Just one man's opinion; however, I think a Native American video would have gone MUCH better with this song. It IS a NA lyric and just thought I'd throw that into the mix!
@sevenonpaper no-no, there was more than one version of the song. the origanl was "water spirit." B&S leanred the song phonetically, the funny thing is that they got the naive part perfetc and messed up the english.
what a bizarre juxtaposition...Brewer and Shipley's Wichi Tai To and then...wait for it...RAP MUSIC?? what. the. FUCK????!!! who wants to hear THOSE assholes???
Great version of the song. B & S were very underrated. Saw them as an opening act to Jethro Tull in 1973 and people were yelling for them to get off the stage. Next time I saw Tull, Livingston Taylor (ugh) opened and the crowd gave him a big hand. No accounting for taste.
Well, we had one in Fresno in the mid'60s to mid-'70s, and that was the place to go for records (best prices, best selection). It closed in 1974--The Wherehouse was just getting started and Tower was on the horizon. There's a Mervyn's now where WF used to be.

I look with envy at the weather - in my place it's now 7C and windy. But running is a great fun.
All the best.

I used to go there as a young teen, and just got back from 10 days in the keys, 4 of them I spent here in KW, great shots . . .

and FYI? It's NOT "water spirit"...it's "What a Spirit Spring is bringing round my head..." as in "What a day!"

Gotta love Buffet: promote the whole Keys & Key West thing, make a bundle, help irreparably damage it, then slime off to NY. Good riddance.

It must be amazing to be in that kind of shape and run all over Key West. Love the music and scenery.

I bicycled to White Front in the spring of 1972 to buy the Weeds LP solely because of this song (the whole album is great).
Thanks for posting this video, and also the lyrics to Witchi Tai To.
