I watched the movie about month ago and I must say it looks amazing!
I didn't read the novel so at the first I was like WTF just happened... I needed to watch it twice to understand it.. The movie is awesome I give it 10/10!
I can't believe so many people liked this horrbl movie. I love movies and I can watch almost anything but this shit was just fuckin torture. what pissed me off the most was that only two guys had any powers and they just let the world get blown up. wat kinda superheroes let innocent people die. i know they had there whatever excuse to blow everything up but seriously why can't the blue guy with god like powers just save everyone. the only one that was remotely interesting was rorshack nd he died
@Nixom1334 I know this is a comment from 9 months ago but I just want to point out that they are NOT superheros; they are vigilantes. Also "the blue guy" had his own personal issues to deal with and that the government were using him as a wepon.
@Nixom1334 I don't usually attack people I disagree with but that's one of the most idiotic comments I've ever read and I know this phrase is overused but you're the definition of a person who didn't get it.
@Ihavealife100 oh I got it, but getting it didn't make the movie any better. it has the undertone of sometimes you gotta let a city get blown up to save the world. I know the comic came out when nuclear warfare scare was a big deal, I know it was going for dark and gritty, but it's so fucking pointless. the owl guy and the girl care about nothing but fucking, the blue guy is just there to have his ding out, Rorschach actually did something he was good, and the other guy was the villain.
@Nixom1334 Admittedly Ozymadias in the movie sucked but that was because the actor sucked. Just because two people fuck doesn't mean that's all they do/care about that's like saying you just care about going on the internet and the reason why he had his dong out was because he's not like other humans and he doesn't see the need to have clothes and nobody complained when Silk Spectre II showed he tits so get over it and stop acting like a 10 year old. There wasn't even a close up for Christs sake
@Ihavealife100 I'm not complaining that his ding was out but I mean honestly what did he do. the omniscient bastard got the wool pulled over his eyes either way, and yeah I know why and I know he had his own drama life going on but it did nothing. the owl and the girl. no, they just fucked and busted the only worth while character out of prison, which is good but anyone could have done that. again Rorschach was the only one adding to the story without him there would be no movie.

1. He doesn't care
2. Even if he did it's said he probably couldn't stop all the nukes.
@Ihavealife100 Wow, good point. who else could've said fuck it I'm not going to do anything it's pointless. and yeah the villain works only as a basic villain a penguin could've done the same crap it wouldn't have made the movie any different. like I said the movie revolves around shit happening Rorschach actually investigating and figuring stuff out and everyone else fighting over who gets to fuck the chick, which seems to be her only purpose in the movie
@Nixom1334 Despite the actor sucking, Ozymandias isn't your average villain and saying so means you didn't get the point of anything he said or did. He destroyed New York to save the world and IT WORKED. The movie revolved around characters and what being a superhero would do to you and that's why it's original and intelligent. I'd rather watch something about characters than pointless action. It's better than other shitty blockbusters that year like Wolverine, Transformers 2 and G.I Joe.
@Ihavealife100 not average but i mean it could've been anybody else and it wouldn't have changed anything. I get it's original because he's a good guy acting like a bad guy, to be a good guy, I get that but there are probably an infinite amount of ways to do that that are way better then blowing up a city, especially when you're friends with an Omnipotent being.
as for the character development I guess the entire movie was that but it wasn't even that interesting.
@Nixom1334 So what you're saying is that if someone else did the exact same actions it would have been the same. You do realise you could do that with EVERY movie. Ozymandias saw that it was inevitable for humanity to try and wipe itself out because that has happen several times. You seem to forget the fact that THEY EXPLAIN why nuclear war is inevitable since it's likely Manhattan probably couldn't stop them all and he was distancing himself from humanity thus not caring which is interesting.
@Ihavealife100 I mean there was no purpose for him to be a watchmen or to be one of the two with actual powers. as for the blue guy, again any random douche-bag can say I don't care. the only two can actually do anything about it either don't give a fuck or actually planned it.
@Nixom1334 1. Who was the other guy with powers HE WAS THE ONLY ONE Ozymandias was just extremely strong. Manhattan wasn't any "random douchbag" he just became so godlike he didn't see the point of life. That would probably happen to someone if you had those powers.
@Ihavealife100 super strength and super speed are powers.
and yeah I know but what then is his role in the story, to not care? he has no point in the movie, his absence would not have hindered the final outcome since he didn't do anything
@Nixom1334 He didn't have super speed or super strength, he was just better than most humans by training not experiments. His role in the story was to alter reality thus making Ozymandias' plan inevitable and to kill Rorschach keeping Ozymandias' utopia in tact. Remember when I told you this earlier.
@Ihavealife100 it never says that in the movie, I'm sure it does in the comics, but when he can dodge bullets that seems pretty super to me. and the blue guy could not have done that without blowing up a place? I mean if nuclear war was inevitable why would starting nuclear war end it? it makes no sense, the only way that would work would be if the first bomb scared the rest of the world like it did in WWII but that would have happened regardless.
@Nixom1334 It never say that he can do that in the movie . He's just an Olympic standard man. I'm pretty sure they'd make a big deal out it like they did with Manhattan. @Nixom1334 Yes because middle aged businessmen are so responsive and so quick! He made sure that they would recognise the the signal so there would be no confusion. The government would know what Manhattan's signal was like after him working for them for 20 years.
the only people who didn't like this movie or thought it wasn't so great are "simple minded people". If you're not into comics or something you're not smart enough to understand...then you do not have a voice to speak about it. You will have no credibility what so ever.
I thoroughly enjoyed the film in theaters and I still do. Some of the changes were nifty, the casting was near perfect, and there was a lot of devotion involved. However, sometimes it seemed like the movie was just reading aloud from the book instead of being its own product and there was a good deal of substance missing from the book.
And by the way, Zack Snyder needs to be told that pressing the slo mo button every other thing doesn't make an action scene better.
I loved this movie. The comic enhances the enjoyability of the movie by a bit, but alot of people were expecting the movie to be like Spiderman or Hulk. It was smart and deep... and the film was beautiful. One of my fave hero movies ever!
worst comic book movie i have ever seen boring the trailer makes it look good but when u watch it u are bored shitless the dark knight still the best comic book movie ever
the music was probably one of the best parts of this whoever said it was aqward well it was in the sex scene but other than that i loved the music AND THE MOVIE!
the sountrack was weird. the songs themself are good, but it didn't exactly fix with what was happening in the movie. The intro of this movie was like epic awesome!
Dude if that other guy did watchmen I would have been so upset! he would not do a better job then zack snyder cause zack knows how to stay true to its source material. We would have had a bad watchmen movie version with no symbolism and awesome action.
The film is probably the best adaptation fans of the graphic novel, like myself, could have ever hoped for.
Obviously, the graphic novel was far far better, but the movie was still incredible to watch. Beautiful imagery along with mostly good acting. Doesn't have the same twisted humour the novel had, but it was still enjoyable to watch.
slow motion dude had to make the movie longer with slow motion in nearly every scene and the fact and alan moore didnt want thsi to become a movie yet they did it any way pisses me off and allan moore got screwed over -1010100101/000000000000.(thats not impossible what i just rated it)
basically the film had too much backstory for a general audience but if you can pay attention to what's going on it shouldn't matter. unfair that the film isn't doing so well but of course one must include the fact that this film is R18--but if i had to sum it up in one word...wow.
i love this movie--seen it twice and want to see it again.
lol my friends think that this sounds weird but that film was so clear and rich in colour...is was delicious
how do you go from a lie of alien invasion to a lie about the blue guy? not a faithful adaptation. i only saw some parts of the comic from the motion comic version it was way better and more interesting then the movie, better story telling in the comics.
I hate people who critizise the movie and they are like owe it was based on a comic book, you have had thirty years to read it, get your shit together, I hate it when they change the plot, thank god they were faithful to the original comic book. theres a naked blue guy, that dumb bitch with the red hair needs to shut her mouth
I have a job dill weed I work for a comic book company so go suck cock and your own ego and you move out of your parents house well basement anyway, Im surprised your parents let you go on youtube. maybe its time you learn how to read, you know broaden your horizons, maybe then you will stop being such a douche bag phdecora. wtf does that even mean. you tweens and your emo names, so dumb.
in my opinon the greatest comic book film adaptation ever It was so damn good I loved it And I have read the comic book series like thirty times, I cant say enough good things about this movie. I give the film a 100 out of ten fuck batman he aint got shit on night owl or rorshach. ozymadais would own batman.
dont get me wrong i realy liked it but this was one i just believed they shouldv left alone and did you realy have to call me a retard that wasnt necesary
this movie was ok they had to put a lot of seriousness to back up for the shitty costumes, which was great. they should have put this level of life reality in xmen but no the fucking director had to just make the xmen costuems black, and then wtf?
i kinda did not like the raping, the milf at the ending who got raped is like, thanks god i got raped because i got a daughter.
A little bit to much with the sex scene parts and Gore but dame that was one hell of a good movie and I know now thats what made the comic what it is!!
If the movie hadn't closely followed the comic book you have hated, and now you get an extremely faithful adapatation of it and you still hate it. Jesus.....make up your mind. I think that the only people that will enjoys this are the casual fans, which know about the novel, maybe read it and have an idea of whats going but are still open to changes on it and look at is a movie as it self.
after watching the movie, i went reading the novel, the book did leave some little gaps for me, but it didnt really cover major gaps, im half way into the book, hopefully the book is gonna make me say "oh ya so thats why ozymandias blah blah blah"
The characters weren't as developed as they were in the graphic novel, and at times things felt a little forced and rushed. The characters weren't deep enough in the film and just needed more time to develop. I didn't like the over-the-top Kung Fu, I felt it was a little needed. I absolutely loved the music though.
Watchmen was a good movie, but it doesn't compare to the graphic novel. It isn't presented as well in film. I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10
YOU KNOW WHAT I SAW IT AGAINLAST NITE AND I HAVE TO SAY YES I LIKE IT! IT IS GOOD.
I THINK I DIDNT LIKE IT THE FIRST TIME BECAUSE I WENT TO THE MIDNIGHT SHOWING AND THE CROWD WAS BEING LOAD AND NEGATIVE. SO YEAH NO MORE MIDNIGHT SHOWINGS FOR ME.
SO YEAH I take back my 6.0 and GIVE IT A 8.5
Its not perfect but as a movie it does stand alone.
I am going to see this movie in a couple of hours. I don't know anything about the watchmen. Do I need to have prior knowledge of the story in order to enjoy the movie? I had a choice between the street fighter movie and this, I chose watchmen after watching the trailers.
The blonde lady who is conducting this review... boy oh boy is she over-acting pathetically. I am interested in what people have to say about this movie but the reviewer herself is obnoxious on screen.
i think that this movie will mark the end for all movie comics adaptation to films; it will be the result to an explanation to terminate the productions based in action heroes films in years to come like the martial arts movies; gun totting action movies; noir movies; cowboy movies, etc; The result will be the same... its like a prediction come true!!!
Why is that?? I think this will begin a whole new wave of graphic novel adaptations. And because of it turning out to be a damn good achievement, I think it will influence many more comic-book adaptations. Sure, it's flawed, but it is extremely good, and a wonderful work of art. I do feel that the extended cuts might make the film even better, but it's still a whale of a film. :)
it was very deep, thought provoking, the action was amazing and horrifying, and the special effects were amazing, and it had a great soundtrack, and boobies
i really liked it. i think the soundtrack was perfect because it fits the time era. the violence was a little excessive but it was not a blood bath. i would say a 9.5/10
10/10 in my honest opinion. Manages to grasp the full scope and depth of the comic, this movie may be too deep for the average movie goer resulting in very mixed reviews.
Funny how I didnt read the novel before watching the movie and I was able to fully grasp the characters and story without a problem. Either this movie isnt as tough to follow as people say or Im simply a genius.
Better than the novel in many ways, very graphic, lots of gore, language is mild throughout, actors were perfect in this film and compliment the novel to it's core, intense sex scene, sexual situations, and you get to see a guy get his arms sawed off in all its gritty gore in detail.
Very hard to stomach but in the end is a masterpiece in itself, very controversial.
My favorite movie of all time. Even better than the Dark Knight. The depth and scopes of the movie just amazed me. I never knew they could pack so much into a film. A work of art and intellegence.
Ok, I been reading comics/graphic novel for almost 20 years. I didnt HATE this movie but it just felt a little FLAT. Rorschach, was incredible!!! I'm here in New York, the theater was full. Most, everyone had this look on their faces like we just been robbed. My girlfriend Hated it. Overall, as a comic book fan I say support it. But it just didn't have that WOW factor. 2 1/2 stars out of 5
Hope this will be like v for vendetta and no fucking children super hero movie like spider gay or iron man, don't get me wrong,I liked most marvel movies but they are not big deal
dude, a little girl gets eaten by dogs, a kid gets slapped and called a slut, another kid gets his cheek ripped off. And thats just for kids. Adults get mutilated and killed in horrific ways here. This is a dark twisted movie. But at the same time it really makes you think. Its an amazing film.
So if it s violent like you say it looks like a good movie, like v for vendetta,I was afraid this will be loike spider gay or iron man,it may be a better movie than those, but I don't think it will be big deal either, watchmen looks overrated, but after all looks interesting....
Its not an action flick, its a drama. Its three hours long, but the characters are badasses. you should watch it at movie theater, but if you want to watch it for free just as a preview you actually you can watch the whole movie at
Watchmovie-links (dot) com look up watchmen and watch it.
its depressing actually, because its realistic. But its amazing. acting is not over the top but it is a little long. i made a mistake, its actually called watchmovies-links (dot) net where you can find it for free. If you like it, watch it in theaters for better quality, if not then you just wasted your time. overall i enjoyed the movie.

it wasn't able to go to the intellectual and psychological depths that the book went into, but other than that it was ok. Anyone who saw the movie absolutely must read the graphic novel.
Who wants to watch the watchmen? For all the people out there who enjoyed the comic book - otherwise you wouldn't know just what the hell was going on. 9/10.
I thought it was beautifully written, the cinematography was amazing as well as the visuals, but to me it was just to long and felt that a lot of the scenes really weren't necessary, over all the film was just OK for me, Alan Moore tends to rely to much on politics in his writings, it was the same with V for Vendetta. I give this a 5 out of 10 rating.
no i shouldnt. every comic book movie that has came out i likes most of them. i was really hype to see this but it didnt really do it for me. it was too long and i draged to much. my friend saw it and read the book. he liked a little but he understand completely where im comin from. so kick rocks!!
the movie wasnt bad but it wasnt great either. it was too long and to be honest i got bored through most of it i was about to walk out the theatre but then it picked up a little more. and no bulshit it was people literally falling asleep in the movie. so i give it 5/10
If you didnt read the comic book you will miss many things and dont understand some of the characters personalities, something that a movie with 2h and 30 minutes should have explained, but he worried to much to put everyfreaking frame of the comicbook on screen, lack of surprises indeed (only the end), when will the movie be better than the book ? still not the case.
i thought that the visualas and the graphic violence and the plot were all extraordinary....and they didnt put much effort to hide anyhting form us viewers...making us feel like we are there too.. it was a brilliant adaption of the novel and i hope that everyone will seee that soon
A very great movie that moved me, the best that Zach Synder can do, but its flaws really keep it from being a perfect movie, nevertheless, the dedication to the story really saves this movie, and make the flaws kinda minor.
I think that deep down I'd say 9.5 just because the graphic novel is so phenomenal. Alan Moore is right. I've always felt that this book utilizes 100% of the graphic novel medium to tell a story only fully capable of being told within that medium, but the movie was an amazing tribute and as close as you could get. So... 10/10.
This was the most loyal to source-material movie I've ever seen, and I felt it captured much of the feel of the graphic novel with it's beautifully rich visuals, moral questions, and multi-textured psychological profiles while adding it's own unique dose of "ultraviolence" and gratuitous sexuality; this movie stands on it's own as a monumental achievement.
These vids are great. I read the story a while ago and I hope that the film is just as good. Judging from what I've been hearing, it might not live up to the book. I hope it's good.
I'm a bit skeptical about seeing the film, onl reason being I don't want to watch a film if theres a possibility I will have no idea whats going on. From the trailer it seems like alot of stuff will happen, I just hope they explain it all well.
One of my relatives is in the cast, so I may just watch it for that.
By the way, Grace you are smoking hot in the interviews.
Though its soundtrack and some acting were sub-par, it was a visually spectacular movie that remained relatively faithful to the comic, but without the comic's subplots, which could make the movie confusing to a casual viewer.
the music(bob dylan) was incredible, the acing(roarshac) was amazing, the heros(roarshac and comedian) was amazing, the darkness(roarshac was amazing. nind=blown

One of the best superhero movies of all time. Dark Knight is the best of all super hero movies, but Watchmen is a close second.

@Ihavealife100 when he get's shot at by the "assassin" he's the only one not to get shot down.
Ozymandias made the first shot, he blew up a city. this could have had two results
1. what happened here, they see the power of it and decide never to use another one
2. sides blame each other but neither actually being responsible, they shoot each other and start a war.
if the first is true then they didn't need to do all that since it would happen anyways, like it did to us. and the 2nd solves notin

And by the way, Zack Snyder needs to be told that pressing the slo mo button every other thing doesn't make an action scene better.

Thankfully I got my money back after seeing this turd in theaters!

basically the film had too much backstory for a general audience but if you can pay attention to what's going on it shouldn't matter. unfair that the film isn't doing so well but of course one must include the fact that this film is R18--but if i had to sum it up in one word...wow.
i love this movie--seen it twice and want to see it again.
lol my friends think that this sounds weird but that film was so clear and rich in colour...is was delicious

I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10

i think that this movie will mark the end for all movie comics adaptation to films; it will be the result to an explanation to terminate the productions based in action heroes films in years to come like the martial arts movies; gun totting action movies; noir movies; cowboy movies, etc; The result will be the same... its like a prediction come true!!!
leontheprofesional 3 years ago
Why is that?? I think this will begin a whole new wave of graphic novel adaptations. And because of it turning out to be a damn good achievement, I think it will influence many more comic-book adaptations. Sure, it's flawed, but it is extremely good, and a wonderful work of art. I do feel that the extended cuts might make the film even better, but it's still a whale of a film. :)

AlfredoNader 3 years ago
Better than the novel in many ways, very graphic, lots of gore, language is mild throughout, actors were perfect in this film and compliment the novel to it's core, intense sex scene, sexual situations, and you get to see a guy get his arms sawed off in all its gritty gore in detail.
Very hard to stomach but in the end is a masterpiece in itself, very controversial.
10/10 from me as a compliment to the novel.

Green92Eyez 3 years ago
I thought it was beautifully written, the cinematography was amazing as well as the visuals, but to me it was just to long and felt that a lot of the scenes really weren't necessary, over all the film was just OK for me, Alan Moore tends to rely to much on politics in his writings, it was the same with V for Vendetta. I give this a 5 out of 10 rating.

A very great movie that moved me, the best that Zach Synder can do, but its flaws really keep it from being a perfect movie, nevertheless, the dedication to the story really saves this movie, and make the flaws kinda minor.
darkknight522 3 years ago
I think that deep down I'd say 9.5 just because the graphic novel is so phenomenal. Alan Moore is right. I've always felt that this book utilizes 100% of the graphic novel medium to tell a story only fully capable of being told within that medium, but the movie was an amazing tribute and as close as you could get. So... 10/10.
hulkcrawler 3 years ago
This was the most loyal to source-material movie I've ever seen, and I felt it captured much of the feel of the graphic novel with it's beautifully rich visuals, moral questions, and multi-textured psychological profiles while adding it's own unique dose of "ultraviolence" and gratuitous sexuality; this movie stands on it's own as a monumental achievement.
Overall - 10/10.
