his guitar work is amazing, derivative of flamenco/folk
when listening to this on the album i thought he used two guitars at 1:03, one keeping the pulsating rhythm and one playing the melodic hook. But he does it completely by himself....i need to teach myself how to aha

no, actualy its 1 guitar. Keepin bass line in rhytm is hard, but possible :)

I think the girl in the background is his girlfriend, not completely sure though.
