  • NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL MUSIC.... O'H YEAH

  • Downey on drums ,***** .

  • I'm amazing how hardly anyone under the age of 25 or 30 has even heard of Thin Lizzy makes me want to beat my head against the wall. I just can't grasp that when there were one of the most influential rock bands in music history!

  • @VSAdriana I have :P

  • @VSAdriana That's because they've been brainwashed by the likes of Simon Cowell & whoever the hell produces this abysmal rap & r&b shite. Music died in about 1985. Thankfully I entered this world in 1965...in plenty of time to live, breathe & rejoice in the best band to have ever graced the Milky Way....THIN LIZZY!!!!!!

  • @whitbyjet65 thats bs ,there was guns n roses ,early mettalica ,the prodigy , rage against the machine and many others.

  • @phunkyboy Well maybe you like those bands but I certainly don't.

  • @VSAdriana

relax man there still are the musical elite who do:P

  • Such an amazing band, it truly makes me proud to be Irish and inspires me to follow my dreams to one day make it this far :_

  • @GNRJaffa *:)

  • @GNRJaffa You do realise that Thin Lizzy was made up of many different nationalities, don't you? The line-up on Chinatown was 25% American & 25% English. And despite Phil being proud of his Irish roots, he was actually born in England to a Brazilian father. Thin Lizzy had no nationality, they were just rock Gods.

  • @whitbyjet65 While this is correct, i was simply referring to the band in general which is irish, but thanks for the info :)

  • simply love this number, masterpiece

  • este siguesiendo phil

  • This is hands down 1 of the BEST hard rock albums ever, & its like it never happened!! I still rock this cd, the guitar gams all over this make it a must have 4 ALL lizzy & metal lovers! Ok im better now.

  • fuck brian downey really has that shuffle groove down, this is with scott gorham and snowy white, a great song with some powerful drumming and guitar playing, one of lizzy's best,

  • 9 ppl got fucked up in China Town !

  • Beyond the realms of awesome.

  • Judas Priest...Thin Lizzy...Black Label Society...Oct 30...Can't Wait.

  • @zZzMotherShipzZz man i envy you !!!wish they come to Aussie land .

  • fuckin' classic..

  • The guiter solos of this song keeps me coming back to it.What can I say?

  • Dear Skinny Lizzy, RELEASE the Chinatown DOUBLE DISC ALBUM ALREADY!!!! Please, I want to ..."Go down to CHINATOWN"!!!!! SNOWY WHITE TERRANCE WHITE!!!!! RELEASE THE HOUNDS...........

  • This Song deserves MORE HITS WTF!!

  • Happy Birthday Philo!!

  • Saw them live at the old Comisky Park in Chicago in the 70's. They brought down the park. Phil apologized for playing a short set because they had to fly back to Europe. RIP Phil and Gary.

  • out standing rock and roll. they rocked the house.

  • snowys solos a killer ! {on the loose}

  • Thin Lizzy is one of the best rock bands in history.Their music is as relevant NOW as it was in 1975

  • This song is the first Thin Lizzy song to really blow my mind. I remember hearing this for the first time from a vinyl I had borrowed from my dad's friend...this title song is still one of the greatest hard rock/heavy metal songs of all time, a hard-hitting iron-clad kung fu punch in my face!!!

  • @Sabbathman1979 I like the Thin Lizzy/ Kung Fu connection you make, and it is absolute truth from the time.

Back in school days, you were either a Lynyrd Skynyrd roughneck, or a Thin Lizzy master of martial arts.

Or, of course...just a plain old nerd.

  • Just imagine how messed up these comments would be if i made a comment every time i watched this video...

  • one of best rock songs ever

  • The guitar work in this song....just sick.

  • @unravelled1962 thanks for the info and Thanks Fuck for That,he deserve it ten folds,

  • I wish I would have written this song. :(

  • one of the best songs they done , ONE OF MANY

  • A T. Lizzy classic. Peace.

  • Always wondered if Lenny Kravitz got started from listening to TL.

  • ADs activated = copyright infringement. i watch non-vevo videos to avoid ads. i should just report this.

  • DOWNEY.... EFFORTLESS

    GORHAM & WHITE..... GENIUS

  • DOWNEY.... EFFORTLESS

  • plenty of great guitar chops - nice!

  • I am without speech...thanks

  • yeh downey never got enough recognition for his drumming quality, love his sound on bad reputation.

  • why Brian Downey is not rated as one of the greatest drummers of all times is a fricking mystery. Everywhere you just read Bonham, Moon, Micthell blah blah blah. This dude don't even get a mention. now that just ain't right. is it? A knighthood for serivces to drumming should be a minimum for this chap. Anyway arise Sir Brian!

  • @dazzyboy74 Well for those in the know he is known as one of the greatest. Yea I like Bonham and Moon but BD always delivered the goods in the studio AND live. I saw them 3 times in the 70s and each time they were great. My favorite BD work is on Emerald but its all good.

  • @dazzyboy74 I'm with ya man, Brian Downey KILLS on drums. Lizzy on one of those bands some of us got back in the day and its took 20 plus years for the rest of the world to catch up and realize how great there were.

  • Been a lizzy fan all my life ....i just came to the conclusion this is their best moment.

  • oh great the top comment is replaced by two comments saying how well said the original top comment was

  • IT seems almost every old band i look at on here, the main guy is gone, died young, Rock and Roll must be a hard life.. all these great talented guys gone..

  • What a band

  • fantastic song by Thin lizzy ever preformed always liked this song the rock solo in it I think is proper kick ass and the song too is kick ass R.I.P Philip Lynott and R.I.P Gary Moor as well you did well godbless you both.

  • God loved Thin Lizzy so much, Phill Lynott was so awsome, music not the same anymore, glad i was born way back then.

  • @tallica4lifegbrtdyDM I feel your pain. You see, you're frustrated because your love and appreciation for Thin Lizzy is genuine and of quality. Unlike millions of people(quantity), who watch or listen to things not out of genuine love but because, they get cought up with mass media advertisement or because it's the flavour of the day. That's the difference.

  • Here's another classic, great, and extremely influential band that has been grossly and sadly overlooked by the so-called Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Just another reason not to take the HOF seriously.

  • 9 people don't stand a chance

  • its a shame music is shit now.

  • Phil My Hero. xxxxxxxxxx Love you soo much. xx I hope ur still that Phil we all knew here. xx

  • 1 of my favourite thin lizzy tracks

  • Amazing drumming throughout this song, the drums take it to another dimension for me, simply amazing song and amazing band

  • 1980, a great year in the history of music

  • I took this record to music class in school and in the guess what i was the only one that liked it as I was the only one who like thin lizzy!. Any way BBC four did a documentary about them so I feel vindicated Ha Ha

  • Snowy White-Era. Interesting.

  • In chinatown you better look around! hehehe. Thin Lizzy is simply just amazing!!

  • muy buena rola!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • amazing song

  • yesssss mate!

    you got that right! ;)

  • yeh its FUCKEN GREAT !!!!

  • who can dislike this song?! its amazingggggggggggggggggg!!

    i love it :) <3

  • I forgot about this song. A friend had the LP on cassette and we used to put it in the car stereo and rock out with it. Because the classic rock radio stations are so obsessed with playing the same 12 songs over and over everyday, we don't get to hear good songs like this one that have been collecting dust. All you people who upload this kind of good stuff....THANKS!

  • what a fuckin great track

  • R.I.P. Gary Moore

  • @strunzal 10-4

  • snowy does a awesome solo as well on this song!!

  • this song ROCKS;great guitar riffs once again from the one and only SCOTT GORHAM; man he is fucken unreal!!!!

  • JODER! no me canso de oiros, SOIS LOS MEJORES. Es difícil encontrar grupos con más marcha que la vuestra. ONENAK ZARETE. PENTSATU DUZUE ZURE ITZULERAN.

  • there's a thing to be said about a band that cares about music instead of ratings & RECORD COMPANIes. LONG LIVE ROCK & ROLL!!!!!

  • Such a classic riff. Simple yet instantly recognizable and memorable. I remember my big brother had the album on vinyl back in '80. Cheers for posting.

  • I think Chinatown has come to Washington.

  • saw them in Belfast many moons ago. Was priveledged to be born in the sixtes and rock with this band through the seventies

  • Phil Lynott was the coolest man around. He was once asked what it was like to be black and Irish. He replied - 'Like a Pint of Guiness'.

That song is just smoooking !!

  • They were a fucking machine this band. Every lineup kicked proper arse.

As for this, Phil & Snedgy, there just are no words.

Scottys solo is a spine tingler n'all. A Strat never sounded nicer IMO (with the possible exception of Murray).

And Brian Downey top top man criminally underrated never gets enough credit safe as prefabs.

  • Bass - mind blowing, Guitar - spine freezing and the drums are just rumblin thats Thin Lizzy - awesome

  • Comment removed

  • The first solo....the mind-blowing solo is Snowy White. It's probably my favorite guitar solo of all time. Lightning fast but very difficult and so ballsy.

  • ONE kick ass band, from the east coast,THIN LIZZY ,rocks on ,and always will...

  • @smokinjoetinak east coast of IRELAND maybe.

  • That guitar solo is so fucking beautiful! It's like floating on air!

  • Is it just me or does this one seem severely underrated?

  • <3

  • I LOVE THIS SONG :) MISS YOU PHIL 25 YEARS TODAY

  • ive listened to thin lizzy know there more known songs but this 1 WOW thats a solo

  • Comment removed

  • muito bom....leve

  • great track live.

  • I fucking miss you Phil Lynott!

  • This tune still blows me away after all these years....

  • I ask people, "Ever heard of Thin Lizzy?" And they say no. Then I start singing the boys are back in town and they're like oh, yeah. People should know more Thin Lizzy.

  • Simply Outstanding! This *Excellent*Video* Was 1ST Released in May/June of 1980 in San Francisco, CA. & I had to wait until Dec.19th,1980 to See Them Live At The Warfield Theatre on Market St. in San Francisco, CA. .. But It was well worth the wait! They *Kicked Ass* & Neil Schon from JOURNEY was there too & came out to Jam *Cowboy Song* W/Phil & The Band & That was AWESOME!

  • @SpeedRacerX01 Hello my friend. I saw them a couple times here in SoCal before this tour but I had front row center orchestra pit for the last show in the states ever.........the next night (12-20-80) at the Santa Monica Civic. My friend and I spent the night outside the arena and we were first in line when the box office opened the next morning. One of the greatest nights of my young life. Me, my girl and 6 of my best friends. Look up at ceiling........that was our view! Peace!

  • im 16, and i've only gotten in to these guys recently, but they are such an awesome band. i dont get why music isnt like this these days?

  • @SGKlD Good man! Pity you never had the chance to see them live. You missed something special. Keep rocking, fella.

  • Wow! Thumb up just for the opening..... nice!

  • Thanks Lizzy baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

  • Thats so asome !!! teh riff is like WOW!!!!!

  • THIS IS METAL BOYS AND GIRLS.....

  • @kazp6985 Its rock not metal!!

  • The guitar is...UNREAL!

  • One of the best solo ever from Scott Gorham... You want to listen to it from A to Z, again and again. Perfect match.

  • 7 people are gay bieber fans

  • @enternollie93 oh shut up already...

  • sorry but i just can't stand the music nowadays, they don't make em like this anymore.

  • @enternollie93 no need to be sorry, music to day should be sorry for being such shit and a disgrace in the eyes of older music like this

  • The GREATEST RIFF EVER AND I MEEN IT!!!!!

  • monster guitar work - listen to the clever construction of the solos - total technique but total understanding of phrasing. Most "fast" players couldn't even get into the ball park against this.

  • Snowy White may not be the quickest, but certainly knows where the next note

    goes!

  • Snowy White may not be the quickest, but he knows where the next NOTE

    goes! OUCH

  • Hmm...remembers me of the Chinatown quarter in Vampire: Bloodlines the game a lot...

  • awesome addictive song,great stuff

  • Thin Lizzy takin it badass down in Chinatown!

  • Probably the second tightest song ever recorded. Steve in Canada.

  • Fuckin Bad To The BONE!!!!!!

  • this shit is totally badd ass

  • Badass stuff here! I heard this song for the first time on sirius last yr and I love it!

  • Is it just me or is this one of the best songs of all time?

  • when I was four years old my dad played thin lizzy on his huge stereo. Now I'm 16 years old and I'm still wishing new bands made music like this

  • Why didn´t this song become their most famous? Such an underrated song!

  • rocks my socks ROIGHT ORF

  • ABSOLUTE LIZZY BRILLIANCE

  • Need 7 bullets here!

  • that drummer badd ass

  • whats underrated mean anyway? i love it,you love it. how could it be underrated? its not the quantity of appreciation, but quality of it.

  • @MrErol12 Well said...

  • @MrErol12 Well said Mr Erol, I liked that so much I just wrote it down. Good health to you Sir, and all the other fine Lizzy fans.

  • I contend that the first guitar solo in this song, played by Snowy White, is probably the greatest rock guitar solo in history.

  • this is one of my favorite drummers

  • I'd sell my soul to be able to play the drums like Brain Downey does on this song. He's one of the greatest and yet little known rock drummers on the planet.

  • great song.

  • Love Lizzy great band one of the best this is my fav lizzy song

  • I know everyone says Chinatown was Lizzy's weakest album but this song is immense. One of my favourite riffs from any song.

  • Anyone who appreciates rock&roll knows this song is probably one of the greatest ever written and recorded.

  • Gary Moore's a fuckin beast

  • @NinjaJedi11 Gary Moore is a beast but this track features Snowy White and Scott Gorham from possibly weakest Lizzy album.Class act Lizzy.

  • When it comes to rock from Ireland. Screw U2, Thin Lizzy kicked so much ass back then that they stared the great 1970s ass-kicking epidemic. RIP Phil

  • in which ambum is this song?

  • @00luizz lol really? Chinatown is the name of the album bro. =)

  • @00luizz whats a ambum

  • everything that could be said about this tune it says itself! Long live Philo and the mighty Lizz!

  • Un temaso único de los Lizzy, por éste rock comencé a escucharlos, un OSCAR para CHINATOWN

  • this was 'i dont know how to say it' the cream of the crop.the reason people aren't familiar with thin lizzy as you say is because english fuckers like led zeppelin and pink floyd(believe it or not) were anti irish.the mainstream music was british influenced, these guys, lizzy weren't given a chance.back in the 70's Lizzy ruled.

  • i agree Thin Lizzy its a fuck'n great rock band, but most of the peaple listen the bands for theirs status and not for their sound

  • f**k

  • yay- instructions:

    1) play loud-

    2) de-stress

  • in china town you better look around.......long live phil's fav band ......thin lizzy for ever and ever

  • there is no chinatown in Ireland to my knowledge so he must have felt more English in the end dont forget thats where his mother met his father in London and as young peformers thinn lizzy moved to London England to promote their careers this must of inspired some of his music what legends they are more appreciation for them is needed definitley

  • Phil once said "When I'm in England, I say, I'm from Ireland. When I'm in Ireland, I say, I'm from Dublin. When I'm in Dublin, I say, I'm from Crumlin. When I'm in Crumlin, I say, Leighlin Road. When I'm in Leighlin Road, I say, I'm a Lynott." - Phil Lynott "

Its unlikely" he felt more english in the end" you need to be irish to understand why

  • @silversultan nah man. The guy loved American culture. You know the boys are back in town. He's singin about 'Dino's bar and grill' and the cowboy song. Nothing to do with England.

  • EPIC!!

  • wicked song

  • go down in chinatown

  • Ireland forever.

  • Awesome musicians!

  • if only more were makin this kind of rock in 1980 mwuahaha, bad year for rock for the most part, disco smacked it for a while

  • Super song - Super band

    RIP Phil Lynott

  • I'm a big Lizzy fan but the best thing about this album was Jim Fitzpatrick's cover art.

  • whoooooooooooo!

  • Loves Snowys t- shirt!

  • one of the best riffs ever!!

  • I seen them in 1983...great show..they should have never split up

  • love how its making chinatown seem dark and mysterious and exotic lol totally a great add for chinatown lol :p x

  • Snowy, Scott & Brian are awesome on this track.

Killer riffs & a great groove.

  • such a great but underrated band

  • underrated by whom? Lizzy are cited by some of the biggest names in metal/hard rock as a major influence.

  • @digimaton yeah i know, but most people only know them by the boys are back in town. and they are so much more than that song.

  • @DesecrationSmile52 Under-rateed by...???

  • @mrzedlyt Everyone. They should be a lot more well known

  • @DesecrationSmile52 well they werent terribly underrated like other greats such as diamond head or budgie, but i guess they werent given as much credit as they shouldve
