Actually, the "lag" is a drop in framerate. I play FFXI frequently and i can tell you its not the graphics card. granted a good card helps, but since this is an older game, it is very CPU dependant! thats why the lag. Also, it won't take advantage of multiple cores. Windows will split the CPU load up but FFXI will cap the CPU usage at the equiviant of one full CPU. So FASTER CPU = more FPS.
That depends entirely what one means by 'lag'. Technically, the term 'lag' only applies to network latency in this context, but the majority also recognizes the term as a framerate slowdown. Usually, the two are unrelated.
The game has inherent lag for many players due to the servers being globalized, and many are simply too far away from the servers to get good latency.
As I said, the game also has pretty bad performance, graphically. That depends on your machine, like any other game.

I got a 4227 as my score. On low settings.
On High Resolution, I barely got over 1000.
Also, is the lag natural in FFXI?

When I was playing, I had some latency, but not much lag. Was pretty smooth, actually.

No, it isn't network lag. I just figured out this lag is natural, and there's nothing I can do about it.

FFXI sports pretty poor performance for its graphical fidelity. You need a pretty good card to run it smoothly.

I only got a 1.6k score when I ran that benchmark on my new laptop, even though it's got an NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 card in it.
