You should also take a look at your memory, do the tests and see if it does not have any error, because even when it's a brand new machine, it can have some bugs... take a look also in your CPU... Intel made some bad Quad-Core processors, where the 4-th core has a problem in its built-in instructions, and may cause some blue screens...

What's wrong with Windows Vista? Sure it has bugs, but it was pretty much a really early version of Windows 7. Once you learn how to personalize it, it works fine. If your computer just meets the requirements to run it, it runs slow (which is mostly the case). If your system is well over the requirements, it works fine.

But still, you may not have learned to personalize it correctly to the point of it being fine, but I am one of those people that have. I didn't repair it, in fact, I haven't bought any extra software/devices for it except an Antivirus (But I use MSE now, as it is very effective).

It does have bugs, but it WAS a beta test. You should expect some. Without Windows Vista, Windows 7 would be as bad as Vista is now.

Thanks for doing society a favor and destroying the pure evil that is that box! I spent the last 3 hours installing SP1 on an under-spec machine that was sold to novices. It is extremely slow to even draw dialogue boxes, with its 512 megs of RAM!

you dont get it, the MArvell is not wireless it is a high end gigabit lan for which ASUS have provided me with a driver, I can even download the driver from Marvells site, the reason is that Windows enforce me to use their native driver and goes crazy if I atempt to remplace it for the working one. All of the software in my computer work 'out of the box' under Fedora and openSuse, it also kind of worked under XP, but vista does not.

One of my network cards, a Marvell 10/1000 doesnt work still now because Vista doesnt like the driver that comes with the Asus mb, one of my usb multiplier is not detected either even after the right driver is loaded and just act all weird about that one and they are all quite advanced hardware, my wlan car doesnt wor either, a dwl 122 which is old yes but work everywhere else but in Vista.

You can usually find the Marvell/Yukon driver for the wireless card. That actually might take some time to find it, but it will work. The USB multiplier probably surges the USB port...you also really can't use any external hdd's in a hub / multiplier. And the dwl122...good luck...that's like 5 years old???

Even more significant is that tons of additional software is only as far away as the "Add/Remove" menu item. Moreover, you know that everything listed there has been used/tested by others, and if it sucked badly, it wouldn't be listed. And no repetitive bloody wizards (InstallShield, etc)! :-D
