The Big Bang only explains the creation of OUR universe, not the universes before ours. When you go up the chain of "And what before that one?" for a while, it'll come down to a blank space... no possible explanation. Either energy is eternal(being that energy could have created the first ever universe with the first "big bang", or there's an eternal being which created it.

@OriginalScuffler Energy wouldn't have gone on infinitely and then after an infinite amount of time created one universe that is more or less 14 gy old. Universes would go infinitely back because of energy being eternal. I did not say there was a blank space as that would imply energy started off somewhere, but it didn't. By saying energy/beings were eternal I was giving a solution to the "blank space" shit some people come up with.

Though there are obviously other ones that are possible and probably more likely, these two are what atheism and theism tend to boil down to as their followers beliefs.
