  • Or how about just do what every single pro on tour does and swing every club the same. Its the length of the shaft which determines the angle of attack so a longer will naturally sweep the ball whereas a shorter club will hit more down on it. A pros swing never changes no matter what club they have in their hands

  • You hit it like an iron

  • Nope

  • Forget these idiot pros... Jack Nicklaus always said, keep the swing the same for all clubs, just change the ball position and stance. Dont confuse yourself with all this crap. Try and get ONE swing that works. Most hackers listen to this kind of crap as gospel, only to confuse themselves. You can learn to shape shots later, just find a swing u can "repeat", that works for you.

  • I would say hit it how you hit it best...my dad was trying to hit his hybrid 3 like a fairway wood and couldn't....i suggested to try hitting like he used to hit his 3 and in a month he knocked off 20 strokes...brought him down from the 110+ range to double digits.

  • I don't care what anyone says these clubs are replacements for long lrons so swing it like an Iron !

  • make your mind up you pro experts one says sweep it like a fairway wood and others say hit down like an iron -no wonder us weekend hackers get confused-!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • mrbritvic, the club's a hybrid. You can hit it as a iron and take a small divot if you want a lower penetrating trajectory or you can sweep it like a wood for a higher trajectory. If you are better at hitting irons then woods then just hit it as you would use an iron and vice versa, but you can use these clubs as both and iron and a wood, that's why it's called a hybrid.

  • That's a pretty helpful tip and makes a lot of sense. I have the progressive hybrid irons and both techniques work.

  • @mrbritvic however you hit it best is really how you should be doing it. Some people try to get the perfect swing but it doesn't match up because they aren't pros. On a hybrid, out of a fairway, you should be aiming to just brush the grass. In the rough, you should give a SLIGHTLY descending blow so you can get through the ruff. If a hybrid doesn't work for you, a 4 iron or 3 iron may do the job.

  • @mrbritvic I think for, like, a 3-hybrid, you want more of a sweep... If you try and hit it like an iron you lose so much distance... I don't hit like a 4 or 5 hybrid, but I think for the shorter ones, it probably is more of an iron hit.....

  • @mrbritvic I agree totally, no wonder there is so much confusion when it comes to "golf pros". I just watched two videos, one said hit down, take a divot, the next one said sweep it don't dig . Yada yada yada.

  • thanks
