I'm a native Milwaukean that has explored the world. Having traveled to over 160 US cities, 22 foreign countries & 4 of 7 continents, I can say with absolute clarity that Milwaukee has fantastic venues for everyone! The 5 county metro area has a population just shy of 2 million peeps with resources, entertainment and culture to match.
There is much to celebrate in Milwaukee because of our superb quality of life, diverse culture, dining and entertainment options. There are 3 rivers that m
One of the better travel videos I've ever seen on my hometown....
And everyone is welcome to visit Milwaukee, but the summer is best....the last week of June into the first week of July is Summerfest. If you love music, hit it up!
my girlfriend is from Milwaukee and I just took a vacation there a couple weeks ago. I have to say, I LOVE Milwaukee, it's a beautiful place, it's fun, and the people are cool as hell(from what i saw anyway). I honestly want to move to Milwaukee, it just feels like home to me
by the way i'm from Jacksonville, FL and it's so boring here and there's nothing here, so Milwaukee is definitely fun for me!
Milwaukee has its moments but it has absolutely NO nightlife which is a little disappointing considering how much cheap beer there is to go around. But believe me, even at 10 o'clock on the weekends - this place is a ghost town.
Still, its a cool little city - it has an interesting culture, can't really describe it but imagine a German, Lake Michigan boatswain's industrial safe-haven. (lol, I don't know)
Anyway, On a sunny day - the perfect place to chill with a beer and a brat.
@TehSmellulare Do you even know of the eastside, or have the political ones killed that too?
Mad Planet, the BBC, the Oriental, are these not full of people anymore?
I don't know what you're talking about, but it ain't about Milwaukee.
I hate the politics in Wisconsin, and have been to many other places outside, I still have a "to-death" love for my Hometown, and unless you have walked to the beach from seven bridges to walk the stars, don't tell me you know.
The only time Milwaukee is attractive is usually during the summer, where Milwaukee earns most of its revenue through its summertime attractions such as Summerfest ect.
The downsides of Milwaukee are a lack of jobs, VERY high taxes, segregated residential areas, and lack of socialization.
If you're wondering, yes, I am a resident of Milwaukee and have been for 25 years.
Visited Milwaukee for the first time from Boston last summer. Fun, fun town. Hit summerfest, boating on lake Michigan lots of bars, I was very surprised.
I only live like an hour away and still havnt got to see milwaukee! AHHHH dammit! lol..... Such an agonizing wait for a wisconsin 19 year old to turn 21.. >:(
as close as chicago is,i only been there once in my life but never had the chance to see what the city had to offer because i was only up there for a family reunion where only a 1/4 of my family showed up on a cool and rainy summer day. needless to say i didnt stay long, good thing chicago is just a hop-skip-and jump from millwalkee. whenever i get another car i'll be sure to visit on a weekend or in my spare time since it's so close.
He skipped over a few things. Like all the ethnic festivals during the summer. Including the largest music festival in the world, Summerfest. And all the other ethnic festivals which is why it is call the "City of Festivals". Milwaukee has a fantastic collection of Parks, a county Zoo, boating, a MLB baseball stadium, NBA basketball, the historic Pabst Theater, The Rave, and a world class symphony orchestra. The metro population is about 1.7 million.
"...gift shops, restaurants, the whole Harley experience right here in Milwaukee."
I always imagined the whole Harley experience would be more like drinking a lot of cheap beer, wearing black leather and growing a beard...oh and driving a Harley.
Other places worth visiting are the Milwaukee Public Museum, the Domes, and anywhere along the lakefront if visiting during the summmer. Nothing beats the many festivities along the lakefront such as Summerfest and all the other ethnic festivals that Milwaukee has to offer.
The church or neighbourhood festivals are even better in my opinion. Locust Street festival, Rockerbox, or any of the many parish festivals can be a real kick.

I think the best thing to do and what I do with visitors is to drive to get an overview and then dive into the neighbourhood taverns.
A cheap way to see various points of the city is the Route 15 County Transit bus.

the now once retired Broad Vocabulary (strong feminist book store) in Bay View, the Horror Movie exhibition (graveyard records) in Cudahy
(IT'S ALL STILL PART OF MILWAUKEE)
the lgbt center in downtown
and a bit HUGE blocks down Pathfinders
for homeless youth
also the free Condos/Studio previews every weekend in downtown, they're everywhere!
i love milwaukee, i've been here 19 years
i'm 20 now, it's amazing.
come, you won't be disappointed!
