Anyone who wants to hear people trying to make music that sounds like the first couple Silverchair albums need only tune in to any American rock station. I'm personally proud of them for being as fearless/inventive as they've become.

Silverchair has always been an amazing live band. I liked the orchestral pieces on Diorama and Neon Ballroom but I just don't like the keyboards on the songs in Young Modern. I like every Silverchair album and pretty much all their b-sides but I really can only listen to 2-3 songs from Young Modern, this being one of them.

young modern was way overproduced. the songs sound WAY better live.. you get a much better idea of where daniel johns was coming from with the music.

Its taken a year for YM to grown on me... I was an enemy... now I'm an ally... but I just can't seem to like Paul Mac.. I don't even know what it is... the aussie mullet? the oddly feminine way he bounces on his stool? or maybe its because I blame him for taking Silverchair in their current musical direction... Kinda like Daniel's own Yoko Ono... either way, I just want to punch him in the face... Silverchair is great!!! Paul Mac should be drowned in the sea...

What about The Dissociatives? I think they are/were awesome, it was a great project. To me Silverchair keeps getting better and better, YM is beautiful just like Diorama, not everyone can make this sort of music nowadays.

Well I had one fabulous comment spun forth in pure genius and I managed to hit escape. NUTS. Now it'll just have to suffice to abbreviate the sentiment- BRILLIANT. Daniel Johns encapsulates to me what Sting has done for himself (not comparing styles, just paths of success)- he repeatedly emulates the pinnacle of his talent album after album, and brings something different to the table every time. And it's great. Take your breaks to recover from your hard work- just keep coming back to us!

one of my favourites off young modern.

you cant say they are bad. if your a real silverchair fan you would stick by them. i bought this album & fell in love with it. I DONT LISTEN TO ANY MUSIC LIKE THIS, its so individual and different & it rocks. there old stuff is awesome to, but if they want to travel in this music direction, LET THEM.

it wont bother them that they have lost a few fans, THEY'VE GAINED A TONE MORE.

I fully agree! What do some people expect? They've grown up! If you were a true fan you would appreciate that & grow up with them. Sure, I love Frogstomp but I don't say their new stuff is horrible because it isn't. I saw them 2 times this year, & they still know how to put on a kick ass show. I loved them back then & I always will.
