  • i Want to be part of the human race :/

  • the album cover looks like a guy reaching nirvana/having an orgasm

makes sense, he mustve been listening to this album

  • Can someone tell me the guitar effects/pedals used in this song? - particularly 1:05-1:15

  • @Nibbsy92 i dont think its an effect pedal as such, just feedback from the amp. could achieve with a boost pedal and loud volumes. or if ur gay u can use a digitech whammy

  • but i love those 13 seconds...

  • in NME's top guitar solo's, along with paranoid android!

  • O que é genial é a parte do meio da própria música the bends, cria a axpectativa de que vai entrar um solo escroto, mas não!

    òtima sacada!

  • The cover is very similar to the cover of nightswimming by REM

  • ¿? the fucking intro???

  • But I like the first 13 seconds

  • Where do we go from here?

  • who the fuck dislike this?

    Mother fuckers Bieber fans?

  • estoy aqui por outconsumer

  • A beauty of an album

  • 2.50 onwards... Greatest Rock thingy EVER. Play Air Guitar Like a mad bastard, you know you want to!

  • I Miss this album

  • 'The Bends' is completely jokey, completely taking the piss. None of that stuff had ever happened to us when we wrote it. That was our Bowie pastiche, our joke song ! And I really do wish I'd never written that fucking song - it's become the bane of my life. Hundreds of journalists asking - every single fucking interview : "Do you wish it was the sixties ?" No, I don't wish it was the fucking sixties - Levis jeans wish it was the sixties - I certainly fucking don't.

  • @lamochila66 I'm sorry do you think you wrote this song? I sort of doubt it. If you were in NYC you'd know all the hipsters are wearing Levi's now.

  • @juliekstroup ....You do realize that's a quote from Thom Yorke?

....And that Thom Yorke DID write that song?

..And that hipsters are a minority and not enough for any major company to make money off of, which is besides the point that it was a joke, regardless?

  • @juliekstroup Lmao

  • @lamochila66 Who are you?

  • @75xaya I'm guessing it's a Thom Yorke quotation.

  • @lamochila66 It's the greatest joke of all time!

  • i need to wash myself again, to hide all the dirt and pain coz id be scared, that theres nothing underneath. and who are my real friends? have they all got the bends am i really sinking

  • absolute monster of a song

  • Better than OK Computer I def think so :)

  • i love what one reviewer said about the bends : "U2 would sell crack to nuns to make an album like this"

  • @MrHavok29 omigod who said that lol

  • @jeremywoot I read it in Spin when i was a teenager...i had to buy the album after that and i was not disappointed. This was before Spin stole Q Magazine's layout and format ;)

  • @MrHavok29 It's from the rolling stones magazine

  • @SoundLoudBand You're right. I kind of felt that (it was written in rolling stone) but I couldn't resist a chance to make fun spin's layout change in a public setting . lol

  • @MrHavok29 xD

  • Truth. @MrHavok29 One of my favorite quotes too. From RS.

  • @MrHavok29 A bit pointless isn't it, considering how different U2 are to Radiohead. Radiohead are superior of course, as Bono himself admits ("I'd be willing to carry their cellos on my backs" and all that), but they are so very different.

  • My Favorite album of all time, The Bends...Oh yeah Thom your a genius :-)

  • 0:52...

I wanna make love on that.

  • if the bends was the 1st album you bought then you were lucky

  • @26wordy agreed, unfortunately for me being born in the 90s i was 12 in the 2000s so my first album was something related to disney.

  • lml

  • thegoodteacher(dot)com

  • When i need you.............

  • miss flying in motorcicle

    ahhh esas guitarras me relajan

  • One of my all-time favorite Radiohead songs, next to Paranoid Android, Bodysnatchers, and of course, Creep. :)

  • Somehow the great 3 songs starting with B (if you overlook the first word) on this album didn't get released as a single at the time of the album's release - The Bends, Bones, Black Star. Never mind. The Bends is a great song. Radiohead have since said that it's full of cliches - but it only makes it better that they admit that and that it remains a great song. What great lines: They brought in the CIA, the tanks and the whole marines To blow me away, to blow me sky high.

  • The Bends es unica. Aun me pone los pelos de punta.

  • 24 people have cd heads

  • Why is Radiohead so awesome?

  • What does "the Bends" mean ?? i can't translate it to my language ...

  • @Quosher It's a sickness, you get it if you've been deep under water and come up to the surface too quickly.

  • @Quosher its something that you get from scuba diving. its adjusting to the preassure improperly.

  • @petthehomeless More specifically, It is a condition in which nitrogen bubbles form in the blood stream as the pressure at depths allows it to become dissolved in the blood; it then become a precipitate upon the stress of reduced pressure (to the chemical system), kind of like taking the cap off of a bottle of soda. The release of pressure decreases a liquid's ability to have gasses dissolved in it. The bubbles form what are known as gas embolisms,

  • The beginning of this song is absolutely magical. One of those moments in music that just gives chills.

  • I think you could have cut off a further 32 seconds from the intro, which is just the same niosy guitar riff repeated over and over. It's a great song and it's the lyrics that drive it, not the relatively coarse guitar work.

  • @vapourmile wow I just saw this I couldn't disagree more thats my favorite part of the song. Those chords soar.

  • @pearljammer13 Fair go, if you like it, cool.

  • I want to live, breathe, I want to be part of the human race!

  • why I listen to radiohead coz their songs describe me

  • i want to be apart of the human race.

  • 2:50. :)

  • @MizGMizG Fuck, yeah. One of the greatest moments in music, Ever.

  • I think I just gave my self the bends jamming out to this song.

  • Thom Yorke you're our GOD!!

  • I stopped connecting with Radiohead after this album. It is good though.

  • I wish I could be happy..

  • @ChrysaCbain You can be happy. It just might take some time to realize it.

  • @jwahh Well I am happy(: I just love this lyric =)

  • one of the bests from the album... :)

  • I need ware off that 1 liter of coke I just drank.

  • I love Radiohead, and think OK Computer is hugly overrated.

  • @TheMusicdewd no its not all of their albums are the best how about that? :)

  • At first I thought The Bends was the best album I had ever heard, and never really knew what to think of OK Computer. But after finding out that many fans and critics praised it as one of the 'best albums of all time', I gave it a few more listens to find myself in complete agreement. The Bends is 10/10 perfection, but OK Computer is 11/10. Both albums make me jizz my pants, with the addition of Kid A and In Rainbows.

  • @Colliermoose

My thoughts exactly, those four albums you've mentioned are the greatest by Radiohead. The Bends, OK Computer, Kid A, In Rainbows.

  • @aijunk2 Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief are pretty damn good too though

  • @Colliermoose

You're right. The thing is though, I thought Hail To The Thief could of been better. To tell you the truth, there were a lot of good tracks but also a lot of rushed tracks. And Amnesiac was great, like you said. A lot of strong tracks, but songs like pulk/pull revolving door doesn't do it for me. I know its about opinion and stuff, but that's why Amnesiac wasn't a perfect album. Yes, it was amazing, but not perfect.

  • i used to do surgery, for girls 80s, but gravity ALWAYS wins!

  • @Quest4gnosis thats why you wish it was the 60's.... haha.

  • The Bends is the first album I ever bought

  • @caulpearson What does that mean if OK Computer was the first albun I bought?

  • @LeoJohnGalt Unless your tastes are extremely strange, the music you buy says almost nothing useful about you at all since walking into a high-street store, choosing an item and paying for is pretty conventional no matter what.

  • @vapourmile Heh, I didn't expect such a smart answer.

  • @ITzJamezy17 LOL

  • @ITzJamezy17 Booooooo

  • I just don't get R'n'B, it's a bit lame. Px.

  • I don't have any real friend

  • can someone please tell me whats so good about OK computer or whats different about it, i just start listening to rock last year, im not saying i dont like it its just i have a hard time finding differences between rock music because there is so many genre's...im just trying to understand rock music better

  • @razorsharpandonpoint OK computer had amazing layering and all the songs on the album are just perfected technically

  • @tjames229 I really like Radiohead, but never got on with OK Computer. The Bends was my favourite of their albums.

  • @razorsharpandonpoint don't try to understand it...just feel it!!! That's the beauty of music, if you enjoy it then listen to it...good taste or bad taste...WHO CARES!!!

  • @gothrownow i love music i like knowing history of music and the better understanding i have of something the more i appreciate it.. SO I CARE!!lol i was just asking

  • @razorsharpandonpoint it sums up the anxst and tiredness of nineties Britain perfectly. It's a millenial album. Like all great albums, it encapsualtes an entire generation and a national feeling. That's why it's so good (to me). Kid A does the opposite - it looks to the future.

  • @Kropotkinskaya No way. The 90s were upbeat in Britain. Cool Britannia, New Labour having more money to spend than knowing what to do with it, and Britpop was infinitely happier than genres in other parts of the world. For example, grunge - some great music, but very gloomy. The Bends and OK Computer were contrary to the zeitgeist, but that's part of the reason they stood out.

  • I wish it was the 60s I wish I could be happy, I wish, I wish that something would happen

  • i listen to this album when i'm on long flights.

  • LOVE this song!

  • the intro sounds like queen

  • Who are my real friends?

  • Wow, people actually arguing about which album is better ... Thom Yorke himself said music is all about triggering memories. So going off of that, any argument about which album is better is pretty invalid. Who honestly cares? In Rainbows if my favorite album, but I just love Radiohead as a whole. Like what you like and forget about what other people think.

  • "The planet is a gumball in a sea of fear.."

  • I quite like this first album but i regret to say they went downhill afterwards. i know radiohead fans get very very defensive about the band to almost pathological levels but i really think that after a promising start they have progressively sunk into a Beatles-esque pretentiousness and self-importance. they have done some good songs since but most of it doesn't mean anything to me and leaves me cold. they ape a lot of styles without having one of their own.

  • @055697 this isn't their first album, just saying

  • @MEYERS3000

OK, whatever. First one I remember anyway.

  • @055697 Pablo Honey kinda sucks, I don't blame you for forgetting it

  • Reminds me so much of being a teenager.. listening to this surrounded by fields in the barn !! Still listen to it over and over !!

  • @kaybo69

Quit trolling man, this is actually brilliant music, pity you can't appreciate it

  • @caesarsaladful you sir.. are the real troll.

  • @slop123456789 This is their style. And are you serious while saying they 'went downhill' after The Bends? They released OK Computer and Kid A, which were bigger and more successful than The Bends.

  • @TheThomosexual haha .. dude that wasnt me that said that

  • @slop123456789 In that case, you can simply ignore it :)

  • @TheThomosexual

Bigger and more successful doesn't mean shit though.

Bends was by far the best.

If we're using success logic we might as well be listening MJ.

  • @mrfudgeyhead Each to his own. I found The Bends and Kid A the best. OK Computer comes a close second. But facts are facts, OK Computer was a landmark 90s album.

  • @slop123456789

No, seriously I've been a radio fan for ages (since my 16th bday last year when my dad got me a radiohead clock) and on every vid I see somebody like yourself that starts hatin' on them, grow up little boy.

  • whatever troll. i like radiohead too. but i spose i 'can't appreciate it'. get fucked

  • WOOH RADIOHEAD!

  • I promised myself I'd spend the whole of today revising for my exams next week.

But instead of analysing poetry, I've spent the past 4 hours at the least analysing Radiohead lyrics. Fml.

  • @iamkaja0

It sounds like you're doing what you're supposed to, to me.

  • Another evening wasted - three hours of Radiohead

  • For some reason this reminds me of The Beatles....

  • Never been a fan of Radiohead, but this album is pure class, pure quality.

If they made another that was anything like 'The Bends', I'd be first in the queue to buy it.

  • Rest in Bill Hicks.

  • my baby's got the bends, oh no

we don't have any real friends, no, no, no

  • Dude......the 90´s..............the good old times

    infinite nostalgy

  • While I don't mind their electronicky stuff, the thing about Radiohead is that they didn't need weird effects and samples to be artsy. Their lyrics on The Bends, OK Computer and to a lesser-but-still present extent Pablo Honey were genius. The music was imaginative and thought provoking- Climbing Up The Walls is one of the most terrifyingly illustrative songs on the planet. It's great to see any band pushing boundaries, I just miss the boundaries they used to push.

  • blazed2death is obviously joking, guys...

  • My third favorite album of theirs. (Kid A and OK Computer are one and two).

  • @blazed2death HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAno.

  • @blazed2death

Lil Wayne?? Justin Bieber?? Drake?? Is this gay list of artist???

  • @blazed2death WTF? WTF?!?!?!?!?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA GAY FAG.

  • @blazed2death How can you include Radiohead with those lightweight artists? Radiohead is in a class by itself.

  • @blazed2death ??????????????

  • @blazed2death WTF did you think that you put those with Radiohead?

  • @blazed2death how could you forget Big Time Rush?

  • @blazed2death lol, strange, cant say anything cause its all about taste, not long done a disc for my mother, it started with the drifters, wham, stevie wonder then 'paranoid android!' lol

  • @blazed2death 1) Nirvana

    2) Oasis

    3) Radiohead

    ;)

  • @ChrysaCbain Muchos respect :).
