Okay. If you say so. At least give him two more years to see what he can do with his players and his quarterbacks. Last season most of the players on offense were Carrs prostyle players, and we had two immobile quarterbacks in Threet and Sheridan. This season, we have two dual threat QB's in Denard and Tate, and we have way more of richrods players, while many of Carrs prostyle players have jumped ship (Threet, Toney Clemons, Carson Butler, Zion Babb, Avery Horn, Dann O Neill, Kurt Wermers).

To top it all off, Shafer turned out to be the absolute worst defensive coordinator we ever had. As a result of all this, we went 3-9 in 2008. But make no mistake: the team had talent last season and has even more talent this season. The transition is over, we have a QB in Forcier who fits the system, and I think we will go 9-4 in 2009, just like the West Virginia Mountaineers did in season two under RichRod.

However, I disagree with your contention that Michigan hasn't had great athletes. I think the problem in 2008 wasn't that we didn't have good or great players, it was that we were BOUND to go through a transition. We were making a wholesale change from the prostyle to the spread option, and we had lost everybody on offense from the previous season.

Dan I agree we could do better than rich rod, but You and I know this year its a bowl game or he is on the next train out of town. I spoke with minor earlier today. I have to tell you he will be all BIG TEN! The line looks a lot better. The readshirts from last year will play. I dont think TATE odoms will be the focus of the offense.This offense wont be great,but it will score some points. The defense doesnt look to be good. win 6 games or goodbye rich!

You can see it coming together. They are still thinking a ton on offense about where they are supposed to be. We are going to be LETHAL soon and it's going to be WAY sooner than our rivals would like. Odoms = the next #1 at Michigan.

It's fine, most Michigan fans are understanding that it probably isn't coming together until 2010, but you can't deny that Odoms has been getting better every game. He's probably out this week, but went over 100 with our horrible QB play and over 200+ with return yardage.

That comment was before Ricardo Miller our of Florida committed so not sure he will be the #1, but Odoms will be top 5 in WR yardage and TD's before he graduates.

Czabehave: I think saying Odoms will be the next NO.1 is a stretch, but he's definitely a really good receiver. I think he's the next Steve Breaston, only I expect Odoms to score more receiving touchdowns during his career then Breaston did. Odoms has got good speed and superb quickness, which he showed on that tantalizing 50 yard bubble screen. Odoms now has a lock on the starting slot receiver job, and I expect him to take a big leap forward next season

What do you think about Greg Mathews? I believe he is the Big Ten's best. He should have the #1 Jersey this year. Those people on ESPN believe that Benn from Illinois is.

I think Mathews is a really good receiver. I think he is about as talented as Jason Avant. He's a possession receiver who lacks speed but who makes up for it with great hands, leaping ability, and smarts. I know his stats don't compare to Avant, but then again, how can you when you're on a team that went 3-9? I think if Mathews has like a 2nd team all big ten senior year, he'll be drafted.

But I don't think he's the Big tens BEST. Benn is is indeed the best cause he can run with the ball in addition to being an excellent pass-catcher. He was one of only two receivers in the Big Ten to crack the 1000 yard mark last season, and he did that on a 5-7 team. I'm going to have to agree with ESPN on this one.

Mathews did pretty good on a 3-9 team, but I get what your sayin'. If Ron English or sombedy else is coach and Mallett stays then I think Mathews is big time. Hopefully this year!

Well yeah. The entire team would have done pretty good (like 8-4 or 9-3) if we had stayed inhouse with a coach like English. But we would have also gone 8-4 or 9-3 in 2010, 2011, 2012, and beyond. We had to suffer that 3-9 season last year under RichRod that way we can go 11-1 or 12-0 in 2010, 2011, 2012, etc. We never would have returned to being a college football powerhouse under a Carr clone like we will under Richrod. You feel me on that?

i'm a little more patient...of course, that was all from last season, when we COULD pull out the close games, even with our hurt stars, because they were great players.
