  • Anyone know why this is the only song on the album that's not on spotify?

  • I chose to watch this one instead of the music video, because honestly...Fleet Foxes don't need flashy videos. The song is beautiful enough. :)

  • story of my life

  • Beautiful

  • @lefty405

oh wait know i see where you were talking about, sorry

  • @lefty405

flemish is in belgium, dutch is in the netherlands. there's no such thing as netherlandish, i live in holland so i can know it ;)

  • This song has changed my life, makes me realize not everyone is going for the same sounds. I have discovered good music.

  • I have a sizeable erection.

  • there's nothing I can say - that can really describe this song to its full awesomeness

  • love this song. i need to hear the new album

  • Steely Dan?

  • This is so amazing, words don't do it justice.

  • thew new album just isn't as good..the songs are too forced..every song on this album is so raw..raw emotion

  • The painting on the album cover is "Flemish Proverbs" by Pieter Bruegel.

  • @Lyubov91 Netherlandish (not Flemish) Proverbs ;)

  • @lefty405 Sorry, my bad. The art history book I checked with said Flemish. :(

  • beautiful piano at the end

  • dude thanks so much for the uploads. FF For Life!!!

  • I have a beard fetish now.

  • Reminds me of Band of Horses in some ways, but entirely original... LOVE them both.

  • THERES NOTHING I CAN DOOOOOOOO

to keep mylself away from the fleet foxes!!! much loveeee

  • i heard this before somewhere, i was sure it was a 60's classic before.

  • I hear a hint of the Brithish Invation sound in this song. Just a hint, and only in this song.

  • haha I am listening to this song for the first time busy focused on working but listeing to this chilled song with my headphones quite loud haha but just TOTALLY flipped @ 2:48 when he speaks out of tune from the song thinking there was someone talking next to me in my office .. woa .. haha cheeky bastard!

  • all i want is to play the piano solo at the end

  • Masterpiece!

  • shutup all u damn hipsters and ur arguing about NOTHING... chill the fuck out and LISTEN TO THE SONG!!!!

  • @07hesky07 YOUR DEF. OF HIPSTER

  • one of my favorite songs...EVER!

  • just heard this song yesterday.

    my new favorite song.

  • i cant masturbate

  • @BlushingBull Try using your tears as lube. Trust me.

  • love this sooo much. amazing.

  • Why are you discussing chart music in the comments of a Fleet Foxes video.

    I really don't know why...

Not really a lover of them though... but this one is really ADORABLE

  • Fleet Foxes are like a light a ray of sunlight in a world of crontrived dumbed down shite i.e lady gaga and co.

Does anyone know the story of what this song is about?

  • @eli76ful That doesn't make sense, even metaphorically, seeing as this "world" they're a shining light on isn't the same one as with Lady Gaga. When you compare music, compare mainstream with mainstream and indie/unsigned bands with eachother. That way there's no bias. If you ask me, there are both good and bad mainstream artists, and compared to some, Lady GaGa isn't all that bad. I'd take her over Miley Cyrus or JB any day.

  • @azimuth457 Lady Gaga and all she stands for is all about dumbing down, just pay attention to her lyrics, her methods of marketing and over sexualised behaviour and perhaps you'll understand what I mean. I work with kids, and when you hear 7 year old girls singing "I wanna take a ride on your disco stick" and imitating her, It really does enlighten you as to how so called artists like her have a direct effect on people, particularly kids, and I would'nt call it a positive effect.

  • @eli76ful That's not what I'm talking about. Lady GaGa's lyrics may seem blatantly sexual and inappropriate, but she actually puts a lot of thought into her lyrics, image, and music, which is to me, more important than the content. You may feel disgusted that 7 year olds repeat her music, but is that her fault or the music industry's? She's making music well, she doesn't have any say in who listens to it. The same way many metal bands sing with tons of cursing, they just aren't on MTV.

  • @azimuth457 It's a matter of opinion, I hear yours and i'm all for freedom of choice.

However, there is evidence to support the powerful influence musicians who reach a so called 'idol' status have over people and not just children. Not all influence is bad. But when it is bad, it helps when people creating it take some responsibility.

The word 'disgusted' is not accurate, but rather saddened, as I see so many kids who don't act like kids for following their 'idols'.

  • Sounds like something to listen to on a late afternoon drive in the winter, with the hazy sun peeking through silvery clouds. I love songs that give me that kind of imagery :). Beautiful. Piano at the end is a nice touch, too.

  • great song ! makes me dream everytime

  • Gorgeous Music...

  • Fleet Foxes music are so AWESOME ;D

  • I hope my sister is doing okay.

  • @Skinnydips Somehow, Skinnydips, those seven words combined with this Fleet Foxes song just hit hard. Good luck to you.

  • This is possibly the best/worst thing I have ever scene

  • I love the end and well the whole song.

  • let yourself be rocked back and forth... What a great song

  • This makes me wanna become a hippie. Beautiful music.

  • chills at 1:44. amazing what gold comes from a band i'd never heard of til last week. and here i was thinking that kings of leon were the best, but now that spot has been overtaken. you know it seems like something can be your favorite for a while, years even, but you end up changing and changing your favorites, but i feel pretty comfortable with fleet foxes. "there's nothing i can do."

  • @pooponbutt

KoL suck listen to more music

  • @abaofifsz i'm pretty sure i'm listening to fleet foxes right now. does that count, all mighty smiter?

  • @pooponbutt dr.dog Heart it races .listen!! ull love this band

  • @24onepiece you were right. gold. any other suggestions.

  • its nice to see that theres still ppl that sing cus they want and not cus of the money .. its really nice (: and 1 more thing - there amazing !

  • Pure piece of amazing

  • Fleet Foxes has meaning, and beauty, and thoughtfulness. It's such a shame that more popular music can't say the same. Every FF song has a story, a meaning. Lady GaGa and Justin Bieber could learn something, if they heard this, they would probably be like, OMFG WOW, A GOOD SONG!

  • @SnapAtMeJasper ...Or then again, probably not :).

  • @Ssaaarra Hahahaha, maybe not

  • @SnapAtMeJasper or knowing how bad taste the world (including them) they'd spit on this song cuz dey hav such terrible taste. anyone who doesnt lyk fleet foxes is either tone death, dead, or is just so ignorant and idiotic that they cant recognize greatness.

  • @spazzyspazzygirl Hmm, good point. I weep for the world.

  • What a fantastic song

  • There's nothing I can do

    There's nothing I can do

    There's nothing I can say

    There's nothing I can say

    I can say

my favourite song by fleet foxes

  • best song in the world i've decided. its just the most beautiful song in the world.

  • See your rugged hands and a silver knife Twenty dollars in your hand that you hold so tight All the evidence of your vagrant life My brother you were born And you will try to do what you did before Pull the wool over your eyes for a week or more Let your family take you back to your original mind There's nothing I can do There's nothing I can do There's nothing I can say There's nothing I can say I can say
  • Penniless and tired, with your hair grown long

I was looking at you there and your face looked wrong

Memory is a fickle siren song

    I didn't understand

In the gentle light as the mornin' nears

you don't say a single word of your last two years

Where you were or when you'll reach the frontier

    I didn't understand, no

  • <3<3<3<3

  • that was truly worthwhile ha

  • This reminds me of The Mamas & The Papas

  • i love fleet foxes!!!

    saludos desde México!!

  • finally my faith in modern music is restored, the best modern band by a long way.

  • @andycasdmx check out dr.dog

  • @andycasdmx it's like they time traveled.

  • @andycasdmx yeah them and MGMT make me think there is hope for humanity

  • @ZACKnirvana explosions in the sky. listen to them. theyre a different kind of music that gives humanity a purpose

  • @andycasdmx now the new sport, is to find good bands :)

  • i love fleet foxes

    so much

i really want to see them live

anyone know if they are ever performing anywhere in england anytime?#

i love this song so much <3

  • This song is on the Vatican's MySpace playlist. For real.

  • Should that be a good thing? I don't think Fleet Foxes would be honored :)

  • Fresh and skillful Fleet Foxes brings a quality sound where some is needed so badly. Hats off....

  • are they even real?

  • @WhatIddoforpie Thankfully.

  • I was replying to keitb3's comment but yeah, I agree...

  • penniless and tired, let your hair grow long!

  • wrong

  • The only song that can relax me as much as this one is Welcome Home, Son by Radical Face.

  • Is there album cover a heironymous bosch?

  • Pieter Brueghel the Elder actually

  • I knew it was too normal to be a Bosch.

  • HIEryonymus bosch, and no. It is a Breugel. I can see how you'd think it was a Bosch though.

  • Thats great, but the original will always be better.

  • that might make me sad.

    no

it would definitely make me sad. the killers could never do fleet foxes justice.

  • nah, so far as I've heard, the Killers have made pretty good covers, of course you can't expect a cover band to be as good as the original band on their original music, but there are some exceptions

  • An example of a cover being better than the original would be Russell Watson's cover of "Bridge Over Troubled Waters." The original was almost unbearable because of the squeaks of his voice, but Mr. Watson brings power and depth to it. I'd suggest that song - it's very good, and almost similar to this. :)

  • they said they would i think, they definitely mentioned doing a fleet foxes cover. i really wanna know what that is gonna sound like, they have pretty different sounds

  • I'm in love with this song<33

  • I heard this in Home Depot. I was sooooo excited.

  • ME TOO! <3

  • whats home depot? whats this song about?

  • Stunning....sooooooo good! Man.....western sky music,delicate and beautiful.

  • wow-could be Smile-era Beach Boys and that is meant as a compliment. beautiful vocals, arrangements, very moving, passionate-

  • one of my favorites from them

  • saddest song

  • im sooo sooo amazed buy that

  • This sounds like an older song like say, from the 60s. It reminds me of The Association.

  • this band has changed my life

  • The Killers covered this song live yesterday at Hove in Norway!

  • is it anywhere on youtube?

  • We are here now!

  • this is so magical, i love these guys!

  • omg where the hell have I been? I just discovered this band and love it!

I hate to say this, but his voice reminds me of Chris Martin of Coldplay, but better!

  • why do you hate to say that Chris Martin has a good voice?

  • Sounds nothing like Chris Martin.

  • chris martin's voice is way more clean. and i dont think its comparable to robin pecknold's very natural voice.

  • eww thats an insult. chris martin sux

  • Another track to unburden to ....

    Uplifting and invigorating .....

  • why are you talking about ac/dc?

this is a fleet foxes song?

and they rock harder than ac/dc anyyyyway

    :)

  • i just grabbed next to my tickets to see them : ( rock werchter sold out the day i wanted to get my ticket!!

  • ac/dc tracks just sound the same every single time, its drab and monotonous crap.

  • once you've heard one ACDC song, you've heard them all.

  • Thats bull and you know it

  • definitely not. seriously, listen to the riffs. all the same.

  • tuneee

  • Absolutely beautiful; such a heavenly sound!

  • Best Album in 2008 start to finish . Every track is its own little piece of goodness :)

  • beardo bands rule

  • this is the only beardo band I really like though!

  • same

  • have you heard band of horses yet?

i love those guys as much as the fleets ^_^

check no one's gonna love you and funeral!

  • band of horses is great too

  • AGREED!

on both of the things you said lol

  • All this talk about them stealing their sound from my morning jacket is garbage. The vocal harmonies do sound similair in some but this is so much more natural. From someone who loves both, it is completely different, MMJ is like Fleet foxes meets MGMT.

  • for me this is the best 2008 album, great music by fleet foxes

  • Beach Boy-esque harmonies.....

  • normaly i dont lie this type of music but i like ths song..

  • great song! such a good album!

  • Saw them live a couple of days ago, fantastic band - awesome harmonies. I don't think they played this song though unless I'm mistaken :(

  • You're probably gonna kill me, but I just discovered this band (and I think they're great) and I think the singer really sings like Chris Martin...A great song by the way.

  • im sure Chris Martin wishes so....

  • Takes you away....and always to a nicer place......

  • Kieth's being a fine place to take in the sights. It is in the 'bohemian' quarter of Liverpool. Many a local musician has spent a fair proportion of their time there.

Worth opening a bottle of good Rioja there sometime.

    Shalom

  • This was playing in Kieths wine bar today. It is the first time that I have heard FF being played in the outside world.

I stopped to take a listen

    x

  • which Keith's wine bar was that?

  • It is good to laugh

  • THAT HAS GOT TO BE THE BEST USERNAME THAT i HAVE SEEN

    rock and roll

  • great song

  • metal¿

    XDDD

  • fuckk this isn't metal, it's HEAVY metal

  • folk (L)

  • Jeez ArseBags, talk about damning him with faint praise ffs, a beautiful voice, a beautiful song, top !.

  • Haha... not a fan of Embrace then? lol :-)

It's only here and there, but i can hear it in places. I'd bet they've probably never heard of Embrace anyway... he definitely has a better vocal range than Danny - then again, so does my right shoe.

  • Favorite song on the Album .....enlightening....I hear a tiny bit of richard ashcroft in his voice

  • Just bought the album. Bloomin' marvellous, it is.

There's a hint of Embrace's Danny Macnamara sound in Peknold's voice.

  • This song is marvelous.

  • This is the kind of metal I wanna hear more of.

  • metal? not really metal my main man more like neo 60's "psychedelic lite"

  • Metal ?, metal ? wtf ? this has more in common with Nick Drake or The Beach Boys than AC/DC and thank fuck for that.

  • wtf? AC/DC is ROCK

  • impressive. nice melodies and harmonies, very cool.

  • I love this song.

  • :D

    i love this.
