@MutleeIsTheAntiGod fundamentally, one doesn't learn to hack, one learns how something works and from that understanding is able to do unexpected or unusual things to it. Hacking isn't about breaking or exploiting things, or even specifically about computers. It's the grandchild of the enlightenment mentality: knowledge for the love of knowledge :) Whatever it is that you love, drink deeply of it, until the well is dry; when you reach the bottom, you will discover that you can hack it.

It's best not to wait til the well is empty. You may find you can "hack" the well, but that doesn't mean you'll find water, so you need to find your work-around before it is needed.
The system is in power because it thought ahead. So, then "hacking" as you describe it should be used to stay ahead of the system, if one wishes to be powerful.
I'm pretty useless with a computer, actually, but I understand hacking as: "being told 'You can't' and then doing it anyway."
