  • Combination of three greatest talent of Hindi Cinema have produced so far!

  • This song moves me every time...time changes every thing. So obvious, yet it manages to perplex poets through the eons. And the emotion they use, the resistance to change..it's so sweet and yet so bitter...buddham sharnam gacchami!! Make sense of this maya for me..

  • This song inspired Nazar Na Lag Jaye Kisiki Rahon Mein which was again a superhit

  • This is such a song that make me feel as if it was written for me.Thanks for uploading.

  • @Amitabhify - You are most welcome, my dear friend.

  • Wov

  • Tis happens so ofetn with someone we love

  • The best of Kaifi Azmi(in my opinion) and Geeta Dutt.Of course Guru Dutt makes his presence felt with his direction.Such subtle, underplayed scenes were rare in those days.

  • Ohh! what a nice song sung nicely by Geeta Duttji with super lyrics !

  • Gives me goosebumps!! I can read my life story in every word of this song. Not only is this breathtakingly beautiful but reminds me of all the heartbreaks in my life and all the shattered dreams too.

  • @kriffindor1 - You are most welcome, my dear friend.

  • the intensity, conviction , melancholy and melody in Geetha did's voice is so sweet that we get trasferred to a world of tranquility and reminiscences without awareness.Great!Dr.Nagaraj.B.Mysore

  • The sadness in the music and geeta dutt's voice touches the heart. Excellent picturisation with good camera movements and remarkable use of light and shadow! I love this song!

  • Geetaji has been and will remain immortal even long after our departure to where she went. A voice and form of angel on this earth. God Bless you Geetji.

  • Excellent music, thanks for uploading

  • @prao100 - You are most welcome, my dear friend.

  • Superb picturisation..what a great song

  • Thank you Yuan Sir! This song reminds me of the year I first left India in 1959, aged 18 and the sadness of it lived in my heart as the ship pulled away from the docks in Bombay. But then you see, the man who wrote the song was a genius. Of course I saw the film before I left, 10 times in 1 week.

  • @TheRana41 - Thank you my dear friend for the kind of sad and sentimental comment [like the song itself!] on one of the best songs of Indian Cinema.

Take care and may God bless you.

  • @yuanyuanyuanyin Thank you Yuanji! Take care yourself and may God Bless you too and Lord Sri Maha Ganeshaji guide your footsteps through life.

  • It is a priceless gem - the song & the singer ! Thanks Yuan.

  • @Valparaiso436 - You are most welcome, my dear friend.

In my personal opinion, this is Late Ms. Geeta Dutt's best song ever!

    Thank you.

  • I'm speechless...

  • Dear Yuanyuan,

It is a timeless, evergreen song. It is this song that eternalises both the singer & the presenter. Thank you.

  • @Mr28121940 - You are most welcome, my dear friend.

By the way, call me Yuan.

All my friends call me Yuan.

    Take care.

  • Dear Yuan, thanx a lot for ushering me into my youthful days, when i never used to skip a single Gurudatt film. This one offcourse is a marvel of his films, the deep thinking GD is unmistakable so is the depth in the voice of Geetadutt. The most unfortunate thing in their lives was irreparable marital disharmony which ultimately culminated into devastation

  • @vng61 - Yes, my dear friend. Like this song [I believe this is a sad song according to the melody], they both had sad endings in real life.

    Really sad.

  • love this

  • Lyrics Writer of this Song Kaifi Azmi is the Father of Indian Actress and Social Worker Shabana Azmi

  • @MrYogi1965 - Shabana Azmi, one of the most talented actresses.

I never knew that she is the daughter of Kaifi Azmi, one of the most respected poets.

Thank you my dear friend for the valuable information.

  • @yuanyuanyuanyin - Her Brother Baba Azmi also Tried his Luck, don't remember in which field, may be in Music.

  • @MrYogi1965 - Yes, according to Wikipedia and IMDb, Baba Azmi is an Indian film cinematographer.

He has used his lenses in 27 films including "Arjun", "Beta", "Dil", "Tezaab", "Mr. India", "Akele Hum Akele", "Tum" and "Pukar".

His lat film was "Sirf....: Life Looks Greener on the Other Side" (2008).

  • @MrYogi1965 - It is just nothing my dear friend, when compare to what YOU have been doing for the last few days, I mean writing hundreds of lyrics of so many songs.

  • Waqt Ne Kiya, Kya Hasee'n Sitam

Tum Rahe Na Tum, Hum Rahe Na Hum

    Waqt Ne Kiya..

  • Be-Qaraar Dil, Is Tarah Mile

Jis Tarah Kabhi, Hum Juda Na The

    Be-Qaraar Dil, Is Tarah Mile

Jis Tarah Kabhi, Hum Juda Na The

Tum Bhi Kho Gaye, Tum Bhi Kho Gaye

Ek Raah Par, Chal Ke Do Kadam

    Waqt Ne Kiya..

  • Jaayenge Kahaa'n, Soojhta Nahi'n

    Chal Pade Magar, Raasta Nahi'n

    Jaayenge Kahaa'n, Soojhta Nahi'n

    Chal Pade Magar, Raasta Nahi'n

Kya Talaash Hai, Kuchh Pataa Nahi'n

Bun Rahe Hain Dil, Khawaab Dam-ba-Dam

    Waqt Ne Kiya..

-Kaagaz Ke Phool (1959) *Guru Dutt, Waheeda Rehman

Music : SD Burman Lyrics : Kaifi Azmi

    Singer : Geeta Dutt

  • It is quite apparent that Geetaji' has put everything including her soul in this song perhaps because she had to face this tragedy in real life.

  • One of the greatest melody of GEETRA JI

  • Dear Yuan..

    Thanks God bless You....

  • @DRMAHESHCHHAYA - You are most welcome, my dear friend and may God bless you too.

  • Fantastic Gem Son by Geetaji, Guru dutt make Good films like PYAASA,Sahab Bibi Gulam, Waheedaji greate act. Thanks for upload fabulous song

  • @Vipin283 - You are most welcome, my dear friend.

  • Beautiful song, no doubt. The movie was a disaster at the box office. Guru Dutt lost over Rs.17 Lakh on it. But his next ventures, Chaudvin Ka Chand and Sahib, Bibi aur Ghulam made up his losses.

  • This choreography itself is a song on celluloid, yet it is a book of subdued love. Nothing cheap here, worth a precious gem. Thanks Yuan, may you succeed ever-so-more in your genuine and friendly efforts in bringing the soft past into our present life.

  • @nandu1f - Thank you my dear friend for your extremely kind words.

May God bless you and take care.

  • Geeta Dutt brings such intensity and searing pain to Kaifi words....helpless, doomed love. Love that transcends but love that's tragic...Guru Dutt creator of such treasures was lost early and so is Geeta Dutt, a fantabulous singer deeply in love with Guru Dutt but caught in the cross-fires of romance. Waheeda was silent spectator then as well as now. Could there be anything more epic and more tragic?

  • what to say, gulp - brilliant, genius, fantastic - i was born in the same studio where this song was picturised - my father managed kamal studios. lived in that era .

  • @salimyusufnaqvi - You are most welcome, my friend and thank you for the sentimental comment.

    Take care.

  • Song of substance ! Thanks Yuan.

  • @Valparaiso436 - You are most welcome, my dear friend.

    Thank you.

  • The lyrics of the song are so good thanks for posting.

  • You are most welcome, my friend.

  • can anyone tell me what happen to Mr Guru Dutt ? & where is he ?

  • Mr Guru Dutt died on 10th October 1964, at the age of 39 years. His wife, Geeta Dutt died in 1972 at the age of 41.

  • singer - actors trio a real life on screen. a live example how sensibilities, attachments prove disastrous. a real movie of real lives. geeta dutt has rendered the bitter truth through her apt expression. a master piece indeed.

  • I am 19 and spent most of my life in US... and don't usually listen to hindi songs that much. beautiful song!

  • thank u so much for the beautiful song

  • You are most welcome, my friend.

  • this is very true in this country for us that are not able to leave our traditions .

  • The most beautiful song

  • The lyrics and story behind this song are truly timeless. Appreciation of beauty like this can not be expressed.

Bohat miharbani aap aur Geeta ji ki.

  • Superb song and picturisation, bringing to fore the genius of Guru Dutt, not only as a subtle actor, but also as a brilliant director. Thanks for uploading it.

  • Thank you my friend for the nice comment on the genius, Late Mr Guru Dutt.

  • This song is so beautiful - and, if you've seen the film, the reprise at the end when the director is a ruined man and the actress stands in the ray of sunlight and sings Waqt... to him in the deserted film set -

One of my favourite songs of all times and types.

    I'm English, by the way.

    Hi to everybody.

  • Thanks for the comment.

Our Indian friends will be pleased to read your nice comment, I am sure.

  • Wow. So touching. Tender song, Extraordinary camera, Superb direction; this was Guru Dutt's pinnacle of romantic movie making.

  • I just adore this song and the exquisite presentation - just wish there was a way it could reach a wider audience to receive the appreciation & accolades it deserves....

PS: I'm an Englishwoman living in Australia, who from a child was fascinated by the enigmatic mystery & spirit of India...

  • Thank you for this "special" comment, my dear frind.

Sincerely hope my Indian/Pakistani and Bangladesh friends will read this beautiful comment and all other comments you made on these old gems on several occasions.

Also hope that some friends will respond to you.

    Take care.

  • Thank you for your generous comments, Yuan, I do appreciate your benevolence, so refreshing in an often superficial old world! I hope I don't offend when I refer to the whole massive region as 'India', I mean the whole sub-continent, but characters are limited, so I abbreviate.... My thanks & appreciation, I hope need no abbreviation... I always assumed YouTube was some kind of computerized Ego-Fest, I just had no idea it was such an amazing resource... Thank you my Friend for enlightening me!

  • You are most welcome, my friend. I have found a wonderful website to watch all those old films, Hindi and English. I will send you a message now.

  • What a song.....Thanx Yuan!

  • You are most welcome, my friend.

  • Far cry from today's mindless numbers with so many instruments/noise. Such a soulful thought! Thanks for uploading.

  • You are most welcome, my friend.

  • excellent I visit here every day

  • You are most welcome, my friend.

  • Another truly beautiful song, sung with such passion and pathos, although I have little idea of what she laments, only speaking English,. For me it's easy to image loss, sorrow, regret, missed opportunity's - but maybe I've got it all wrong?? Can we have the title in English, too, PLEASEEEEE? Many thanks :)

  • Thanks for the mice comment.. Lyrics meaning is, I think you are correct somewhat in view of the TUNE and the SCENE!

I too do not know Hindi but our kind viewers will help you with the translation, like in the past, I am sure.

    Can someone, please?

  • Thanks, You're welcome, Y; just glad you are posting these great clips, sharing them with a wider audience - even if we don't precisely get the meaning! That might not be a bad thing, as we can appreciate them on a purely soulful and intuitive level...and isn't this the great gift of movies, that we can still go on appreciating them indefinitely, after the actors and the Process have long gone, & now with the internet, they shouldn't be forgotten & relegated to faded memories? Fantastic job! :)

  • Thanks for your nice poetic words, my friend. Take care.

  • Merci! I'm looking forward to your next posting with intrigue... Enjoy your day :)

  • Trying a very inept translation - Time has brought such a beautiful trouble you are no more yourself neither me myself restless souls mingle so deep as if we were never so apart you got lost i got lost too we had once taken two steps together where to go now cannot decide have embarked but no way to find what to seek we know not each breath is weaving a dream.
  • Thank you my friend for the pain and time you have taken for the translation. I really appreciate.

Many viewers [including "SamllWonda" and myself] will be benefited by your kind action.

    Thanks again and take care.

  • Many Thanks - A lovely attempt I'm sure which perfectly complements the scene - I guess from my understanding of the synopsis of the film these 2 characters had become potentially romantically entwined, but duty & family meant he had to leave her to return to his wife & children... Love's path doesn't always run true or smooth... Thanks amisunny... :)

  • man...great collection. these movies are hard to find.

  • You are most welcome, my friend.

  • its not easy to sing such a song. 50 years have passed and people are still listening to it.

  • There will be listeners/admirers in another 50 years time too, I believe. That is the beauty of these kind of old gems!!!

  • Very good song added to my orkut profile Thanks !!!!!!!!

  • You are most welcome.

  • everyone goes through similar path of life...it reflects one's inner side....it happens and true

  • A masterpiece of monumental proposition. Direction was magical. Life is kaagaz ke phool, perhaps but memories are not. Since memories do not die, life is eternal. How can one forget the smile of a baby or the face of a poor beggar on the streets. God is visible everywhere, even in tragedy. A billion blessings to you !

  • Thank you my friend for the very nice comment. Take care.

  • [tears]

  • This is a beautiful, heart rending song. The movie, a tragedy, was a classic! I thought in some ways it was autobiographical by Guru Dutt.

  • Kaagaz Ke Phool was a movie which was much ahead of the times in which Guru Dutt lived, so many people could not understand his genius then. But this movie is nowhere less compared to his all time hit Pyaasa.

Geeta Dutt's voice full of pathos and Sachinda's music is a magical combination ! One of the greatest songs I ever listened.

  • Thank you for the very nice comment. Take care.

  • What a beuty. Many thanks
