It's kind of hard not to be amazing when your band has the drummer of Dark Angel, the bassist of Sadus, and the lead guitarist of Forbidden in it, and your name happens to be Chuck Schuldiner.
My first metal show ever, Death in July 93 Salisbury MA. Its hard to go to shows after you see the best band ever for your first show!!! Nobody ever lived up to this.
Yeah! Fuck Judas priest, death are the fucking metal gods! Or wait! Don't fuck Judas Priest they're also fucking awesome! But not as awesome as death!
PS.-Just a footnote to the Gene Hoglan/Paul Bostaph drum-swap,&where Dave Lombardo fits into the puzzle.Bostaph went from Forbidden to the Testament tour in '93,right before replacing Lombardo in Slayer.Hoglan played on Testament's '97 album "Demonic",but Lombardo replaced Hoglan for "The Gathering" follow-up album in '99.Lombardo historically rejoined Slayer in 2005,and now Bostaph is on the new Testament album & 2008 tour.Hoglan is playing drums for the Forbidden reunion shows of 2008!
"The Ultimate Revenge II" was the show with Forbidden,Death,& Dark Angel did for Combat. Can you believe that was 20 years ago? Gene Hoglan played with Dark Angel back then, they played after Death.Of course he is playing with Chuck here, but in a bizarre game of musical drum-chairs,Gene is now doing the Forbidden reunion 2008 tour!(as Paul Bostaph's playing in Testament again,a band that Gene has also recorded with).Gene is coming to Australia to do a series of drum-clinics in a fortnight.Awesome!
Thanks for posting. This is a metal supergroup!Backing up Chuck, the King of Death Metal (R.I.P.)are the mighty Gene Hoglan from Dark Angel (now days S.Y.L./Dethklok & countless others),bass legend Steve DiGiorgio from underground gods Sadus, and for the tour only,Forbidden's Craig Locicero, yet another San Francisco Bay Area guitar hero (who replaced King Diamond's Andy LaRoque from the "Individual Thought Pattterns" recording sessions.) A dream line-up either way you look at it!
Yeah, best bootleg ever. I have the Combat Tour 2 when Death played after Forbidden and Dark Angel, this is some relation about the musicians that play in those bands (Gene and Craig) I think Chuck saw them and recluit, but for ITP session musician was Andy LaRoque... RIP Chuck.
Chuck great!, Hoglan one of the best drummers of thrash metal when he was with Dark Angel, DiGiorgio fucking kick ass they are videos of him playing with fretless bass :S!!!
