sORRY BRO. But it was a hella run. Not bad, it could have blew up or something. I think it was awesome and I am willing to take a collection for an even bigger rocket.
I was there for that launch. There was supposed to be a second stage on an 'N' motor. Would have been even more spectacular if that had ignited. Apparently, none of the electronics were armed.
@MBIPINC Well it depends how high how fast they wanted it to go. I thought that, and due to the arc wondered whether one of the motors failed to ignite (they do say at the end there's a live motor) but nothing in the description says it was supposed to go higher, just that the recovery didn't work.
Model rocket builders have to be like Generals, They have to be willing to see the thing they love destroyed, because sooner or later it probably will be.
thats noised over not in, by the way your suppose to open the chute before it hits the ground its alot cheaper, havent you heard of radio remote control it will also blow a chute out the noise cone...
If you watch the video showing how he built it, you would not find it so much funny as a sad ending. He worked very hard on this project. If it helps, people will remember this for years to come.
LOL, well your launch wasnt straight anyways, it was too heavy, and your thrust wasnt even. Also it would have helped to double check the parachutes AND have a higher altitude for deployment. It didnt go high enough for the recovery system to be able to activate in time.
Does anyone know what motor/motors this rocket used? Because it looked like it started arcing over the instant is cleared the launch tower, and reached apogee only a second or two after burnout.
@Omnigeek6 P and two Ns in lower stage, one N in upper stage I think. Not enough really, but considering the time it was a lot. Could have used 3x Q motors staged to a Q.
I love the voice on the video "bye bye..." it just makes the whole thing lol. another video clip I have has a rather irreverant play-by-play of the rocket as it nosed in.
Now if only they had put a in it than it would have better. Thanks the video. Im marijuana I smoked. ldl

Seems the problem wasn't the recovery system, it was the second stage ignition system.

SierraKilo9 3 months ago
Simple solution, use a bigger motor! 5X the weight for the thrust would be a great place to start.
Obviously way under powered.
