There is no such thing as a 'vampire.' There are merely cannibals, sadists, masochists and sadomasochists among the few who MAY drink blood. Blood may provide nutrition - but its also a very easy way of transmitting lethal diseases. A person cannot live off of blood exclusively. In your sense a vampire could live off of blood exclusively with NO side effects. So no, there is no such thing as a vampire. Just like all other mythical creatures - fanciful tales for awesome anime!

@TheAwsomness189 yes, I have heard of these sitings but with that said every culture has sitings as well, except Egypt...I can't account for the blood though. As said each culture has stories sitings and farther back you go into every culture the more superstitious you get. With death famine and disease they blamed it on vampires. I don't think I can pinpoint the oldest of legends but I can say that with certainty.

the anime Hellsing had two different plots. One that followed the original story and one that didn't. The ova was actually rather put together well due to following the original plot, while the series did suck because it didn't really have much of a plot other then gore.
