What they don't tell you is that this "tree wrapping" increases the risk for the tree to gather nasty parasite. Makes it more susceptible to fire. Restricts bark growth. Also it prevents some animals from making their homes. So they're not only hurting the tree, but also the animals that rely on that tree for shelter and a home.
