I'm wondering if anyone has noticed how old this video is or read any of the previous comments by me, but that's ok. I WOULD take this video down, but I'm content with watching those of you who just HAVE TO let me know what an 'idiot' I am make asses of yourselves. This is a really old subject by now and yes, there are many, many other, better slowed versions. My favorite are the 100 different %ages mentioned, all different, all so sure THEY'RE correct. Yawn. STILL 11 likes to 1 dislike, too.
@crazyirishdan, just wondering do you listen to any other blues artist of RJ's time? There were some really good singers and players, capable of playing the same speed as RJ and hitting the high notes, but the difference is RJ did it better,here was a guy who worked hard at what he did and then some guy comes around 70 years later saying this is how he "actually" sounded,lol...you shouldn't be allowed around RJ's music, peace
You appear maybe to have overdone it. Sources are saying the right speed is about 15% slowed down. This appears TOO slow, and is making him sound off. Compared the slowed-down Terraplane Blues currently up, at 85%. Sounds much better.
you can here the bits mashing all together because this is too slow. robert johnson's recordings could have been sped up, but not by the degree it has been slowed down here.
Fair comment. If u listen to his voice at this speed it just sounds unnatural. Admittedly we've all got used to hearing it sped up but this is way to slow. Have a look at the other version knocking around on YouTube under "have you ever heard Robert johnson's real voice" or something to that effect. That's far bearer the original in my opinion
@swisstony182 Look up Dax Riggs/Acid Bath. Listen to a song like 'God Machine'. That guy was 17 when that song was recorded, and I've met him - he's like 130 lbs, tops. Ronnie Van Zandt was like 5'6". Size has nothing to do with how your voice is structured - just ask Mike Tyson.
I'm not saying my rendition is quite accurate down to the last detail or anything like that, but age/size isn't a good enough argument, because there are plenty of small baritones and large altos out there.
Thanks for the recommendation. GB works all right for regular, 'tape machine' style recording and does some other things well, but their deep editing stuff isn't anything to write home about. I'll have to try out Audition, thanks!
hmm. i'd recommend using audition, your garageband modification didnt reduce pitch and speed equally, resulting in some very apparent artifacts.. still a stellar effect. i'd recommend using Adobe Audition and reducing it closer to 15%. just me tho.
No, it does not sound right at all.

This is so stupid just because hes black doesnt atomatically make him have such a deep voice that he had to speed up his recordings

I think this is too slow, but closer to the actual performance than what we've always heard

slowed down too much.

I´d like this speed, but in the original take. Here causes distortion, but anyway good idea and intention. Thanks.

@crazyirishdan

@MrAlex0262 Thanks for your opinion, and don't forget to go fuck yourself on the way out. Thanks for playing.

Actually it should be slowed down to 94,8% of the original.

@Pakanahymni 94,8% to what album? The Complete Robert Johnson or King of the Delta Blues?

Way to slow. I reckon it's 5-10% maximum. The guy was in his twenties and skinny as you like - no way he had a voice that deep
