I feel so lucky i got to see the original broadway cast perform this..and since this was the first broadway show i ever got to go to.. i'm so happy.. but i want to see them again!! idk if ill like to other cast :'(
@Chachabugergurl Saw it two weeks ago and loved it w/o having seen the orginal cast. Different doesn't mean bad, just different. I loved Mazzie's and Danieley;s interpretations of these songs, and can enjoy Ripley and Spencer here. Mainly because the songs and the ideas behind them are so connected.

I do know what you mean, it's almost like a remake of anything you love, but unlike a movie, theater is meant to be redone and reshaped with new interpretations. I'm tempted to see it again myself. Had great seats last time; 9th row, center aisle.

I was siitting in the Mezz but i felt that it was perfect there because we were equal with the second level but we could see everything on the first and third level.

i seriously don't understand why next to normal lost to billy elliot. don't get me wrong, billy elliot seems like a fun play to watch, but it's plot seems kinda cliche, while next to normal is very unique and original..well that's just my opinion..
you have to remember that Next to Normal won best score. which means the judges recognized the amazing songs and still chose billy elliot. which means there is something besides the score (probably the choreography) that put billy elliot ahead. thereby you can't acurately critisize the desicion unless you have SEEN both shows. I have not seen either, and I like this soundtrack better. I'm just telling you my theory of why Next To Normal lost.
@vickyc99 My mother is a big fan of Wicked and she thinks Avenue Q stole best musical from it. But I told her Wicked is just a show, it's fiction. As is Avenue Q, but AQ is far more connected to the world than Wicked and I think that's why it won. I think the same property is true for N2N and Billy Elliot, but this time I suppose something happened lol.
@vickyc99 I've seen Billy Elliot and I can say, N2N is more deserving of Best Musical. However, Billy Elliot has powerful storytelling and direction itself with the silent scenes and character relationships.
Norbert's amazing, I agree.... but J. Robert owns this song. He's an amazing actor. This and "I've Been" are HIS songs. Sorry, Norb. I'd still fly across the country to see you in CMIYC and I loved Wicked and TLFY.

This is beautiful. Im doing my yearly research into each musical nominated for tonys, and it should be between this and title of show (my life! lol) for best musical, not shrek and the one with constantine
Rock of Ages was actually a very good show, but I do think Next to Normal deserved Best Musical. It was the most beautiful out of all the nominees, and I wish it had won.

Next To Normal is so unique that many people don't know how to read it as a musical.
This song is PERFECT to show that the show is beautiful and sends powerful messages :)
