Please visit my channel for the unpopular truth about homosexuality.
A person does not need hatred or any kind of phobia in order to acknowledge important differences between heterosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption and homosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption. Even non-religious people know this.
Homosexual activists, with support from the media, have succeeded at framing themselves as noble victims; it's an effective way to push a social agenda.
Does anyone here know that the song he was trying to sing is by Tom Lehrer? I sure hope so. If Hitchen's was trying to pass it off as original, I am devastated and disgusted, as much as I enjoy what he has to say.
comparing this great Christian nation that celebrates freedom and allows anyone to say what they want with the tyranny, oppression, and misery from an ATHEIST country like N. Korea is absurd and completely misguided.
hitchens is only joking about Christmas time as being a time of total devotion to a supreme god where all people do is praise the supreme master. that is exactly what people do everyday in north korea. the founding fathers were secular about every aspect of the constitution, so when u deliberately use the word "christian," it shows me what ur true intention. don't put freedom and religion in the same sentence. with an all powerful leader/god freedom can't exist, just like in north korea.
Nobody in this country is sticking a gun to yours head and telling you to read the Bible and do what it says. Never happened in this country. That is, however, what goes on in N. Korea, and what went on in Stalin's atheist totalitarian gov. Still a poor joke and an absurd comparison.
but you don't believe in hell so no worries, not for now anyway. just a few short fleeting years in this life you'll find out. in the interim, there is nothing that can justify the comparison of being "forced" to listen to Christmas music and living in a place of misery, suffering, and oppression like N. Korea.
yes i agree with u...no one is forcing anyone to do anything...thats y its suppose to be funny...
but there is no fundamental difference between worshiping the leader of north korea and worshiping the abrahamic god....the concept is the same and that is what Hitchens is addressing..
From "abrahamic" origins came false ideas and religions like islam. They do use militaristic coercion. There are spiritual reasons for this that atheists scoff at. On the other hand, Christianity is exploding wildly in places like China, and even Iran, where the oppressive governments do hold guns to a person's head - for their faith. Still they choose anyway, despite imprisonment and death. Science cannot explain this. Religion is trying to reach out to God, Christianity is the opposite.
the keen eyes u look at islam is the same way i look at all religion; all nonsensical ideas about the nature of reality...the growth of a meme does not in anyway is a proof for its truth value...
@boledle ...the point that he is trying to make is if you don't read the bible and believe all its rubbish, you will be tortured forever when you die. praising jesus from dawn till dusk and being grateful and appreciative for being allowed to do so and being thankful for the mere fact that he has granted you your existence sounds a lot like north korea to me. i dont apologize for my existence, nor does anyone have a right to own me.
@Freethinker12341 All over utube, & elsewhere, are ranting atheists who've never experienced the joy & *freedom of Christ, telling others how horrible and miserable it is to be a Christian. Rather absurd, don't you think? I also find it interesting that you'd talk of 'tortured forever after you die.' I thought there was no afterlife in your worldview, after our few fleeting years on earth are over.
You're absolutely correct. No one owns you. You're free to choose. God is forcing nothing on you.
@boledle well first of all i was a Christian for 15 years of my life and i can tell you that when i finally realized that my beliefs were pretty much all irrational and become an atheist it gave me a tremendous sense of release and i thank a lot of people for helping me out of the cult of Christianity. and no it is not in my world view, i believe that in fact no god exists and no afterlife exists. im just saying the IDEA of it is wretched.
@boledle don't tell me that this supposed god is not forcing anything on me. in North Korea if you don't abide by the law you get punished, same with christianity, if you don't abide by its rules you get punished, so techincally i'm not entirely "free" according to the bible. but since i believe that no god is even there I AM free. and im waaayyy happier as an atheist than i was as a christian, most atheists are happier you'll find. we get angry sometimes because religion imposes on us
@Freethinker12341 There are consequences for sin & rebellion. this is the way of the things because something outside our little universe established laws & morality (yes, I've heard all of Hitchens' & other's explanation of morality). But, these mostly hate-filled monologs neither prove nor disprove a thing.
If you believe you're happier now then so be it. That gives you no right to attack my faith. You may attempt to prosthelytize me to atheism, but God has already proven Himself to me
@boledle no you can't equate sin with rebellion if you don't believe in the same god or if you don't believe in god at all, its subjective, your beliefs are JUST beliefs. and yes i agree that the universe as a whole requires an explanation but just because science can't answer a question or probably never will be able to doesn't mean that religion can, it means you should admit ignorance like i am doing, not make fantastic assertions....also morality is relative to what u were taught as a child
@boledle you have a billion dollar institution called the vatican proselytizing christian faith throughout the world, and here in youtube u are complaining about being proselytized by atheists? kinda funny actually. lately, ignorant religious people seem to be using religious words to describe atheists. suddenly, not believing in a religion makes u religious, complaining about proselytizing by religious institutions is proselytizing itself and writing a few bestsellers makes atheists radicals.
@sh00008 you're assuming i'm catholic. catholicism is just ancient roman paganism mixed with what they thought was the right religion. my relationship with God has nothing to do with any church, doctrine, or religion. I despise religion, especially those that use it for prophet, control or manipulation. it was religious people who killed Jesus. people consumed by hatred, like 9 / 10 of the atheists i run into. makes no difference if atheism is a 'religion' or not, but 'evangelicals' you are.
@boledle lmao. yes complaining about evangelicals makes me an evangelical. u are hilarious. u despise religion when it is used for profit. lol. every priest, rabbi, mullah is a con artist only because god doesn't exist. if u can prove god exists, only then we can say priest and rabbi's are genuine. so since u do consider urself part of a religious group, would u consider every other religion with their religious mullahs and rabbis are nothing but scam artists?
@sh00008 twice you've said I'm "complaining." I'm merely stating facts as I see them. You zealous, yes, evangelical atheists, just love posting these bashing, insulting videos. Your hatred of a God you've decided doesn't exist has put blinders on your eyes so that you only see it from one negative perspective. No big--it's not me you're rejecting. And are you really laughing when you say lmao? Most atheists don't laugh, they only sneer.
@sh00008 your question was do I consider 'every other religion' to be a scam of sorts. many are, sure. many others are used for political, power and control reasons. as I stated previously, I am not religious & agree that even the concept of man-made religion and doctrines is fundamentally flawed. But this has nothing to do with a completely misguiding comparison of say, American Christianity, to the brutal dictatorship or N. Korea. Nor does it have a thing do the argument of God's existence
@boledle It's not a misguiding comparison to say god is a dictator. If there is an all powerful god and she is the creator of the universe and its laws, then it is fair to say, everything that happens happens with her consent. There is no room for free-will with an all powerful god. Next time when you are in the bathroom, think about your free-will. What's the point of closing the bathroom door when god is watching? Can you really close the bathroom door on god? If god is all powerful, u can't!
@boledle Atleast in North Korea you can die and escape, in Christianity there is no escape when you die. when you die and go to heaven you get to praise the dear leader even more

Jack and the beanstalk is another good fairy tale you should read that one as well. It doesnt have talking snakes and donkeys and men living inside fish but its got a giant and a goose that lays golden eggs. It also leaves out all the bloodshed and hatred of your book.
