Some women could have been tricked, some men could have changed, and some people could have just been plain stupid. Stop coming up with hypothesis without gathering your facts. you say "she should have had birthcontrol" or "should have used a rubber". Well then I could say "the man shouldnt have been f-ing everything that moved &kept it in his pants". It takes two to make a child. Its not completely the womans or mans fault. Can someone explain to me why a woman would open her legs to a loser and have his baby? I think this is an awesome poem and an accurate picture of the internal struggle that single mothers go through. I don't believe the poetist was asking for any sympathy, just understanding of differences. I cannot believe the sheer hate that has been spewed from some of these folks. What an amazing poem!. I don't agree with all of it but love it anyway. I'm a single mum of 3 wonderful boys and felt that I had to comment after the negative comments left. Every mum has her own story- we didn't all choose to be single, we don't all survive on benefits but we are all trying to raise our children to be well balanced, responsible and happy adults. It would be nice to be recognised for what we are doing ON OUR OWN or left to get on in peace without all the negative stereotypes

Loved the poem. It is very encouraging. However, I think we let society attach a negative stigma to the term "baby mama. I do not take it as I negative term, I am my baby's mama. @Plokky1 and this is why the government needs to implement a licensing system for anyone who wants to have kids. From birth everyone is injected with a lifelong birth control. If someone wants to have a kid they must pass a government test. If they pass the test another injection will be given that "unlocks" their reproductive abilities. The test can be as basic as no drugs addicts, sex offenders, murders, child molesters, high school drop outs, rapist, violent offenders.

What an amazing poem!. I don't agree with all of it but love it anyway. I'm a single mum of 3 wonderful boys and felt that I had to comment after the negative comments left. Every mum has her own story- we didn't all choose to be single, we don't all survive on benefits but we are all trying to raise our children to be well balanced, responsible and happy adults. It would be nice to be recognised for what we are doing ON OUR OWN or left to get on in peace without all the negative stereotypes

@Plokky1 and this is why the government needs to implement a licensing system for anyone who wants to have kids. From birth everyone is injected with a lifelong birth control. If someone wants to have a kid they must pass a government test. If they pass the test another injection will be given that "unlocks" their reproductive abilities. The test can be as basic as no drugs addicts, sex offenders, murders, child molesters, high school drop outs, rapist, violent offenders.

Really and truly, it's single MOTHERS and not single parents that are the root of this. Aside from their relatively small numbers, single-father households don't have near the amount of dysfunctional children as do single mothers.
Single mothers, however, are a societal plague and it's up to everyone in the community to always remind them that they are at the bottom of the approval rating.

Yes Sir I think I can, and if I can't I am learning and open to correction but so far I live according to God's word which is helping me carry myslef accordingly. Again I am only 20 but all I can do is try and respect myself as a women and live up to what I know a women/ Or queen to be. Not one man or women is perfect But believe me I strive toward perfection. I value myself also... :-)

Single mothers weren't "forced" into anything unless it was rape. They have to take on extra burdens because they were too irresponsible and too triflin to practice safe sexual habits and make sure they were married before having children. It's no use in seeking a pity party because it's all the fault of the woman in all of this. If you want a man who will be a father, stop carelessly fuckin some bum who's just a boyfriend and make sure you get with a man who will be your husband.

No, he's beyond worse than that! If a woman has children but no partner, like it or not, she IS single! That means if that male refuses 2 step up 2 the plate and B a REAL DAD, he has N-O right 2 complain when she DOES find a partner who WILL bring up that baby 2 adulthood! As long as he's a worm, he'll never have ANY claim 2 those kids because he doesn't deserve their blessing! Not every single mother is single by choice--my mother was a single mother under those circumstances--not by choice.

I think that every persons story is different and knowone has the right to call anyone irresponsible.You hear single mother and automatically you think teenage with 7 baby daddys,well thats not so.When I say that I am a single mother of six kids people automatically assume that I have different baby daddys and wonder what I did to run them off. I was married from the age of 17 till last year my husband abused me for 10yrs so was the responsible thing to stay? Think before you speak!

If she has children but no partner, she IS still a single mother whether you like it or not! And 4 every 3 males who don't want 2 B faithful 2 a single mother, there are at least 4 who do. It's not the woman's fault, it's also the guy's fault. If the guy chooses not 2 put on a condom, he has N-O right 2 complain if the woman has an abortion, adopts out the baby, or chooses 2 raise that baby.
