i think the board of education should work with youtube to take advantage of youtube broad audience. make some kind of study program so kids can practice on there home work and class work on the weekends and weekdays after school this should be mandatory. this is the best way students can get there test scores up. this should be the topic in the p.a.t meetings.
Students have found a work a round the proxies and I tend to turn a blind eye when they are in my class. There is too much educational content on YouTube for it to be blocked. If they block it for the unsavoury content, then we should block the use of books as well. Education is the key as well as walking around the class. Too many teachers sit up the front when teaching on computers - this is poor form given the fact we can have bluetooth keyboards, tablets and mice.
I use it all the time. It is unblocked for staff so I use it when I am plugged in with the data projector. I teach Business, ICT and Marine Studies for Year 8-12
Hi, I really like this clip. I am a Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology and currently working on a project on Web 2.0 tools. Would it be alright with if I can use this clip in my project and reference and cite? Thank you!
I think youtube can be used as sort of a support group for teachers . I teach in the inner city in the U.S.A and sometimes I need to just blow off some steem.
I think in High Schools youtube would be great. I can see these older kids putting it to good use by making informative videos.
I teach 8th grade U.S. History in Indiana. My school currently blocks the YouTube site. I would like to use video clips to familiarize students with current events such as political candidates. I would not be comfortable allowing students free access to the site due to the inappropriate material that is available, but I would be comfortable picking appropriate clips and showing them to my students.
You may want to look into the study on youtube currently underway at Kansas State University. I am a part of the digital ethnography group at K-State involved in making an entire class out of researching youtube, so yes, youtube has a place in the classroom.

Agreed. I think teacher-directed use of YouTube can be extremely helpful.
