I am trying to find out HOW EXACTLY Tommy died. Wikipedia says it was overdose, but other sources suggest rather an off vein injection. I need to know for an article I'm working on. If anyone knows pls help me.
Tommy wrote a similar piece for the James Gang which is one of my all time favorites. When I interviewed him I suggest he write a song like it and he promised me that he would and put it on his next album, which he did. Sadly, it was his last.
Ahhhh Tommy.....how i miss you and your music. Gets to the point where i cant listen to your music at times....tears fall and I never even met you. Your music was such a force throughout my life and still is....wish i could have met you or even seen you live. Maybe someday we will meet...??? Maybe....God willing. rip my hero.
thanks... he was like my father.. since my own died when i was only 19 yrs old... when we got divorced, was only 25, he said, "you'll always be my daughter..." love him!!! had a blot clot in his brain, he didn't know.. and when he went diving it burst... I'm devastated... this song is so beautiful.., and I know he lives on, as does Tommy
One of my all time favorite ballads from the man. Reason I did a tribute version of this classic song years ago! Beautiful video!
OH...to marilynk1122: My heart and sincere condolences goes out to you in regards to loosing your father. Know what you're going through...unexpectedly lost my dad back in '97.
damn, my ex father in law, good friend, just died in a scuba diving accident/complications... my heart is breaking.... but i have to believe he's on the other side, saying, "and by the way Hello again".... tears... RIP GENE :*(
I went to Tommy Bolin's grave six months ago. He is laid to rest next to his mother then his father and his brother Rick on the other side. It was so sad. I wanted to take a momento home for the occasion and saw guitar picks down the vaseholder of his headstone. Those were sacred and couldn't be touched. Out of the blue I saw a thin cigar to the right of his headstone like the ones he used to smoke and took that home as my momento.
@twiggygil I understand... been to his grave... born and raised in Sioux City IA like Tommy... my high school memories are all about Tommy...graduated in '80, so he was older but knew his brother Johnny... his music lives on.. what a genius.
From an absolutely exquisite album start to finish, this song is so sweet and has always made me recall my beautiful '70's love. "I'm so pleased to have your company". Then, now, until the grave, I can never ever stop loving you. What could have been, should have been I always am your Number One Fan.
Tommy Bolin's LAST recordings are on the Coven album, Metal Goth Queen out of the Vault. there is a photo slide show video of the song with his amazing guitar work on this page, " Black Swan " is the song!
A great album. Thanks for posting this music and slideshow. I listen to it with some sadness as I think of what could have been.

Tommy still sounds great after all these years. Still wish I had the eight track recording we made of Tommy in "72" when he came home to pay a visit.

Private Eyes is one of the best albums ever recorded.Tommy's guitar and arrangements are superb! This is what a true Rockstar sounds like perfected!

Wow...that's so sad to hear what you just stated, to go through such an experience like that (double loss).
When my dad passed on, it was a deep awaking to never take anything for granted, everyday I live and grow to the higher circles.
Music is one of the keys of life to help heal the pains of life.
Best wishes to you always, marilynk1122.
