  • Can you make a video for japanese music?

  • Well, I dont really hear you speak Japnaese long enough, but the Daruma character speaks really well. It was like somebody native Japnaese dubbed it.

  • @BruceIno i did that voice... lol

  • @daiquirikiss I guess some people can't tell, plus its your hand moving Daruma san. Off the subject, how do you write Daruma san's name in Japanese (Kanji or is it Hiragana)? Also, how do you write KY in Japanese, too. :) Thank you (will upload a video for you of another example of KY). :)

  • @dragonballz0 daruma I think is usually hiragana, but it has kanji. They just hardly use it I think. 達磨. The first kanji means either "multiples" like 私達 or "to arrive" like 速達便 express delivery. The second one means "improve" and is usually used for "歯磨き" brushing teeth. I always see it in hiragana though. I think it's because the kanji don't really give a "daruma" image. KY is 空気が読めない.

  • @daiquirikiss Anyone ever compare you to Ellen Paige? Nevertheless, I just caught on to your vids and enjoy them very much. Keep 'em coming!

  • so KY is only the situation of pressing somebody for information that they may not want to give because its socially awkward or embarrassing, right?

I thought it could also mean when for example someone fails to judge the mood or energy levels of the group, for example they are too loud or say inappropriate things... thats not KY is it? Thats just... lameness haha

    Nice vid x

  • @hanneesh both are KY.

  • 0:50-0:55! Haha! whoa!

    okay okay...

This KY stuff was pretty interesting. It happens a lot. I hate it when things get to that point at 6:28! IT's like...oh no...I want to be friendly...but what do I do now!....7:35 is very true. Interesting to know how that is in Japanese though.

    3:35-3:55! 3;-)

  • liked your video. don't want to send this thread in a weird direction but did you know that mokusatstu is kind of a famous word cause the prime minister of japan at the time of the potsdam declaration was said to have taken a stance of mokusatsu...and it is said that because this was translated as contemptuous silence...this enraged the U.S. military and may have provoked the atomic bombings.

  • what are the general teens views on drink and drugs there? are they similar to UK and USA where its pretty common and not taboo? sorry for the bad phrasing lol

and thanx for the vid, very unique and useful, unlike the frequent formal stuff you see alot, id like to see more, subscribed :D

  • sorry i meant to add sexuality into the views bit -^ ^-

  • Hey! Been watching your videos for some time... this is my first reply though.

About 黙殺... I asked my Japanese friend about it (this word )and she didn´t realy seem to know what I was talking about. So I was wondering where you got this 黙殺 thing from? Maybe it depends on where in Japan you are.

Altough I do agree... Japanese people like to 無視する.

I´m looking forward to your mixi video! Because... it seems impossible to get in without a japanese cellphone.

  • my friend told me he found the word in a dictionary. Thing is with dictionaries is that they seem to know ancient/difficult words that the average Japanese person wouldn't know. So my bad for that... If she did a search in alc maybe she could find it.

I actually wasn't able to cross the cellphone barrier either. I suggest you ask your friend to lend her cell phone email address and that way she can confirm it for you.

  • wow when i clicked to watch this video i was expecting you to talk about KY jelly for women... haha.

    great vid nonetheless :D

  • Haha, I have that song

  • awesome!

  • Very informative , thanks for the video :)

  • no prob.. keep watching. I'm always posting.

  • Wow! Your Japanese is getting really good!!

  • noooo! it's getting worse! Staying here slows me down... lol

  • Lol. Sounds good to me! :)

  • Is it also mokusatsu when 2chan foot soldiers get on the Yamanote Halloween Train and just sit there and glare at the party goers?

  • no... that's called patience. lol.

  • You might think so, but the 2chan otaku came out specifically to protest the party. You should see RoninDave's coverage of the 2008 party.

    watch?v=v-jNaKHVnTw

  • no.. i wouldn't call it mokusatsu... the 2chan people are already angry at the situation.. so it's not mokusatsu. Don't let the literal translation of the kanji fool you.

  • thanks! Yea i can help you with that. Keep watching. Maybe I'll make a video. Tell your friends if you think they'd watch.

  • About the story in the video you've responed to, it was fiction. But thanks for the video.

  • OK. Can you tell us if getting a job in Japan is difficult than getting a job here in the states?

  • it's only hard if you can't read/speak japanese well. Next you'll need a BA degree at least... and be able to go through several interviews (Japan likes to do a series of interviews before hiring).

  • Thank you for the video. When I ask an internet person for his/her address, he/she thinks I'm going to kidnap him/her or something like that so that person didn't trust me. If I do that to a Japanese person, will it be the same thing?

  • you shouldn't ask someone you JUST MET online for their address. This sounds fishy for ANY culture... not just Japan. If you asked me for my address, I would think you'd try to stalk me and block you asap.

  • DUDE!!! Come on!
