mine looks like a 360 but it plays ps3 games it took me a week and a bit to do i got a ps3 disc drive and hard drive of the internrt (for ps3 $60) then i modified the ps3's disc drive to recognise a xbox 360's games aswellas ps3 games and then therest was took up modding the xboxs hard drive by combing them to eter all in a xbox360's case

some people actually run a second cord because through you ip adress microsoft can run through it and look at your power input and if its way higher than it should be they can tell theres a mod on your xbox and since that mod could be something like a lag switch or just some way of cheating they can actually ban you

A lag switch wouldn't use a higher voltage. Also, the HDD uses electric, so in comparison with voltages of Arcade Xbox's with premium and elite, if Microsoft done what you say they would end up banning everyone with a HDD! These kinda mods are perfectly fine, you only have to worry if you actually use a lag switch. Keep Pimpin' :)

The hardware generates something like a hash, or a md5 sum,or some other form of digital signature based on hardware routine checks.

If the slihtest piece of hardware is modded, then the digital signature won't be the same as what's assigned to the console, and bang - your console will NEVER work on XB live again.

However - LED lights simply connect 2 the pwr supply - not the computing hardware, if you know what i mean. So thus, no mod! ^_^ that it can detect

I've never had to use smt's for anything i've been trying to do :(. So i can't help you there.

I do have a simple,easy tip if your soldering components to a motherboard or replacing led's on a dvd drive pcb for example.

Take a sized sheet of thin tin, drill a series of holes in it, and use that when soldering.
