Even dark eyebrowed girls like me are advised to use dark brown pencils for daytime and black pencils for night time. it's sorta like common sense here. It blends perfectly anyway.

definitely stay away from black but with my complexion grey might be too ashy

Try a "soft" black. Thats what I use and it comes out a shade lighter than my normally black eyebrows. covergirl sells a soft black shade that may look good..
