Cool, one of the very few bands of this style that used synth drums (the hexagon shaped drums are Simmons drum pads, discontinued in the early 90's). I love synth drums, very defining of the decade. I thought they sounded better then real drums to a certain extent.
I have not seen this video or heard this song in over 25 years. Yes, I'm old. I never had the tape, but I still liked this band. They're second song "I've got no room for you're love." was also a very good song.
This song was popular in the late 80's in a kind of strange time for synth pop music and new wave;they were both dying because hip hop was starting to take off,but I'd rather listen to this or The Call,Baltimora etc.A few bands survived in the 90's because their talent level was just too great to be ignored like Depeche Mode and Duran Duran and even Devo was still making some good stuff but Depeche Mode still lives strong even now and that shows deep reserve in the genius minds of that band.
I love when i see videos of songs that I loved but wasn't sure anyone even heard of them before...Rock on Device....still have this "album" on vinyl...it's the true 80s sound.
@nccvball Indeed this song is one of many underrated tunes of the 80s -- many people do not know it even exists! Just about 16 thou views and I think that by now it should have at least ten times that many. But slowly people will discover it. Also, you are right, the quality of the video is superb. Elconquistador did a great job with this one!
@stormwolf77 You do? That is quite neat -- this song in vinyl sounds awesome. I too miss this era of music, and pretty much everything that took place in the 80s. To me it was such a good, positive time!
Love this Band! There was not a bad song on this album, I agree with a commenter below. I played the sh8t out of the cassette and the album. I have another vinyl tucked away. Always wondered why they didn't catch on.
Best AOR of the 80's.........Awesome drum sound, mega production, Paul one of the best vocalists around, and as for Holly Knight - one of the best ever - great songs, great voice, and one of the world most beautiful women as well.........
I agree, all the songs are good on this album. I actually have one of the rare CD's in existence! I haven't found too may other ppl who have heard of Device or remember them LOL..
Freakin' AWESOME quality video and audio!!!

I vaguely remember this track.
Love it.
The modulation in the melody is very progressive.
Always great to see a Fairlight in a video (the bit with the monitor and lightpen).
Those things were the price of a house back then.
My guess is this track is from 1986.
