  • amazing, so good to see a child prodigy who doesn't fade out in their teens

  • veramente fantastico

  • ...che sarà di lui...

  • Alcuni suoi sguardi...preludono ciò

  • moscow 1984: another world!

    bravo Kissin!

  • interesting how the responses reflect the responders-i sense Chopin designing finger puzzles- anticipating the Preludes and Etudes- any pianist will b grateful for the video- the talent- the interpretation- you name it- C's icy brilliance- power- K raises real questions of innate, genetic skill and can it be tot? maybe why C was such a pain as a person (at least later in his life) but then- i imagine Bach to b nice to the end? hmmmm Thanx b to ? for music- the composers, the performers!

  • Perhaps, but he did not have an extrardinary beggining and also he did not reach the highest standard at that age. He had now.

  • Incredible! And such a difficult piece. Thank you for posting this lcip.

  • Goodguysdoll: i guess you are an unsuccesful teenager want to be musician? There might be some in the 100,000 like nelson Friere, Arcadi Volodos. These people were not child prodogies and grew to "fame"and to being a sincere musician much later in life.

  • @gkollias14 - I'm sorry but Nelson Freire started giving concerts at a very early age.

  • one of the best child prodigies - up their with Chang's videos

  • At 12-years-old, Kissin has some of the largest hands I've ever seen. Wow! What an adorable child, though. He is as beautiful as an angel and is playing with a maturity and artistry that few have...

  • I'm not even into classical music, but to me this boy is a brilliant example of genius being genetic. I know his skill has grown, but the way he feels music even as a child is beyond the emotional capacity of a "normal" 12 year old child. He was born to play music it comes from inside him, that is just obvious. Thankfully he had intelligent and supportive parents who saw this and made sure it was nurtured properly so that we could appreciate his gift to us all. I salute them

  • I remember listening to him in the early 90's and actually crying because his interpretations and musicality were so moving to me. I asked my Russian piano teacher if she had heard of him, and she said she was at this performance in Russia when he was 12. I had no idea it was recorded and I could actually watch it after all these years. I have felt since the first day I heard him play, that he is the best pianist this world has ever known. It's really beyond words.

  • what makes this seem even more impressive is that the audio is totally out of sync with the video. It's as if he is dabbling in the black arts, and who knows, maybe he is.. ..and why not..

  • sounds like he has been playing the piano for his past few lives.

  • Anche io lo stò studiando il piano concerto n 1! Io ho 12 anni!

  • The frightening thing is that he's playing these concertos again, and they're even better.

  • that is scary

  • Comment removed

  • @maternelle01 there is no cadenza it's called a coda

  • bad audio :S

but it's still the most beautifull music i've ever heart in my live

  • @goodguysdoll Wtf. Asshole. And I don't even play piano, I'm a violinist.

  • he was such a cute kid! And now he's grown to be one of the greatest pianists of our lifetime- if not all time. I can safely say that I am proud of him. He's wonderful, I'm so happy I got to see him in concert finally. Definitely my favorite musician. <3

  • amazing boy...I'm speechless

  • Jesus... EK is so amazing. At 23 i struggled with this excerpt for months till i had it to my liking. I probably didnt devote as much as time to this as he did but still. Aboslutely amazing. I don;t see how 11 people didnt share the utter respect i do for kisin and this performance along with it. I hate to say favorite when it comes to music this powerful, but this excerpt has been my favorite of ALL music since the first time i heard it around 19. The chills go so deep... almost TOO moving.

  • OMG 2:29. At least 100,000 pianists worldwide should see this image and quit on the spot. Give it up all you "pianists" who think you have something special. There are way too many of you. And watch Nobu the blind pianist while you're at it. Give it up, unless you like lining the pockets of all of these useless conservatories.

  • That woman's face in his crotch is priceless.

  • 2:35 incredible

  • OH MA GOD

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • This is the Kissin I Love, the young Kissin!

  • WOW.

for a Russian kid, ppl say "fantastic! a prodigy, a true talent! he is a musical artiste!", when ppl go nuts over asian prodigies like Aimi Kobayashi... "OMG those asian parents are torturing their children, how can they rob them of their freedom like that?!"

  • @ExplicitMissy Russian-Hebrew (Jewish) to be exact. He speaks Yiddish among many languages ;)

  • This really is an amazing recording, even more so because he was only 12 at the time

  • great piece!

    interpreting are very nice!

  • Omg! Can anyone tell me where can i find the full version?

  • @ZhangZhongShi buy the cd =)

  • wow!!!

  • for a 12-year old to play something so difficult, perfectly in notes and interpretation is phenomenal!

  • Incredible ! what a powerful performance at such an early age ..

  • I saw his performance in a concert last year. He was at the beginning of his midlife but still full of joy of playing the piano just like the innocent boy in this video.

  • proof of God's existence..in young prodigies like this

  • Like a young Tulku. This kid can blow!

  • Kissin es el mas grande genio de la humanidad... Debido a que llevó el piano al siglo XXI, no solo como intérprete sino tambien como compositor poniendose así a la altura de Lizt o Chopin...

  • One of a kind! To play better then him? Absolutely impossible. His play affects by absolute interflow with music and a wonderful sense of proportion,

  • the random face of chopin scared me xD

  • Isn't it amazing that the career of Kissin has so fulfilled the promise he showed here. So many "wunderkinds" never live up to the promise shown in their youth. Kissin showed a maturity of interpretation and tempi you too seldom see, even in the gifted youngsters of today.

  • It is a pity the audio is not synchronized with the video..

  • Thank you,Zhenechka!

  • I have seen him twice in concert; those two occassions are among the great thrills of my life

  • It's a shame that the video and audio are not in sync. =(

  • people always laugh at his hair !!! but i lov his hair !!!! ;-D

  • @marcellabear it's a jewfro

  • What these people are doing in intercutting images of the single most famous painting of Chopin, which is on permanent display in the Louvre, into this concert video. Interistingly (for me anyway) Chopin hated this painting, though his relations with the painter remained OK. Also, this is only actually a piece of a painting, the rest of it being on dissplay apparently in Dennmark. Figure out what it shows.

  • omg 12 years old

  • What can one say! Evgeny Kissin is probably The Best

interpreter of Chopin in the Western World or Anywhere.

    MOST OF ALL . . . HE PLAYS . . . FROM THE SOUL!!!

    Sara Izod ~ si

  • @Awesomemystery his hair sucks though. Aren't there enought bird nests in this world?

  • evgeny is so amazing....

  • PRAISE CHOPIN FOREVER!

  • ...semplicemente grandioso....bravissimo super Kissin.

  • He is amazingly bad in comparation with kissin

  • Like most talented Pianists Kissin and Lang Lang included all music is left to interpretation . I have to admit that for his age kissin is amazingly mature in his interpretation. I recently heard another young pianist play this particular concerto and he was amazing also his name is Yundi Li. Listen to him and I think yopu will agree.

  • @Lachau2

Yundi Li was the first participant to be awarded the First Prize at Chopin Piano Competition in 15 years in 2000. I was pleasantly surprised by his performance back then, but have not heard much about him afterward. It is a shame, because, though he may not be as musically mature as Lang Lang, I feel his interpretation of Chopin has a personal touch that really moves people's hearts.

  • yundi li 18 years old in the competition chopin 2000 !!!!!

  • @youchocolateme Lang Lang is such a clown... His flamboyant expressions kinda make me hate him. Yundi Li is so much better!

  • @ilikehaku1100 I agree

  • i love you Kissin!Chopin would be proud of you!

  • Hey!

    Lang Lang is Lang Lang

    Kissin is Kissin

  • well at all.. Kissin played this concerto with 12 years better than Lang Lang today :D

  • you are very very wrong on this. You say exact the opposite thing. Its Bang Bang who plays like a robot. Kissin is absolutely better.

  • So agree!

  • @brassmonkeyjew The way music is played should matter more than age, league or anything superficial. Arrau had many critics which disagreed with the way he played certain pieces as did most if not all performers, as well as composers, of the past. In music, age doesn't exist. What makes an artist great is how he/she uses the instrument to produce ingenious and graceful sounds, not by the level of difficulty in producing them.

  • oh my god.

  • Impressionnant !!!

  • i love you evgeny

  • Born to play the piano. His mother must as well give birth to him next to the instrument! =)

  • Oh, Mann, es ist einfach herzzerreisend!

  • PISDEZ!

i had the chance to tell him in person what a great artist and performer he is, absolutely stunning

  • @HARRYGARRY21 You are very fortunate! I am envious of you. Kissin is such a great artist.

  • Un virtuoso del piano

  • minchia che perspicacia

  • I thought, 'jeez, he's good!' - until i saw that he's 12 years old here. Then I thought, 'this guy's a genius'.

  • CHOPIN was the real genius

  • of course but as rubenstein puts it, there are three kinds, some that imitate the composer and play mechanical, some that he calls interpreters, and of course the composer who is the genius

  • yes kissin is definitely the interpreter fantastic

  • @afertyus1000

    I can play faster!

  • @brassmonkeyjew yes so can i but i don't like the public!

  • it.... this is not from him....

  • A real miracle!!!

  • ce type est passionant

  • It must be coming from the heart of a boy. It really is beautiful. I have listened to a lot of other Evgeny Kissin after he became an adult. Most of his pieces are about technical prowess, although he has such excellent dynamics. This is such a tender piece for him. I consider him in the top 5 in the world today. A marvellous technician and interpreter.

  • I'm with you on that comment. Although I also consider him to be the greatest pianist of his generation.

  • unique!

    kissin forever!

  • pff, easy... *sarcastic*

  • Thats not him lol

  • Have you heard his recording on CD? Of course It's him.

  • Hail Chopin, King of Love.

  • Thanks for posting this!

It's the first of many legendary concerts from Kissin.

    Wonderful pianist!

  • Wow. I saw him in Toronto, and wow. For lack of a better word.

  • he do not play notes.. he is just feeling the music.. play this song as good as you want .. but 99% of everyone won't feel it.. he is amazing

  • too bad he didnt quite make it to all expectations, he could be the best pianist

  • wooooww 2:34 hes like ..gone ...amazing heart :)

  • God, when I was 12 I was watching tv while this genius was playing Chopin in such a good way he's just great.

  • jesus , terrible talent , just 13 years hold,, crazy

  • utter genius

  • awesome Evgeny !

  • Chopin est Roi de Piano.

  • Isn't it crazy that a little kid 's interpretation of Chopin is probably the best, along with Perahia?

  • Desperately musical. Little Kissin%Proxy-Connection: keep-alive

    Cache-Contro

  • He is a genius, he plays and composes music. Wow. A lot of genius has crazy hair.

  • 12歳・・・(´・艸・`;) 彼にいったい何があったん??? Geniusv(~∇~*)⌒☆

  • I lumte bre!

  • Om my good, how ol d are he hear!!

  • 12...ehm :-D just amazing!

  • SENZA PAROLE...

  • Amazing!!!

  • прекрасно помню это. как естественно и по шопеновски у него звучал рояль, ведь он в свои 12лет играл лучше многих шопеновских победителей! И где у него все это теперь? все идеально, но совершенно безлико. Так жаль...

  • Неправда

  • aww.

    he looks so cute!

  • Nature just bestows a gift every once in a while, and humanity is preserved.

  • Went to his recital just yesterday for some Prokofiev & Chopin. Even though I prefer Volodos, but Kissin truly is one of the best pianists of our time. Just a matter of preference (and they could have tuned the piano, of course, no wonder Zhenya doesn't come to SF too often LOL). No one can say he isn't good enough. He is one of the best!

  • scary.

  • don't forget: this boy is 12 years old then... Listen to him now, you who's doubtful... :)

  • kissni doesn't theink about what he plays . he is just feels the music

  • You are all talking about kissin and that he is such a bad pianist. If anyone of you would be better you haven't got time to compare thousands of pianist. You have to train and you need to have your own style. Go now to your piano and you will see you can't play as good as he.

  • which chopin concert is he playing?

  • no 1 mvt 1

  • that piano is so well tuned!! kissin sounds like a whole orchestra playing this, so much sound and color!!

  • Listen to Rafal Blechacz too....

  • fazil say has be my favourite pianist at the moment, but i`ll change my mind depedning on the music, and the setting.

listen to kissen playing lilacs, rachmaninov, he plays with depth and love for the music, i put in on repeat :)

  • oh em gee. hes amazing
