  • I bought today one for 850 euros.

  • Pause the video and push 4,5,6 after its loaded to see the difference. thanks...

  • Did you use Final Cut editing software for this video???

  • debating over whether to but sigma 30mm 1.4, or sigma 24mm 1.8...i feel like 30mm would be too much length for the 60d. For example, I picked up a nikon nikkor 50mm 1.4 ais for like $130, and i have to stand across the room to focus on a subject (realizing its more like 80mm).

So basically my question is, is the 30mm too much length for general use?

  • In this review you say you purchased the sigma 24mm f1.8 for around $200 but when I look on Ebay they go for more than double that. Where did you purchase your lens for such a good price?

  • canon 24mm or sigma 30mm?

  • Sigma Super Wide Angle 20mm f/1.8 EX Aspherical DG DF RF Autofocus Lens on the Canon 7D...I'm thinking about getting it:

Fast, Wide, and Prime. I'm betting that it is better than the Tokina and other Wide angle Lenses for Canon 7D. The Glass, from what I've read is very sharp.

Can somebody say something about it? Or is everyone hooked on the Tokina?

  • @ZeroSynth I have the sigma 20mm. It's good for video even wide open, but for photography mine is soft wide open and you'll have to stop down 2 stops to get what i call acceptable iq. I wanna get de canon 24 but have a hard time parting with this 20mm for the wider angle for video.

  • @webeskimo Which camera are you using for the Sigma?

  • @webeskimo You could get a Sigma10-20mm or a Tokina 11-16mm...assuming that you'll be shooting during the day...F 2.8 doesn't work for me when it comes to night photography.

  • but still, in the end u're using Canon 35mm f1.4 L USM in this video don't u?

  • what happen to you in 0:25 lol?

  • ok.. that was just too strange ...even for youtube.

  • There's not only softness, but the video shows a lower contrast overall on the sigma.

  • How bout integrating test shots with each individual lens instead of just telling us your opinion

  • the sigma looks like crap ? sry.

  • I started to worry about u in 0:25 !!!! lolll

what the heck happened to the man ??!! he was alright seconds ago

  • I too have the T2i and the Canon 50mm 1.8 (Mark 1 with the metal mount). I do quite a bit of concert photography, and want a wider field of view. I was wondering if the sigma 24 1.8 is sharp enough when it's wide open in low light conditions, as I am looking for high quality pix to sell to bands. The 50mm works, but I don't want to lose quality in my photos.

  • @drock5972 I would say the sigma 24 f1.8 is as sharp as the 50mm f1.8 wide open. It works great on my 7d, but sometimes it misses focus on my t2i. Not sure why, could be my camera or it could be the lens.

  • Canon 28mm F1.8 is addition small and light !

I'm going forward it because of that :D

  • Be more professional! These videos are annoying

  • I'll stick with the glorious colors, micro contrast, build quality, wide-open sharpness, and extra 2/3 f-stop of my 24 1.4L II, thanks.

  • I'll stick with the glorious colors, micro contrast, build quality, wide-open sharpness, and extra 2/3 f-stop of my 24 1.4L II, thanks.

  • Wow that 24mm costs more than some of my telephoto L lenses. I paid less for my 300 f4 lol

  • @hattrickster33 Uhh why should the telephoto cost more than the wide angle? It's still an L series lens you n00b

  • @IaminaSpaceship Your reading and comprehension skills need work, that's all I can say. I never said a telephoto SHOULD cost more than any other lens. In general, telephoto lenses ARE more expensive however. Just take a look at some of the 500 and 600 mm IS's from Canon. For this price I'd rather have one of them. You should think before you insult someone because you end up making yourself look like a troll if you don't.

  • @hattrickster33 You're right. I guess I should've just pointed out that the 24mm f/1.4 is a nicer lens than your 300 f/4, and that's why it costs more.

  • @IaminaSpaceship Try doing sports or wildlife photography with a 24mm lens. Good luck. Both my 300mm f/4 IS and f/2.8 IS are better for that application. I'm sure if I was planning on taking low light indoor shots or landscapes you'd be right about the 24mm being nicer though, but I don't. Just because equipment costs more it doesn't make it better.

  • @hattrickster33 That's true. I meant "nicer" as in generally more desirable. Hahah now you're just showing off that you have the f/2.8 too ...Love it. Well I think we should both stop showing this lame reviewer support by commenting on his video. You know he probably listens to ska.

  • @IaminaSpaceship Yea well maybe showing off a little:P

  • quick question: Do either of the F1.8 lenses make motornoise you can hear on your films?

  • @roflastc The Canon is USM so no you won't hear anything. I'm pretty sure the Sigma is pretty quiet as well but not as quiet as the Canon.

  • Whats a good not overly expensive wide angle lens for the canon 5d? I heard that some lens arent made for full frame cameras..

  • Thanks for the video. I went back and forth for comparison and it definitely helped in many good ways. Shorten your goofy messup fillin a bit and keepem coming. Thanks!

  • conon 28 or sigma 30? what u think its better for my 550d?

  • @blablamusic Sigma 30.

  • The 24L contrast floors the others.

Resolution wise 1080p don´t require super sharp glass but there are more perks with L glass then that.

  • Where did you get the sigma 24 1.8 for $200??????

  • @Richpence craigslist.

  • @onelonedork ha, lucky sod. Mine cost me 310 euros.

  • @Richpence I was thinking the something!

  • I have a canon t2i and a canon 50mm fixed 1.8 lens. What lens would you suggest I bought? Im really into macro shots, and very wide picture, mostly outdoors. I dont really zoom in during the video. Should I get something like a fixed wide lens like the canon 28mm 1.8 ? I may need to zoom in , but I really like macro shots and all :/

    I have about 500 dollars.

  • @ItanTyxaio If you want a wider prime lens and you want macro, then you might want to consider the Sigma 24mm f1.8 or sigma 28mm f1.8. Neither of these lenses will change the world but they should cover the range you're looking for.

  • @ItanTyxaio - 500dollars? get yourself a Panasonic lumix tz10 (not the latest tz20) you can do macro, wide and telephoto, all that with one single lens, and the picture quality is not all that bad either..

  • you dont need L glass for video

  • @sasktank Exactly. Although I will concede that my L glass gets used more, but i think thats because I feel like i should use it more since i paid more for it.

  • @onelonedork ------ i love my cheepo walkaround lens for easy days but my L's need to be used because they cost so much

  • @sasktank When i'm filming with 2 camera's many of those lower priced lenses end up on my t2i, and my 7d gets the L glass. Or if i'm photographing in a dangerous I use the lenses i can afford to brake. I'd rather lose a sigma 30mm f1.4 then a canon 35mm f1.4 any day.

  • Thanks for the info. As far as the freeze, it happens when the presenter or talent is moving.I may shoot while they're sitting and talking , then move forward or back..It makes no since to me.

  • @prophetivory you might be using a card thats to slow.

  • Thanks for the quick response. Two more questions , what is the max length of time to record vid with 7d?Also is there anything I can do to stop the kind of freeze or pause in my recordings? Thanks so much. Great video's by the way

  • @prophetivory about 12 to 15 min depending on the scene i'm shooting. Canon list the max time as 12 min. The freeze or pause can be caused by many things, send me a message with a little bit more info about whats going on when the problem happens and I might be able to give you a few things to check.

  • What lens do you think is THE best for 7d shooting video?

  • @prophetivory On the 7d the Lens I use the most is the canon 35mm f1.4 fallowed second by the 50mm f1.2, then the 16-35mm 2.8. But when I'm heading to a project to film, I always have a 85mm, 50mm, 35mm, 16-35mm, and 11-16mm with me. Those 5 lenses seem to cover almost everything on the 7d. If I need a second camera I use my Nikon glass on the t2i.

  • Where did you get your sigma one? i want one.

  • @derekagain craigslist.

  • I went over this a million times and chose the canon 28mm 1.8 because the sigma 24 and 28mm 1.8 overexpose way too much and have focus issues with different cameras. For the price the Sigma is an option but when i pay $350 for a lens I expect it to expose & focus correctly dammit! As for Canon, $500 is too fucking expensive for a 28mm 1.8 non L lens! $350 is good. but until Sigma can get their shit together the Canon offerings are the only real choices for 1.6x crop sensor Bodies.

  • @bronxboyXXX Calm down dude

  • @bronxboyXXX My Sigma works fine, I had to micro adjust for it just a little (which does take some time). I paid $200 for it, and for that price it preforms well. It does focus a little slower then the canon 28 1.8 but it's a macro lens(i haven't had any exposer problems). It is the loudest lens I own, but often I use it for product shots or video mode where that doesn't really matter. I don't normally have high expectations for lenses in the 200 to $300 range, its nice when they work well.

  • do you have information about Nikon nikkor 20mm 2.8? and sigma 20mm 1.8? . In this range is there a recommendation?

  • @virtualevans Sorry i don't own either of those lenses. The 20mm 1.8 is very similar to the 24mm f1.8 from what i understand. The sigma is a good value lens. I don't know anything about the nikon nikkor 20mm 2.8. I Like my primes to be F2 or lower.

  • do you have information about Nikon nikkor 20mm 2.8? and sigma 20mm 1.8? . In this range is there a recommendation?

  • you r too funny smh lol

  • I was looking for something wide angle for my 60d, using it for video, would the 24mm be something I can use? Or should I try something a little lower like a 20mm? You mentioned you picked the Sigma 24mm up for about $200, anywhere specific I should look? Thanks in advance!

  • @ShortHandFilms 24mm on your 60d wont be extremely wide. I got the sigma cheep because a guy couldn't pay his rent and needed money. Normally it runs around $350 to $400. If you want wide angle the tokina 11-16mm f2.8 or the 12-24 f4 are probably better choices, unless you want a macro.

  • @onelonedork I dont want a macro, just want something fast with a nice wide angle and I dont *need* any zoom, so a prime would work. What about something in the 18mm prime area? I wanted to keep it lightweight for use with my handheld steadicam style rig, but if the 11-16mm is my best bet, thats what I will go with.

  • @ShortHandFilms wide on a crop is really anything below 16mm (that can be debated). Primes that wide are generally more costly then the tokina 11-16, some are in the range of 800 to 1200.

  • @onelonedork No one, this is not the case, I can afford those amounts. that's why I'm sticking to the best possible 600-400 around lens.......

  • @onelonedork So you think is not worth it to buy 370 bucks the 20mm 2.8 nikkor? I'm crazy right now about this. I have this options : 20mm 2.8 nikkor, 24mm 2.0 nikkor, 35mm 1.4 nikkor (but I'm a little disappoint with examples you showed with 35mm) and finally 50mm 1.2 ....so I don't now what to choose between those??

  • @onelonedork I already have 50mm 1.8 nikkor (the top ten best, but I 'dont like the 5 miserable blades for bukeh night lights. The 28mm 2.8 nikkor and finally the 85mm 1.4 ais nikkor that is coming as we speak . And in my case, I shot video, but with big screen in mind (shortfilms) so this blurriness matters when you up scale the material. Better the sharp image better the results in film

  • @virtualevans Well if sharp is what your after, and your using a canon camera, then use what i normally use: canon 24mm 1.4, canon 35mm 1.4, 50mm 1.2, and 85mm 1.2. All of those lenses are as sharp as a tack, I recommend the nikon nikkor ais lenses for there value to price, but i can't say there sharper then the top of the line canon lenses.

  • @onelonedork you're not your.

  • @onelonedork By the way, the sigma is a crap stopping up from 3.2 to 1.8 , I bought it just 'cos the same thing about low light , but I never though it was so ugly, is like a scam from sigma guys, they have this niche market but at the expense of quality. maybe I have a bad copy, but so many people say the same thing about it. And if I have a bad copy how the lens comes perfect at 3.5?????

  • Hi i wanted to know whether to go for the sigma 28mm 1.8 or nikon 35 1.8 for my canon 60d for video use?

  • @akacuba1990 Well the sigma is a macro and has auto focus so thats handy. But the nikon has a smoother focus ring with more travel (although it turns backwards) if you plan to use a fallow focus. Depends on whats cheaper really and if price matters to you or not. If cost doesn't matter then the canon 35 f1.4 or canon 24 1.4 II are both great lenses.

  • How far are you sitting away from the camera when you were shooting with the Sigma 24mm?

I'm really considering this lens for my vlogs, etc. Thanks for this comparison. :D

  • @jepanic 3 feet away from the camera ruffly. I can almost touch the lens.

  • Comment removed

  • Nice.. thanks!

  • gd vdo btw.!

  • what if the lens fall down while the other guy giving it to you when filming..?

    WHAT THE FUCK.!!

    XD

  • @TheNiko004 No lenses were dropped in the making of this video.
