cold fact over a warm lie any day.

  • 1/1836, if my memory's right. Just saying.

  • correction your made of a wave, as light is nothing more than part of the electromagnetic spectrum...

conversely at the quntum level matter exist in a quasi state i.e the orbit of an electron, its wave is smeared over all of its path existing everewhere at the same "time", its velocity and postion can not be known simutaneously such is the deviance of the quantum world

  • I'm pretty certain someone will have pointed it out, but the SI multiplier 'micro-' is 10^-6, 'milli-' would be 10^-3.

If it has been pointed out forgive my not having time to read the comments.

  • MORE than one pointed it out. The correction is in the sidebar. My subscribers don't let me get away with a thing. :)

  • I am surprised that you didn't stumble across the factual error in your video... the diameter of an atom is of the magnitude of 10^(-15) m, the planck length is 10^(-35) m. I suppose it's the size of a string. The planck time is the time that light travels through the planck length - that's how the 10^(-43) s are derived. (You meant to say 10^20 instead of 20, at some point f your video.)

  • We are made of light... truely beautiful. I got a knot in my throat.

  • You think light is our source, very close to 'string theory'.I think the energies emitted at the birth of the universe isn't at all anything like we know!

as a result, light appeared, just like heat, matter and gravitation.

what emitted frequency has a smaller wavelength then light? X-rays? Gamma rays?

Well, think of some radience with a much smaller wavelenghth then that!

And for the record, I am religious, and believe; not everyone believing in creation rules science out of the picture!

  • "I think the energies emitted at the birth of the universe isn't at all anything like we know!"

Tell me your scientific reasoning for that.

"...as a result, light appeared, just like heat, matter and gravitation."

In perfect accord with special and general relativity, E=MC2 etc. What is your reasoning when you disagree?

"And for the record, I am religious, and believe; not everyone believing in creation rules science out of the picture!"

But so far you HAVE ignored science.

  • Due to lack of space, here is my reasoning in part:

The energies emitted at begin of a big bang, simply surpass the light spectrum. Lightwaves are limited; you can't make light brighter by an infinite amount by just continuing to increase its energy.

There's a beginning and an end to anything in this life; also at the scopes of light.

At a certain amount the waves will start to distort.

  • My reasoning is,that the energies emitted are something like everything at once.

If light in order, is like sound and image on a TV tuned to a broadcast, because the waves are picked up from only a few frequencies.

The big bang is more like white noise on your tv (like snow). Too many signals to process.

Evenin the universe there's a limit to the amount of energy possible/cubic ft.

  • I'm not saying atoms aren't made up from something you could call 'light'; all I'm saying is that suppose IF there was a big bang, the energies of this whole universe couldn't possibly fit in the size of a basketball. This is where creation comes to play part.

Maybe the universe is created by a higher energy (unknown to us)falling into a lower energy with the result of the creation of atoms,light,etc...

I believe there'smore to the picture then what meets the eye.

  • You need to read more real science. The good news is that you MIGHT find it interesting. I could fault almost everything you say, but I hear far more destructive stuff from some believers. You are more of a deist than a theist and I don't have any problems with deism.

  • Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't matter what makes up for space?

Energy travels through space, but it isn't space- as matter is...?

So saying that some amount of energy cannot fit into some space is kind of flawed...

Well that's how I understand it.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

  • WOW, That does blow your mind. Some people really don`t comprehend the truth of reality. i like the quote the Universe isn`t queerer than you supose, it`s queerer than you CAN supose. Finding out, or realizing that rocks are mostly made of empty space blew my mind too.

It`s that point of realization that is kind of addictive, it`s a kind of rush, goosbumbs, lump in your throat, tears welling up. i want to know more and more, searching for more mind blowing facts, and all you have to do is read.

  • "You are made of light."

WOW that sentence really knocked me down... I have to remember it, so i can tell it to my children one day :D Great video!

  • Remember to tell yourself too from time to time. :D

  • why did nobody tell me this?!

  • Probably they were, but their voices were drowned out by all the religious "theories" and "day to day" stuff of human existence...

...OR you took that line from my "Contact" vid that you just watched. Either way, at least you know, and that's a good thing. ;)

  • both actually, i thought the line appropriate.

  • It was. Very. :)

  • This has always been one of my certain faves among your vids.

Today I understood completely that it is true.

Watching it now, was like somehow seeing my parents or something, something I can't think of the words for.

  • I BELIEVE THIS IS GENIOUS AS WELL

  • Electrons are 1/1840th the mass of a proton, to be precise x)

    Nice vid

  • I stand corrected. :) (genuine smile)

  • Well, I'm sure some will disappoint you. As for my name: Phil will do just fine. I'm sure you understand. :D

  • 4/5

we're not exactly made of light! of course energetic photons decay into particle-antiparticle pairs. but then we'd have an equal number of particles and antiparticles in the universe, which we clearly don't. light is really a part of the electroweak field, and there are other force and matter fields too... the rabbit hole of particle physics is really really deep. but you captured the essence of what makes HEP physicists tick. :)

  • If that's not something to give you goosebumps at a sunset then smoke some doobs and it soon will! To be a real pedant, slugs and snails and puppy dogs tails are made of light also so when mothers tell their kids that they aren't lying but made of light is much more romantic, granted. Nice vid.

  • Do you teach? If not, it is clearly your calling. I had a physics teacher like you in high school (AP Physics-University Level). I did very well. Unfortunately, the nuns recommended that we girls steer away from science and towards more standard fare. I regret not becoming a Physics Major with all my heart.

  • Thank you very much for the compliment, but as soon as it came to doing ANY maths I would be scratching my head. I'm sorry about the nuns' "advice". Let your regret go. Coulda been worse. You COULD have become a nun. :D

  • That's true. I actually waited for "the call" but it never came. Then, in college, I realized there was more going on then they were telling us. I rocked at mathematics. I used to be able to solve simple algebra just be looking at an equation for a couple of seconds. My son can add simple numbers... he's three. Maybe he'll become the physicist.

  • That's a real shame to see u missed out, but it'll be cool if ur son becomes one in ur place, i think a scientist's journey is just as romantic as any other, science is like the fight to save humanity.

  • yes phil you are made of light, and I feel my light in my heart, so there you go, and it is even more beautiful to be light than the star dust formed by that light. but you made a dangerous point my friend, the Muslims at least will answer that god was light and from that light made everything else. then they will say, And how did mohammed know that??? obviously god told him.

  • In any 1000+ page religious text designed to explain reality there will be some coincidences. Whilst 99.99% of the text remains "bunk" I cannot regret revealing one of the most beautiful facts I know.

  • Nice. I have theories on sound being what creates "movement". Sound created by the brain sends signals to the rest of our bodies. Telekenisis works because the brain creates the proper sound frequency to manipulate exteral objects as in cymatics. Thoughts?

  • what the hell are you smoking, a twig?

  • LOL - That's what HE'D call a "fatty".

  • Black Bessy is ready to be stroked once more ;-)

  • An erudite presentation. Love the ending :-)

  • I can't carry this conversation with you because my comments don't post. If you still claim you are not blocking me, which I really don't care either way, then something weird is happening on your page. Have a nice life.

  • 2000 years ago???? So why was it that till the 15 Century European scientists thought Earth flat and the center of the world?

PS: Don't jump to conclusions yet as to whom is being misled here.

  • Nice video! I don't know if you are aware of this, but the theory of creation is explicitly stated in the holy Quran. A book that is 1400 years old. The whole thing, Big-Bang theory, expanding universe, and light as the source of it all. Science in this case proves the existence of God.
