  • Treble Charger >>>>>>>>> Sum41... without question.

  • This version is supreme. Did Nori ruin the band by becoming too much the focus? The vocal on this is cool.

  • i wish this band was still together. breaks my heart

  • I miss when treble charger were good before that pop punk shit.

  • This was the first video I ever was a fan of on MuchMusic.

The newer album version is totally differet.

This is real Canadian rock music. True and amazing.!!!

  • <3

  • This Reminds Me Of Oasis, But Canadian

  • The guy singing looks like Spencer Rice

  • wow how can i not find this song in itunes? too much of a great tune or would the amount of downloads crash itunes (y)

  • their best song perhaps

  • i can get all their collection on torrent but NC-17 is not available as torrent..

NC-17 being the main album I want to get back above all rest. I had a signed copy of the album way back then but disappeared.

  • Whats wrong with American Psycho?

  • yeah!

  • Even as a kid, I knew something tragic had happened when they released American Psycho.

  • I knew these guys....great bunch...and this song certainly takes me back

  • oh I forgot how much I love this song....miss you TC

  • What a sweet song and video. And then... they made American Psycho :/

  • @AnaDroid

they made american psycho and all that other absolute garbage way later when that cunt nori had taken over the entire band. bill priddle continues to make solid alternative/folkish music (working, at times, with broken social scene at times (much more his style) , not to diminish from his other output). thank god for sum 41 which put an end to treble charger since nori effectively bailed to manage full-time. i remember i eventually hid my nc17 cd so no-one would make fun of me.

  • jeez.. haven't seen this video in a million years.. thanks for uploading it :)

  • I remember this song in the summer of 95... used to think the singer was such a nerd... But the song grew on me and was good. Plus that native/aboriginal chick was pretty fine :p

  • CFNY.... definitely.

  • We played with these guys in Welland many years ago (Maryjane). Great guys. Was a fun time. So many of the local bands from then are impossible to find now. I'd kill for some Grasshopper - Anyone wanna go to Neptune?

  • Compliments unwilling to pay...... good Lord, don't know how many times that lyric has crossed my mind since the last time I heard this song, probably '93 or '94, truly memorable if I do say so. CFNY indeed! "The history of New Music", was it on Sunday evenings? Listening vicariously to Toronto from just West of the Niagara I heard and liked these guys, Ghandarvas, the Low, the Hip, Spirit, Pure, and finally, the best combo ever, Sloan. Thanks for posting this, looked it up on a whim.

  • It's because the record label didn't promote them that well, and Greig Nori the lead singer was tied up managing SUM41, which derailed Treble Charger. Greig was under pressure, juggling too many things at once.

  • Awesome song. just hear it on the Edge :)

  • Great Tune...!!

  • ahh when my love of music was just taking root... great song

  • TC FTW !!!!

  • ahhhh good old skate boarding days

  • When Treble Charger was good ... ah, thanks for the memories!

  • saw treble charger at carleton frosh week 2003 must have been one of the last shows

  • Saw Treble Charger at Friendship Fest in Fort Erie,ON....1994 or 1995 with my late friend Hooch. Great memories!

  • TC was amazing back when Priddle was around, then they abandoned their unique sound to adopt a radio friendly fluff sound, like a poor man's Blink 182.

Man, NC17 was a great album, and its sad most people only know the latter stuff from TC that wasn't nearly as good.

  • I remember spending a disgusting amount of money on this album, it was hard to come by back in the day. After Self=Title I just needed more TC. The mid 90's had so much great music come out of Canada... now we just have Nickelback and Justin Bieber.

  • @chrisamacpherson

C'mon, Nickleback isn't THAT bad. At least you know what you get with Nickleback...honest Rock n' Roll. Justin Beiber on the other hand..........no so much!

  • Solo reminds me of Dinosaur Jr.

  • @gibsonrd1 hey hey you're totally right! yeah I was gonna say they have weakerthans vibes, and Dinosaur Jr. is a good description to for the solo.. damn, Ive always known this song, I just never thought about it, kinda wrote TC off as a shitty pop punk knock off band from Xfm alongside sum 41 and simple plan, etc, but this nineties stuff is actually amazing

  • sounds like james taylor

  • I want this TC to bring out a new album. Awesome sound, then they went down the stinker...boo-urns

  • Man I was a kid watching this vid on MuchMusic. I loved it so much. Still do.

  • I haven't heard treble charger since 2002, I only had the "hundred million" videoclip, so I may not be an expert, but I enjoyed those moments.

  • I used to listen to this song on repeat for hours

  • This is the best Canadian band ever.

  • man this tastes like good times... 90s comeback

  • this isnt treble charger os it?

  • @logansibley22 Yup it is.

  • This song style reminds me of neil Young.

    Awesome tune!

  • yeh man,me too,i cant put my finger on it but his out of tune vocal just fits..like neil ;)

  • you're right. i thought of this song while listening to neil on here

  • Bingo, thats what I've always thought!

  • I totally remember when this song & its video came out on Much Music around the mid-90s, along with all the other awesome Canadian bands coming out on the scene back then like OLP, Sloan, etc. This song along with OLP's Naveed & Starseed really got me into alternative rock back then growing up in my teens. Totally brings back the memories!

  • please come back treble charger, today's music sucks

  • I loved/ love this song Miss Treble Charger xD

  • Cool to read a lot of the comments. Glad to see there is still lots of support for the early treble charger music (that I played drums on!). Happy New Year everyone.

  • Wait, what? you were the drummer for the early treble charger?

  • Hello,

Yes, I was. I'm Morris Palter. I started the band with Greig and Bill, about 1.5 years before Rosie joined. WAY back when we started we were called Warehouse then became NC 17, then became treble charger. I played on the albums NC 17 (Red and 10th Grade Love, our 1st two vids), Self = Title (Even Grable and Morale our next two vids), then most of "Maybe It's Me." I played on "Ever She Flows" and a few others. After tc, I did my masters and doctorate and now am a University Prof.

    Morris

  • That's so cool!, Treble Charger really got me into music, and for a looong time i was absolutely obsessed with Treble Charger. I have every album and love each one. Pleasure talking to you might I add.

  • Hey Morris,

TC was my favorite band for so long, I bought the first LP on tape and wore it out. I was then forced to buy my first CD player because of Self=Title. I remember seeing you, and the other guys on Muchmusic in New York at Room with a View recording studios, being visited by a VJ and you showing them the Masters??? of Radiohead's Fake Plastic Trees and Street Spirit. Too bad you were canned before the release, but it seems it was really a blessing in disguise. See next message.

  • How can you not know this? Shame on you!!

Anyway thanks Morris for your comments. =]

  • Well i watched some of his videos and he looks just like the drummer. So i just kinda assumed he was telling the truth :P.

  • @Detoxicated I was probably one of the first guys to buy your Detox album when it came out, I was only 9 years old and I still listen to your music. I was a bit disappointed about the marketing statistic, because you guys made good punk-rock-alternative music. Wish you good luck.

  • Loved this when it came out...Canada had an amazing music scene at that time.

  • It still does, just no one is listening... There's Caribou, The Inhabitant, Ohbijou, Karwa, Andre, Malajoube, Tagaq, Pilate, Mobile, Stars, Metric...

  • who? lol

  • @davisman93 LOL, that same thing has been said about Treble Charger outside it's Canadian fanbase... lol

  • @Qrstnce bud im canadian and ive heard of like 2 of those bands

  • Actually, Pilate is known as Pilot Speed now. And of course there's also In-Flight Safety, The Stills, Tegan and Sara, Crash Karma, etc.

  • fuck the Edge for killing Martin Streek

  • doesnt even look like greig nori

  • Ok uhhh...I've noticed most TC vids hav gone outta synch with sound and visual. Also, they're uploaded by Detoxicated.

    Why is this???

  • its from the early 90s its old

  • yeh dude ! CFNY played real album rock in those days, almost underground, and t.c. was in there, good memories! thx:)

  • Ahhhh good memories - CFNY 1992

  • Yea, back when music was actually good.

  • @jtorin76 102.1 FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • when was that?

  • This song means something special to me as it reminds me of when my son was living with me, all the times I use to blast him and his friends asking them to turn down that head banging music when I reality I liked some of it but this song in particular has special meaning to me..

  • (sigh) I miss the 90's. Not the atrocious hair or clothes or anything, but the music! And the TV was very good then too. Heck, even romantic comedies were somewhat bearable in the 90s.

  • the exactly how i feel

  • Beautiful song. What is it about?

  • And I say every single band you named sucks.

  • This music comparing shit is so stupid lol, music is universally good how about that?

  • No, there's some non-sense out there that a lot of people call "music".

  • This shit's so stupid lol, music is universally good how about that

  • I like the origanal better,

  • This is the original.

  • luv @ 1st ear..thx

  • his voice sounds a bit like Brian Molko here

  • I taped this music video onto a VHS cassette and used to come home from school and watch it everyday for a long time. I loved it and still do. The newer version is good and more powerful but I still prefer this one.

  • I haven't heard this song since college. love the song, can't find it in stores, online, or on itunes. any suggestions?

  • Sonic Unyon website should still sell clean copies of nc17. The "Maybe It's Me" album is in some stores here in Canda, but should still be online and digital. The TC website has some links to buy them.

  • thanks bro. I'm not sure that they ever really made it big in the states. thats probably why i can't find it. but they were far more popular than any radio station or chart ever really indicated.

    thanks

  • TC had bad marketing, even in Canada.

  • found it on ebay.

  • @Detoxicated

I don't know of many Canadian bands that had good marketing, period.

    Philosopher Kings.

    Art Bergman and Poisoned.

    Spirit of the West.

Just a few that come to mind. I won't bother mentioning truly fantastic musicians like Danny Michel and Jim Chevalier who never even got a fair shot.

Even The Hip kinda got screwed in that department, it was really the university crowd that kept them active the first decade.

  • @thegirl44 how do you know Jim Chevalier? are you from Sarnia?

  • @adamcoe

Jim is my brother-in-law. I'm Jerry's wife. Nice to meet you.

  • limewire

  • have u tried soul seek? or torrents?

  • two years later... Torrentz.com Search for "treble charger 3 albums" and just download... It seeds well so you'll have no prob.

  • @angryhart I know this note is ages old, but all of Treble Charger's albums are on iTunes now.

  • @angryhart you tube converter (google)

  • @angryhart I realize that my comments 2 years late but if you're still interested search "youtube to mp3 converter" on google and any of the results that come up should do the trick.

  • so 90s so great!!!!!!!!!

  • im from port colborne i remember seeing hayden and mystery machine at somewhere in st kits for like 8 bucks :) i was such a nerd back then i rebought haydens first album and i found an indie version cuase the rerelease he omitted a few songs for some rason.

  • best treble charger song ever!!!!!!!!!!

  • God i love this band

  • i cant watch this video

    i liked this video :) 4P

  • better version imho

  • NM it was called: The Hideaway.

And those were the fucking days.

  • They were soo good when they were just a local band playin around my area.. What was the name of that bar/club back in the day?? anyone from the St.Catharines Ontario area???

  • Best Treble Charger song for sure, lots of emotion, depth, sounds great....seems like more and more people are tuning into music from the early/mid 90's, was an amazing time for music, and art in general......the memories for sure!!!!

  • cant say i like the vid to much!

  • Wow, the memories that song brings back.

  • wow they sure changed alot from this

  • this version is way better than the remake

  • Love this song (this version).

  • god, i miss the 90's

  • I hate pop punk and all those bands but I was surprised that Treble Charger used to write shoegaze style music.

Anyways I caught this video on MuchMoreRetro (love the 90's videos they play) I don't know what the rest of the nc-17 album sounds like is it worth a listen?

  • Yea a lot of people think TC as "American Psycho" or "Hundred Million", but they dont know that TC has made a variety of rock music which is why they are so underrated. The rest of "nc-17" and "Maybe It's Me" albums (both have "Red") are definitely worth listening. Their music is consistent and barely filler so there are other tracks that you'd like.

  • ahaha treble charger's original songs were the best maybe its me and before.

  • Did you motice as soon as they got rid of Morris Palter (drummer) they changed. They wanted to change thier sound before he was gone, cause my band from Peterborough ontario opened for them and they were discussing it then in 1993/1994

  • ya great band b4 they sold out saw them live many times then American Psycho lost all intrest

  • I still have my original copy of nc17 from when it first, first came out. Although I have seen them more then a few times I remember them and Rusty playing a show together in a small club in Central Ontario in 1994 that was just awesome. So raw. Like watching two garage bands. Indy music in the 90's seemed so much better then today. Music today, even indy, seems like it is so packaged.

  • this song reminds me of when I saw them at the Concert Hall and my first GF. Awesome song.

  • NC-17 was their original band name, they had to change it. They became Treble Charger.

  • i love this song, i could see dallas green doing a cover of this, to sumguyzercomin its NC-17 because it was the name of there first cd were this is from but they called themselves nc-17 untill they were sued cuz another band had it so they became treble charger

  • Dallas Green has his head up his ass.

  • Why is this NC-17?

  • Its not rated NC-17, thats the video for the original song in their nc17 album. There is the Red [Maybe It's Me] remake version on YouTube you can watch.

  • BTW- This was what Red sounded like until they signed with RCA and re-recorded it. In Canada, this is STILL the best version of this song. Anyone who says this is a rip off needs to do some homework...this is why i hate the internet

  • but if not for the internet noone would know your disdain for it

  • This is so Nc-17 who became Treble Charger. I was actually one of the first people who saw this video..."too much chick, not enough band". This is when Treble Charger was good..with Morris on drums...bad move dumping him

  • this is not NC17. i went to high school with those guys. tatal rip off!

  • What a nice song :D

  • this version is so much better...

  • the guitaring in this song is so beautiful

  • I don't hear a difference in the versions

  • the other audio version doesn't have as long an intro

  • They are completely different takes, the guitar is in a different voicing.

  • Hmm. that was supposed to be a reply to Yikith...

    My bad.

  • RED

  • i know right....red...RED!...it's a great song though right :)

  • RED

  • RED

  • so nineties!

i wish they hadn't gone all shitty after self=title.

  • I prefer the second version to this song off of maybe it's me, that's prob my fav album of theirs

  • Can someone please upload the other version too? it would be cool to have both to refer to

  • yeah and the other recording was way better. i dont remember what the other video was like.

  • I uploaded the other version plus Morale from 1995.

  • anyone have the other version?

  • classic love this song.....CAN U DIG IT

  • This band really didn't interest me after their second album, but I liked the first two - most especially this one.

I went with a buddy to see them do a gig in Grand Bend (maybe it was 2001?), and they did this number as the very last song. I didn't like very much else, but stuck around to see if they played it.

  • I completely agree that all the albums after the second one werent very good and I find it sort of coincidental that their first drummer, Palter left right after the second album and cant help but think that thats the reason it declined.

Any clue on where to download the first two albums? Having trouble finding a place that sells them as albums, yahoo sells them as individuals

  • You can order a mint copy of nc17 album from Sonic Unyon's website. self=title however, you'd have to buy from a site such as ebay.

I dont think Palter leaving really affected the band's music since it was mainly Nori and Priddle who wrote. Palter did drum for some tracks on Maybe It's Me, which I believe is their strongest album.

  • Probably the best under-rated Canadian rock song of the last 25 years.

The video footage though reminds me something that people watched on 'The Ring' before getting a phone call.

  • I prefer this to the newer stuff. Maybe cause it screams 90s, but cause its real and not faux punk

  • is this the same guy that sang "brand new low" and "don't believe it all"? They don't look anything alike!

  • No it's not the same guy. He mostly just plays guitar, but gets to sing a few like this one.

  • PERFECT

  • I'm gonna play this song at my wedding... it's sad, but pretty - like D minor.

  • Great song.

Treble Charger still the best pop-punk band ever.

It's so sad that they split up...

  • are u sure they split up?

  • Yes, they split up.

  • Yeah they did.

    Got the article on it.

The same article is on their myspace site as well...

  • bill priddle can still write songs like this, better ones even. check out his new band Don Vail and watch for his solo tour coming soon

  • His solo album is disappointing to some fans since theyre not at the caliber of his songs with TC. Even he says they're "piss-poor" in the description that is all over his sites. I dont think he wrote Don Vail songs.

  • it cool

  • i like the version on the nc17 demo tape better - it's faster and more groovy.

i could never decide between the nc17 and the mim versions. it's just too hard

  • yeah same here. Da MIM version is good, but so is this. Although they're both different, u cant relli make ur mind up coz dey're both soo damn good.

Such a pity Bill Priddle left and TC disbanded. Ppl dont write songs as good as this anymor :'(. I wish TC came bak and I wish dat Bill cud write songs lyk dese. Dis song (both versions) just melts ur heart doesnt it?

  • what...the...fuck... this is a music video... go and talk to all the little prono/nudity addicts to tell them good nudity sites. we actually really DONT CARE... ive seen that message posted on too many videos

  • is this not one of the most amazing songs ever!!! I listen to it countless times a day. I love the NC-17 version, but the Maybe It's Me version is my all time favourite.

  • ugh indie rock :/

  • iunno... the other version was pretty good too but yea this one is better. more indie.
