the baloon can only be seen when close to the ground in the valley. if youre flying there you may not see it. also you can fly the baloon higher than that by going in the basket and hitting triangle. choppers go to 4.25 km, baloon goes to 6.40 km high.

Actually the rate at which Rico falls is inaccurate in this game (a little slow to be exact)

Terminal velocity for a human is around 210 km/h which equals out to around 56 meters per second but only when arms and legs are out stretched. Though Rico is falling at around 56 meters per second in the video, he is at a nearly vertical position which would accelerate him to speeds that exceed 362 km/h. If this game were accurate then Rico would be falling this fast without having to pitch down at all.
