Fernando Redondo dominated that game, and he was rightly named player of the tournament. Elegant and Intelligent .. he was some player.

Makes today's defensive midfielders look very limited indeed. I remember just how difficult it was for Real to replace him with a single player...Makelele eventually did so admirably but was not in the same league as this lad.

How disgraceful it is that he was sold on so controversially after a legendary spell in Madrid.

@henkecelt It's not been so bad as you say 'cos Redondo is been injured most of the time that spent away from Madrid. I think that the true disgrace for Madrid is been sell Hierro and Morientes and push Del Bosque away in the same season. Anyway, Redondo great player for sure.
