  • wow a teenage Gail with a mousie voice .....so cute ...I was 12 and in school when that played at 3 pm ..

  • I really want t see what happens when Annie discovers Hilda did the painting. Its funny, i have watched present day episodes of Coronation Street and couldn't care less what happens in the next episode, its just not worth watching anymore.

  • I wish I had been born during this era of Coronation Street, I have not watched it since the late 90s..The acting, OTT storylines and plots have ruined this show now, mainly down to Producer Brian Park who came along in the mid 90s..Some of the best writers like Adele Rose quit because of him...Having watched The Road to Coronation Street, Tony Warren created a strong vision of decent, ordinary working class families with pathos and strong matriarchs which has sadly gone.

  • Great episode until the point where Brian Tilsley appears - is he the most wooden actor ever to appear in Corrie?

  • helen worth hot back then haha

  • LOL @ Gail's high pitched voice! What a change from then to today!

  • @JGordonPanic electrocution lessons

  • I really loved this programme from the 1960s to the mid-1990s.

  • whos that guy talking to ken at 2:18

  • @JohnAdams198805 Its Uncle Albert, Kens first wife, Val, that got electrocuted, it was her Uncle, and when she died, Ken stayed on in Albert's house.

  • is that rita sullivan who starts sneezing

  • @matthewsomethingteen Emily Bishop. Or was she still Miss Nugent at that time.

  • @matthewsomethingteen No, It was Emily who was sneezing. Emily Bishop.

  • My God! That brings back some memories! I remember Uncle Albot Tatlock, these were in the pre-Deirdre days, classic era of Corrie.

  • The best era of Coronation Street 1970's-80's.

Character driven plots, solid writing and loveable characters.

We also, prefer the 70's opening and closing theme.

The show today is so fantastical, explosions, cartoon-like characters, weak screenplays, and too sensationalistic.

We don't watch anymore, and miss the old days.

  • Great episode, love old Corrie.

  • So much better than how it is now!

    Sad x

  • @LiamBerryTea I agree, wish i could been child at this time, to have grown up in this wonderful era of Corrie.

  • nevermind brians faux irish accent ,what about gails broad scouse wtf

  • In This Clip, From 4:45 To 5:07, It Was "Coronation Street" Video Close From January 8, 1979.

  • didn't realise Brian had an Irish accent in his early years.

  • @memoir4you

So he has. In our house back then, we always thought disco-dick was trying for some Jaggeresque mid-Atlantic effect.

  • @krakenwave Weird! Within a few yhears he was broad Manchester and saying "flamin' nora"!

  • Eddy yates...the king of England.

    move over Gordon.....

  • Thanks again :)
